The interaction of monochromatic incident waves with a submerged horizontal porous membrane is investigated in the context of two-dimensional linear hydro-elastic theory. It is assumed that the membrane is made of material with very fine pores so that the normal velocity of the fluid passing through the porous membrane is linearly proportional to the pressure difference between two sides of the membrane (e.g. Darcy's law). Using the Eigen-function expansion method, the wave-blocking performance of a submerged horizontal porous membrane is tested with various membrane tensions, porosities, lengths, and submerged depths. It is found that an optimal combination of design parameters exists for given water depth and wave characteristics.
Within the scope of the plane-strain state, by utilizing the three-dimensional linearized theory of elastic waves in initially stressed piezoelectric and elastic materials, Lamb wave propagation and the influence of the initial stresses on this propagation in a sandwich plate with pre-stressed piezoelectric face and pre-stressed metal elastic core layers are investigated. Dispersion equations are derived for the extensional and flexural Lamb waves and, as a result of numerical solution to these equations, the corresponding dispersion curves for the first (fundamental) and second modes are constructed. Concrete numerical results are obtained for the cases where the face layers' materials are PZT-2 or PZT-6B, but the material of the middle layer is Steel (St) or Aluminum (Al). Sandwich plates PZT-2/St/PZT-2, PZT-2/Al/PZT-2, PZT-6B/St/PZT-6B and PZT-6B/Al/PZT-6B are examined and the influence of the problem parameters such as piezoelectric and dielectric constants, layer thickness ratios and third order elastic constants of the St and Al on the effects of the initial stresses on the wave propagation velocity is studied.
In cells, the microtubules are surrounded by viscoelastic medium. Microtubules, though very small in size, perform a vital role in transportation of protein and in maintaining the cell shape. During performing these functions waves propagate and this propagation of waves has been investigated using nonlocal elastic theory. But the effect of surrounding medium was not taken into account. To fill this gap, this study considers the viscoelastic medium along with nonlocal elastic theory. The analytical formulas of the velocity of waves, and the results reveal that the presence of medium reduces the velocity. The axisymmetric and nonaxisymmetric waves are separately discussed. Furthermore, the results are compared with the results gained from the studies of free microtubules. The presence of medium around microtubules results in the increase of the flexural rigidity causing a significant decrease in radial wave velocity as compared to axial and circumferential wave velocities. The effect of viscoelastic medium is more obvious on radial wave velocity, to a lesser extent on torsional wave velocity and least on longitudinal wave velocity.
In this paper, an integrated model for the wave (current)-induced seabed response is presented. The present model consists of two parts: hydrodynamic model for wave-current interactions and poro-elastic seabed model for pore accumulations. In the wave-current model, based on the fifth-order wave theory, ocean waves were generated by adding a source function into the mass conservation equation. Then, currents were simulated through imposing a steady inlet velocity on one domain and pressure outlet on the other side. In addition, both of the Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokers (RANS) Equations and $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model would be applied in the fluid field. Once the wave pressures on the seabed calculated through the wave-current interaction model, it would be applied to be boundary conditions on the seabed model. In the seabed model, the poro-elastic theory would be imposed to simulate the seabed soil response. After comparing with the experimental data, the effect of currents on the seabed response would be examined by emphasize on the residual mechanisms of the pore pressure inside the soil. The build-up of the pore water pressure and the resulted liquefaction phenomenon will be fully investigated. A parametric study will also be conducted to examine the effects of waves and currents as well as soil properties on the pore pressure accumulation.
An analytical investigation has been performed on the mechanical performance of waves propagated in a Single-Layered Graphene Sheet (SLGS) when an In-plane Varying Bending (IVB) load is interacted. It has been supposed that the Graphene Sheet (GS) is located on an elastic medium. Employing a two-parameter elastic foundation, the effects of elastic substrate on the GS behavior are modeled. Besides, the kinematic equations are derived by the means of a trigonometric two-variable refined plate theory. Moreover, in order to indicate the size-dependency of the SLGS, a Nonlocal Strain Gradient Theory (NSGT) was considered. The nonlocal governing differential equations are achieved in the framework of Hamilton's Principle (HP). Also, an analytical approach was used to detect the unknowns of the final eigenvalue equation. Finally, the effects of each parameters using some dispersion charts were determined.

In this paper, the propagation of elastic wave generated by loading impact to plates made of isotropic or anisotropic material was studied. And the influence of boundary conditions(free or clamped edge) upon the reflection of elastic wave of isotropic plate such as aluminum plate showed circular interferometric fringe pattern, whereas that of anisotropic plate such as epoxy composite laminates showed elliptical one. And the transverse displacement curves obtained from experiment and theory for both plates agreed well. Also, the waves reflected from the boundary edges showed much differences according to the boundary condition of edges.

A large floating structure is attracting great attention in recent years from the view of ocean space utilization. Its huge scale in the horizontal directions compared with the wavelength and relatively shallow depth make this type of floating structure flexible and its wave-induced motion be characterized by the elastic deformation. In this paper, a boundary integral equation method is proposed to predict the wave-induced dynamic response mat-like floating offshore structure. The structure is modeled as an elastic plate and its elastic deformation is expressed as a superposition of free-vibration modes in air. This makes it straightforward to expand the well-established boundary integral technique for rigid floating bodies to include the hydroelastic effects. In order to validate the theoretical analysis, we compare with the experimental result of reduced model test. Satisfactory agreement is found between theory and experiment.

In this paper the three dimensional wave propagation in a homogeneous isotropic thermo elastic cylindrical panel embedded in an elastic medium (Winkler model) is investigated in the context of the L-S (Lord-Shulman) theory of generalized thermo elasticity. The analysis is carried out by introducing three displacement functions so that the equations of motion are uncoupled and simplified. A Bessel function solution with complex arguments is then directly used for the case of complex Eigen values. This type of study is important for design of structures in atomic reactors, steam turbines, wave loading on submarine, the impact loading due to superfast train and jets and other devices operating at elevated temperature. In order to illustrate theoretical development, numerical solutions are obtained and presented graphically for a zinc material with the support of MATLAB.
In the present research, wave propagation characteristics of a rotating FG nanobeam undergoing rotation is studied based on nonlocal strain gradient theory. Material properties of nanobeam are assumed to change gradually across the thickness of nanobeam according to Mori-Tanaka distribution model. The governing partial differential equations are derived for the rotating FG nanobeam by applying the Hamilton's principle in the framework of Euler-Bernoulli beam model. An analytical solution is applied to obtain wave frequencies, phase velocities and escape frequencies. It is observed that wave dispersion characteristics of rotating FG nanobeams are extremely influenced by angular velocity, wave number, nonlocal parameter, length scale parameter, temperature change and material graduation.

The wave interactions with fully submerged and floating dual buoy/vertical porous membrane breakwaters has been investigated in experimentally to validate the developed theory and numerical method in the previous study, in which multi-domain hydro-elastic formulation was carried out in the context of linear wave-body interaction theory and Darcy's law. It is found that the experimental results agrees well with the numerical prediction. Transmission and reflection can be quite reduced simultaneously especially in the region of long waves. The properly tuned system to incoming waves can effectively dissipate wave energy and also offset each other between incident and scattered waves using its hydro-elasticity and geometry.
