EYE-type 압전 발전소자의 설계 및 출력특성 (Design and Power Output Characteristics of an EYE-type Piezoelectric Energy Harvester)

  • We present the results of a study of a piezoelectric generator that generates electricity by the application of tension to an element. A device is named "EYE-type generator". The EYE-type generator consists of a rectangular ceramic and two elastic body plates that are attached to upper and lower surfaces of a ceramic. If tension is applied to both ends of the elastic body, that tension is transformed to pressure on the ceramic through a change in the form of the elastic body, causing a piezoelectric effect whereby electricity is generated by the ceramic. This generator is relatively durable because a forces are not applied directly to the ceramic. We examined dependencies of the generator's output characteristics on the size of the ceramic and elastic body. A resonance and output characteristics were analyzed by using a finite element method. The generator was fabricated based on results of the analysis, and this was attached to a frequency-controllable vibrator to measure the output characteristics. The measured results were compared with results of the simulation, and the results pointed to the practicality of the design.

20세기 코르세트리의 구성 및 제작기법 (Immediate Constituent and Technics of Corsetry in the 20C)

  • The object of my research is to inquiry into the immediate constituent and techniques of underwear after looking into basic theory of underwear, techniques by materials classified according to the matter of elasticity, and studying flat pattern and draping which are basis of corset and brassiere structure focusing on corsetry among underwears and production techniques. Various papers are referenced for theoretical study and the elements and techniques of underwear are analyzed based on photographical materials. This paper concludes as follows. To make the flat pattern of corset and brassiere fit to the body tightly, design dart two times without any space and draw smaller than the body. To support the breast sufficiently, move the side seam 1¼″ to the front panel and the seam should pass the apex in all occasions. For draping, dart should be added into short of elasticity materials in the past but dart is no use these days since the material today is extremely elastic. It is possible now to show the body line with only the seam or a pattern. In a case of elastic material, set the elastic direction to the grain line and have a draping as pulling from the center to the out side. As production technic, for an hem, put a zigzag stitch in elastic materials with a 10-20% short elastic band, pulling the band. Then make 3/16″-1/4″ short inseam.

방호공을 고려한 선박의 충돌하중 (The vessel collision load on bridge with fender system)

  • In this study, the impact load on bridge by vessel collision in consideration of fender system is evaluated by numerical method. The bow of object vessel(DWT5000) is standardized, and modeled by shell elements. The main body of objective vessel is modeled by beam elements that present mass distribution and stiffness of vessel. The buoyancy effect of vessel is considered as linear spring. The two types of fender systems, such as steel and rubber are analyzed in this study. In steel fender system, the steel plates that absorb collision energy by its collapse are modeled by shell element with stiffener. The steel is material modeled elastic-plastic material. In the rubber fender system, the rubber material is modeled hyper-elastic material and the main body of fender is modeled by solid elements. The global impact responses of vessel and fender system are evaluated by explicit dynamic scheme. The results show that the magnitude of vessel collision force are depended on the material behavior of fender system. Also the values of collision load are conservative compare to the those of design codes.

ADINA & WINLIFE 활용한 압력용기 용접부 피로파괴 해석 (Effect of Weld Elastic Modulus on Simulation of Stress Concentration and Fatigue Life for Boiler Vessel)

  • The aim of this study is to consider effect of weld elastic modulus on simulations of stress concentration and fatigue life for pressure vessel. The investigations include analysis with ADINA and WINLIFE softwares for whole body model about using condition of the boiler vessel. Values of weld elastic modulus were divided by 5 steps in butt weld area of the boiler vessel body. The stress concentration of the butt weld more was increased in case of higher elastic modulus of weld area because of higher difference of material properties between matrix and weld. It was concluded that the fatigue lives were decreased along increasing stress concentration due to high elastic modulus of weld. The matrix microstructure was estimated as pearlitic structure of ${\alpha}$ ferrite and pearlite. And the microstructures of welds along 5 steps of elastic modulus were estimated as bainitic fine pearlite and martensite as increasing elastic modulus.

A theoretical approach in 2d-space with applications of the periodic wave solutions in the elastic body

  • In this paper, theoretical approach with applications of the periodic wave solutions in an elastic material is applied by study the effect of initial stress, and rotation, on the radial displacement and the corresponding stresses in non-homogeneous orthotropic material. An Analytical solution for the elastodynamic equation has obtained concerning the component of displacement. The variations of stresses and displacements have shown graphically. Comparisons with previously published results in the absence of initial stress, rotation and non-homogeneity have made. Finally, numerical results have given and illustrated graphically for each case considered.

  • In this study, the ultrasonic motor which has hollowed cross type stator was designed, and the elastic body of ultrasonic motor was optimized by using a finite element analysis program(ANSYS 9.0). When the length of leg(L) of the elastic body was increased and the width of piezoceramics was decreased, the resonant frequency was increased and the displacement of contact point between the rotor and the stator was increased. However, when the length of the leg was over the 1/3 point of the width of ceramics, the displacement of the contact point was decreased, because the elastic buckle was generated in the leg.

Closed-form Green's functions for transversely isotropic bi-solids with a slipping interface

  • Green's functions are obtained in exact closed-forms for the elastic fields in bi-material elastic solids with slipping interface and differing transversely isotropic properties induced by concentrated point and ring force vectors. For the concentrated point force vector, the Green functions are expressed in terms of elementary harmonic functions. For the concentrated ring force vector, the Green functions are expressed in terms of the complete elliptic integral. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the effect of anisotropic bi-material properties on the transmission of normal contact stress and the discontinuity of lateral displacements at the slipping interface. The closed-form Green's functions are systematically presented in matrix forms which can be easily implemented in numerical schemes such as boundary element methods to solve elastic problems in computational mechanics.

  • The mechanical behaviors of an elastic body containing another materials are studied with the statistical method since they are generally distributed at random in size, orientation, and position. As the basis of this research, the size, the shape, and the ratio of volume for another material assumed to be constant, and only the positions of another material are changed randomly. The stress intensity factor, the compliance, and the modulus of elasticity are investigated in two-dimensional state by using the Monte Carlo Method and the Finite Element Method. The methodology of the simulation analysis for the mechanical behavior of such material is also proposed.

  • In this paper, disk-type ultrasonic motor using a combination of radial and bending vibration modes is newly designed and fabricated. The characteristics of the test motor are also measured. By means of travelingelastic wave induced at the surface of circumference of the elastic disk, a steel bar in contact with the surface of circumference of elastic disk bonded onto the piezoelectric ceramic disks is driven inboth directions by changing the sine and cosine voltage inputs. The stator of the motor is composed of two sheets of piezoelectric ceramic disk to bond onto both surfaces of a elastic disk, respectively. As the results, the diameter of elastic body is increased, the resonant frequency is decreased. The resonant frequency of the stator is about 92 kHz, which is composed with piezoelectric ceramic disks of 28 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness, and an elastic body of 32 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness. A driving voltage of 20 Vpp produces 200 rpm with a torque of 1Nm and an efficiency of about 10 %.

Numerical simulation of elastic-plastic stress concentration in fibrous composites

  • In the present study an elastic-plastic strain analysis is carried out for fibrous composites by using numerical modeling. Application of homogeneous transversely-isotropic model was chosen based on problem solution of a square plate with a circular hole under uniaxial tension. The results obtained in this study correspond to the solution of fiber model trial problem, as well as to analytical solution. Further, numerical algorithm and software has been developed, based on simplified theory of small elastic strains for transversely-isotropic bodies, and FEM. The influence of holes and cracks on stress state of complicated configuration transversely-isotropic bodies has been studied. Strain curves and plasticity zones that are formed in vicinity of the concentrators has been provided. Numerical values of effective mechanical parameters calculated for unidirectional composites at different ratios of fiber volume content and matrix. Content volume proportions of fibers and matrix defined for fibrous composite material that enables to behave as elastic-plastic body or as a brittle material. The influences of the fibrous structure on stress concentration in vicinity of holes on boron/aluminum D16, used as an example.
