Purpose: Problems related to the elderly's daily life, such as social isolation and absence of a place to go, are already widely recognized, but there are few domestic studies or support policies for this, and the elderly leisure welfare facilities provided by the state do not fully support the elderly's daily life. There are studies related to the elderly's neighborhood environment and facilities, which can be seen as the third place for the elderly in Korea, but these are mostly quantitative studies. In order to talk about the third place for daily support for the elderly in Korea, a detailed study of the use cases of the third place in Korea is needed. This study analyzes the third place of the elderly in Korea and discovers the characteristics and components. Based on the detailed analysis of the third place of the elderly, the characteristics of the third place of the elderly in Korea and the elements constituting it are found to be able to represent the specific necessary environment of the third place of the elderly. Methods: The research targets include 'A Mill' (located in Jungnang-gu, Seoul), and 'Roadside in front of Villa B'(located in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul), 'C-dong roadside park'(located in Dobong-gu, Seoul) within the range of repeated observations and meetings among the places used as a third place for the elderly was selected. The site survey consisted of in-depth interviews, observational surveys, and participatory observations. In-depth interviews were held for a total of 5 months, from October to December 2019 and from April to May 2020. Results: As a result, a total of 11 characteristics (adjacent to the residence, an open place, an independent space, a comfortable place to stay, a pleasant space, safety is guaranteed, a place that has been operated for a long time, a place that can be used autonomously, a place where social exchange occurs, No financial burden, fun activities) was discovered. Implications: This study is significant in that unlike the existing studies focusing on the use behavior of established institutions or facilities, the elderly identified the necessary environment through their own created places.

Offer of medical treatment service for recovery or preservation of physical spiritual function of elderly people by sudden population graying developing is essential. Therefore, according to increase of elderly's medical treatment demand, medical treatment service request is augmented. Fourth, must do so that can use access as is easy little more in local community to all elderly who need medical treatment service of visit nursing, visit medical examination and treatment etc.. that consist in present public health center.

Housing selections of the elderly depends on various changing factors as they get old. Among those factors, housing satisfaction might be one of the most predictable and crucial factor. This study is focused on the casual effect of housing satisfaction on the elderly's likelihood of selection among three alternatives of housing type. The sample was selected from 349 elderly aged above 65 who were living in Jeonju area, and was analyzed from multiple regressions and casual analysis. The results could be summarized as follows; First, the elderly preferred 'their own house living at present (aging in place)' among three housing type. Second, factors that influenced on housing satisfaction of the elderly were condition of health, economic status, living with spouse or not, level of social activities, and family supports. Third, the elderly who were male, without spouse living in single-family houses, in better health condition and with lower educational level were having more likelihood of selection of present housing. The elderly who were having more likelihood to select reverse mortgage payment were male, with spouse, living in apartment houses, the older, in worse health conditions and economic status. And the elderly who were male, with spouse, living in apartment houses, and in worse health conditions were having more likelihood to select national rental housing.
This study aims to examine the effect of housing characteristics of older adults on the willingness to continue living in local communities in order to realize the Aging in place of the elderly in Korea. Considering that the health status of the elderly is important for aging in place, both healthy and unhealthy cases were analyzed in the analyses. Housing characteristics include home ownership, housing cost burden, housing convenience, housing satisfaction, and residential environment satisfaction. The study sample is 9,798 elderly people from the 2017 survey on the elderly. Key findings are as follows: First, while 6,704 older adults (68.4%) chose to continue living in the community, 3,094 (31.6%) of the elderly did not choose to live in the local community. Second, the elderly who chose to stay in the local community are likely to have more real estate assets and less burden of housing expenses than the elderly group who did not. Third, the results report that older adults with more real estate assets and lower the housing cost burden are likely to choose sustainable living in the local community. The findings suggest that the majority of the elderly actually preferred Aging in place. This study concludes with practice and policy implications for realizing aging in place considering the elderly's needs.
By population graying, elderly residing problem is risen by social problem. Specially, because residing is occupying many parts in psychological sentimentalize stability of elderly senescence, it is misgovernment that suitable countermeasure is pressing hereupon with governmental interest so that elderly age may can inhabit to suitable residing space. The purposes of this research used content analysis method about elderly residing support policy laying stress on data of elderly residing support policy connection literature, virtue research etc.. and research result is as following ; First, as elderly residing connection equipment is permitted by common people subject operation in government burden gradually in van abroad including our country, supply of elderly equipment is spreading. Second, support about elderly dependent is introducing house priority supply system to financial favors benefit and income tax exemption, aged parents supporter being increasing. Third, through reconstruction and so on of house, real elderly's ashes are developing by support policy. Also, is administering elderly residing support policy by total service that can support elderly aging in place.
This study aimed to develop the elderly care program for seniors in rural areas and to evaluate its efficacy through pre- and post-tests. For them, this study carried out a total of 8 sessions that includes 4 aims, such as understanding rural elderly, volunteer activities, psychological help, and aids to daily living, on 36 persons over the age of 60 years in rural areas. The data was analyzed by paired t-test to 36 elderly. The results of the study are as follows. First, looking at changes in knowledge about aging, objective evaluation of knowledge showed significant differences (t=-2.22, p<.05), but evaluation of elderly's perception-change didn't show significant differences between before and after. Second, volunteer attitude didn't show significant differences between before and after, but after the training, 75% of them answered 'yes' to question that asked whether they'd like to participate in elderly's volunteer caring activity for other elderly within the town in the future, which gave us certain expectation that the attitude towards volunteer activities might change positively in the future. Third, objective evaluation of knowledge for psychological help didn't show significant differences between before and after. But elderly's subjective perception showed significant differences (t=-2.82, p<.01). Fourth, evaluating changes in knowledge for elderly's aiding daily life, both the objective evaluation and subjective evaluation didn't show significant differences between before and after. Fifth, satisfaction of the program showed high scores over 4 points: contents, education methods, education place, education time. The most helpful topics for them were counseling (27.8%) and dementia (27.8%), followed by elderly and aging (16.7%), elderly's residential environment (13.9%), elderly's dietary life (9.3%) and volunteer activities (5.6%).

As of November 1st 2010, 59% of overall residences in Korea are apartments with 8,185,000 households and when including the multi-unit houses, 71.0% of the overall residences are multifamily houses. The apartments have become the most universal form of residence in Korea and its' relative weight will continuously increase in the future. Meanwhile, Korea has turned into aging society in 2000 and will turn into the super-aged society by 2026 to display the world's fastest speed for aging. Majority of the elderly will spend their declining years in apartments. To understand the residence consciousness and its' properties for unit housing of the elderly residing in apartments, the present study obtained the following results through surveying the 541 nationwide samples. First, the elderly most prefer the mid and high levels(6-9th floors, or 10-15th floors) of apartments. Second, the elderly couples most prefer areas of $85m^2$ while single elderly most prefer $60m^2$. Third, the elderly feel the most inconveniences in bathrooms and showers. Fourth, safety accidents in dwelling of the elderly have no significant correlation with age, gender or their possessed diseases. Fifth, the elderly displayed high satisfaction for their bedrooms. Sixth, there were less tendencies for elderly to feel lack of storage spaces or conduct remodeling. As a result of the analysis, all apartment houses of Korea must support the physical aging of residents and prevent safety accidents in houses to enable Korean aging in place.

This research was focused on collecting and analyzing the data about the preference and awareness about elderly housing among middle aged women. A questionnaire survey was adopted in this study. The data were collected from 120 people between 30~60years old middle aged women living in the city of Seoul from October, 1, 2010 to October, 19, 2010 and 105 cases were used for data analysis. To observe the preference differentiation of elderly housing, by the SPSS Win 18.0 program, $x^2$-test, t-test and ANOVA were utilized. The results of the research were as followings. First, respondents preferred middle scale and single-detached dwelling in suburban areas. Second, for the reason of considering elderly housing, respondents said that they consider the elderly housing as a safe and comfortable place. Third, they preferred that elderly housing should be supplied by local authority or the government. In conclusion, the government and local authorities need to provide elderly housing which can improve the older people's residential welfare in the future aged society and develop a model of the elderly housing which reflects the preference of the middle aged women.
This study focuses on a concrete understanding of the characteristics of perceptions and needs about healthy housing of the elderly, who represent the most vulnerable group of people in society, on the four evaluation dimensions of healthy housing as part of the research for evaluation indicators development for housing health performance in apartments. First, it was found that the elderly perceive an environment where their physical health is well supported as the most important factor for healthy housing. Additionally, the management support of the housing was perceived as the second most important consideration. Second, the most frequently used area for the elderly is the living room and a desired place to be added to indoor spaces was a room of their own or a 'living room', which clearly indicates the importance of the indoor environment for the elderly. Third, the biggest factor for the interior environment that affected the satisfaction level of the elderly in their housing was largely based on the convenience factor that helped lesson the discomfort in their daily life due to the physical aging process, and also on factors related to the pleasant indoor surroundings. Based on the concepts discovered in this study on healthy housing, more concrete items should be developed in the future for an extensive indicator for health performance evaluation, and actual research on the general public should follow suit.
The study on bathroom plan for the elderly who use wheelchair has been done continuously. However, the elderly's behaviour at the bathroom and consideration for the caregiver has been underestimated. In this perspective, the purpose of this study is to find out how much more bathroom size is needed for the elderly who use wheelchair and the caregiver based on their behaviours. The study method is as follows: First, behaviours which occur at bathroom were collected from the previous research. Second, the size needed was calculated based on the elderly and caregiver's movement. Third, the size of bathroom enough for the impaired elderly with caregivers was suggested. The room next to shower booth and bath tub should be expanded for the caregiver. In addition, the room beside the basin should be added as much as $600{\times}600$ to let the caregiver stand and support the elderly when they are needed to wash their hair. As a result, the size of bathroom should be at least planed as follow; $1.3m^2$ more for type A, $1.5m^2$ more for type B, $1.6m^2$ more for type C, and $1.1m^2$ more for type D. As the bathroom is the room that the elderly want to modify for their rest of the lives, the room should be reserved enough from the early stage of design, so that this will make the elderly be possible stay at the place until they want to stay.
