These evidences mainly consists of the following aspects: First, the relation between physical situation of elder people and their using parks. Secondly, the relation between the hearing status and exchange circle diameter in elders. The last is the relation between the distance visual acuity and designing the scene. Finally we get the most suitable step length range, stairs height, road slope, communication space diameter and general formulas about the best vision distance for elder people.

The participants were 301 nurses and 326 elderlies (>60 years) living in Seoul. Data were collected by convenience sampling. The research instrument utilized in this study to measure perceptions and intention to report were 11 of 12 scenarios adapted by Yoo & Kim from Moon and Williams(1993). Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, Chi-Square and Pearson's correlation. Results: The mean score of perceptions on elder abuse was 3.11 for nurses and 2.98 for elderlies. The most severely perceived type of abuse was sexual abuse, followed by physical abuse, neglect, financial abuse, and emotional abuse. Statistically significant group differences were evident in perceptions of elder abuse in six of the scenarios and in all scenarios for intention to report. Conclusions: Differences in perceptions and intention to report on elder abuse between nurses and elderlies should be considered in developing effective measures in prevention and intervention of elder abuse.

The subjects were selected from L, S, Y-institution in kyoung ki do. The average age of elder male and female was 73.81, 71.38 years. The data were analyzed with t-test, repeated measurement, correlation test, regression test, using SPSS PC+ and MINITAB program. The measurement item of motor ability was muscle strength(left, right- grip strength), flexibility(sitting trunk flexion, trunk extension, leg raising while in a standing position), agility(whole body reaction test, standing up), power(sargent jump), balance (stork stand). IADL was measured with Philadelphia Geriatric Center IADL. The result of this study were the following : 1. The factor of significant difference of between elder male and female was muscle strength, flexibility, power but no significant difference was agility, balance. 2. Between IADL of elder male and female was no significant difference. 3. Correlation of IADL and Motor ability of elder male had effect on muscle strength and power, agility. Correlation of Body composition and Motor ability of elder female had effect on muscle strength and power, agility. As a result of this study, optimal motor ability of elder male and female had improved IADL. In addition to, this result of this study, it can suggested the consideration of the Health promotion program for elderly.

For this purpose, the study utilized the 5th version of Korea Longitudinal Study on Aging 2014 and analyzed data concerning 774 elder who lives alone. The findings of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the higher elder who lives alone were in subjective stratum consciousness, the lower they were in depression. Second, elder who lives alone were lower in depression when perceiving they were higher in health state. Third, the elder who lives alone were lower in depression when their perceived subjective health state was higher even if they were lower in stratum consciousness. All these findings clearly indicate that the stratum consciousness and depression of elder who lives alone are moderated by their perceived health state of their own. Lastly, the implications, limitations, and suggestion for further research were discussed.

The elder population in 2026 will be expected to 20.8[%] with the rapid aging society. In this study, there has been conducted a study on development of headlamp for elder friendly vehicle in order to ffrom two different groups, one group for elder with over 65 ages, the other group for compared ages(20 ages, 30~50 ages). Glare test and forward visibility test were performed on wet and dry road conditions. As the result of these tests, it showed to prefer headlamp installed partially yellow coated bulb, which gives warm feeling on dry road condition. Forward visibility of headlamp which developed to fit on wet road condition is similar to existing HID headlamp. Glare was evaluated less than halogen and HID headlamp. However, it need to more improve glare and forward visibility performance of headlamp for old drivers.

  • The human rights of older people have gotten more attention recently in South Korea, a country that is in transition to a super-aged society. This study aimed to systematically review studies on elder abuse and related factors among community-dwelling older adults in South Korea over twenty years (1994-2016). We searched major databases (Riss, DBpia, KISS, KMbase, and PubMed) and identified published studies relevant to the topic. Based on inclusion and exclusion criteria related to study quality, a total of 31 studies were selected for this review. We examined types, measurements, and risk factors of elder abuse as well as study designs in the selected studies, guided by Johannesen's theoretical framework on elder abuse. All of the reviewed studies on elder abuse in Korea were cross-sectional studies, most of which focused on older people living in urban areas, using a non-random sampling method. All of the studies focused on certain types of elder abuse only. Some adopted elder-abuse instruments that were not validated, and others used self-developed instruments without psychometric tests. As for the risk factors of elder abuse in South Korea, the physical and mental health of the victims and aggressors impacted the risk of elder abuse, but general sociodemographic factors such as age, sex, and education were less likely to be related to the risk. In addition, decreasing caregiver burden and building elder-friendly communities are important for the prevention of elder abuse. Needed are further empirical studies on elder abuse with a theoretical framework that gives consideration to the unique sociocultural contexts of Korea. It is also recommended to develop instruments to measure elder abuse reflecting the sociocultural contexts of Korea, and to examine the multi-dimensional risk factors of elder abuse.
