  • In this study, the behavior were analyzed for the bow collision event. The model of protective Structure was consist of slab, RCP and non-linear soil spring. The ship was modeled by bow and midship. The bow model was composed by elastic-plastic shell elements, and the midship was composed by elastic solid element. According to the weight of the ship's change from DWT 10000 until DWT 25000 increments 5000. The head-on collision was assumed, its speed was 5knot. Analysis was carried out ABAQUS/Explicit. As the result, increasing the weight of the ship deformability in athletes and to increase the amount of energy dissipated by the plastic could be confirmed.

  • Absolute electron-impact cross sections for molecular targets including their radicals are important in developing plasma reactors and testing various plasma processing gases. However, low-energy electron collision data for these gases are sparse and only the limited cross section data are available. In this presentation, the methods and the status of measurements of, mainly, absolute elastic cross sections for electron-polyatomic molecule collisions will be discussed with recent results from Chungnam National University. Elastic cross sections are essential for the absolute scale conversion of inelastic cross sections, as well as for testing computational methods.

  • Classical molecular dynamics simulations (MDS) were conducted to simulate nano-sized cluster collisions with a weakly attractive static surface. Energy exchanges associated with the cluster collision and the adhesion probability are discussed. Routes of the energy exchanges and the kinetic energy loss are vastly altered in their mode according to the cluster incident velocity. In the elastic collision regime ($V_0$<0.1), most incident kinetic energy is recovered into the rebounding kinetic energy, but a little loss in the incident kinetic energy causes the cluster adhesion. Dissipated kinetic energy is converted into the rotational energy. In the weakly plastic collision regime (0.1<$V_0$<0.3), the transition from elastic to plastic collision occurs, and a large part of the released potential energy is converted into rebounding translational energy. For strongly plastic collisions ($V_0$>0.3), permanent cluster deformation occurs with extensive collapse of the lattice structure inducing a solid-to-solid phase transition; moreover, most of the cluster kinetic energy is converted into cluster potential and thermal energy.

  • Submarine collisions is one of the major hazardous factor for Submerged Floating Railway Tunnel (SFRT) and this study presents the safety evaluation for submarine collision to SFRT by using theoretical approach. Simplified method to evaluate the collision safety of SFRT was proposed based on the beam on elastic foundation theory. Firstly, the time history load function for submarine collision was obtained by using one-degree-of-freedom vibration model. Then, the equivalent mass and stiffness of the structure were calculated, and the collision responses of SFRT were evaluated. Finite element analysis was conducted to verify the proposed equations, and it can be found that the collision responses, such as deflection, and acceleration, agreed well with the proposed equations. Finally, derailment condition for high speed train in SFRT due to submarine collision was proposed.

  • This articles describes a novel design elastic joint manipulator for a mobile robot, which works in an office environment with humans. The primary goal of this manipulator design is safeness on collision and contact. To achieve this, each joint is made of an elastic element and this is driver with a high ratio gear tram. The performance was verified, however, it has a serious drawback. It produce vibration, due to the elastic joints and high ratio gear train. We found that a sliding mode controller has an excellent performance for reducing such vibration. Results of computer simulation and experiments are shown.

  • When an absolute elastic collision occurs between a motion body and the another body inside a closed space, according to the current physical law and thus a computer graphical expression, it is defined that the center of mass of the closed space is not moved. This paper defines a physical law which includes a minor facts of the center of mass of a closed space moves during an absolute elastic collision occurs between a motion body and another body inside a closed space. The law defined in this paper has been verified using approximate lab equipments, and using this, graphical expression models and mathematical expressions for an absolute elastic collision between two bodies inside a closed space are del ed. When the minor effects of the center of mass moves is applied to the multi-body dynamic simulation program or haptic program, more accurate motion could be expressed. This definition can also be applied to an animation movie or other graphical motion expression for more realistic expression.

  • A pretensioner is a safety device that protects occupants by pulling the seat belt in the event of a vehicle collision. However, since the pretensioner is driven by a explosive method, it is necessary to replace not only the gas generator but also all connecting parts including the manifold after an accident. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an elastic force-based pretensioner that can be used safely and semi-permanently. After analyzing the operating mechanism of the existing pretensioner from a thermodynamic/dynamic point of view, the spring stiffness that can be deployed within an appropriate operating time was determined by converting the gas explosion energy into elastic energy. In addition, the coil spring shape that satisfies the elastic stiffness was designed in consideration of the vehicle interior installation standard. Finally, the operating performance of the pretensioner driven by elastic force was verified through fabrication.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide fundamental data for an anchor collision simulation of an FCM (flexible concrete mattress). Numerical material models (elastic-perfectly plastic model, Drucker-Prager model, and RHT concrete model) were compared. ANSYS Explicit Dynamics was used for collision analyses. An FE model was used for the anchor, FCM, andreinforcement bars. The results showed that the behavior of the FCM was verydifferent that those ofthe material models. In particular, the effect of the pressure dependent strength was most noticeable among the properties of concrete.

  • A simplified numerical procedure have proposed to trace the dynamic behaviour of offshore tubulars subjected to lateral collision impacts. The local denting and overall bending deformation of the struck tubular are represented by a non-linear spring and an elastic visco-plastic beam respectively. In this method a temporal finite difference method and a spacial finite element method are employed. Using this method various boundary conditions are able to considered and their effects on the extent of damage can be quantified. The extent of damage due to collision can be obtained as results of the dynamic analysis. The predictions using the proposed method have been correlated with existing test results and then the reliability of the procedure has been substantiated. The characteristics of the dynamic response of tubulars under lateral impacts are compared for simply supported roller and fixed end conditions and their effects on the extent of damage are specfied.
