Recently, the design of scaffolding systems has garnered considerable attention due to the increasing number of scaffold collapses. These incidents arise from the underestimation of imposed loads and the site-specific conditions that restrict the application of lateral restraints in scaffold assemblies. The present study is committed to augmenting the buckling resistance of vertical support members, obviating the need for supplementary lateral restraints. To achieve this objective, experimental and computational analyses were performed to assess the axial load buckling capacity of steel props, composed of two hollow steel pipes that slide into each other for a certain length. Three full-scale steel props with various geometric properties were tested to construct and validate the analytical models. The total unsupported length of the steel props is 6 m, while three pins were installed to tighten the outer and inner pipes in the distance they overlapped. Finite Element (FE) modeling is carried out for the three steel props, and the developed models were verified using the experimental results. Also, theoretical analysis is utilized to verify the FE analysis. Using the FE-verified models, a parametric study is conducted to evaluate the effect of different inserted pipe lengths on the steel props' axial load capacity and lateral displacement. Based on the results, the typical failure mode for the studied steel props is global elastic buckling. Also, the prop's elastic buckling strength is sensitive to the inserted length of the smaller pipe. A threshold of minimum inserted length is one-third of the total length, after which the buckling strength increases. The present study offers a prop with enhanced buckling resistance and introduces an equation for calculating an equivalent effective length factor (k), which can be seamlessly incorporated into Euler's buckling equation, thereby facilitating the determination of the buckling capacity of the enhanced props and providing a pragmatic engineering solution.

In the past few years, government agencies and corporations have succumbed to stealthy, tailored cyberattacks designed to exploit vulnerabilities, disrupt operations and steal valuable information. Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) is useful tool for cyberattacks. SIEM solutions are available in the market but they are too expensive and difficult to use. Then we implemented basic SIEM functions to research and development for future security solutions. We focus on collection, aggregation and analysis of real-time logs from host. This tool allows parsing and search of log data for forensics. Beyond just log management it uses intrusion detection and prioritize of security events inform and support alerting to user. We select Elastic Stack to process and visualization of these security informations. Elastic Stack is a very useful tool for finding information from large data, identifying correlations and creating rich visualizations for monitoring. We suggested using vulnerability check results on our SIEM. We have attacked to the host and got real time user activity for monitoring, alerting and security auditing based this security information management.

Process of recognizing objects in binary images consists of image segmentation and pattern matching. If binary objects in the image are assumed to be separated, global features such as area, length of perimeter, or the ratio of the two can be used to recognize the objects in the image. However, if such an assumption is not valid, the global features can not be used but local features such as points or line segments should be used to recognize the objects. In this paper points with large curvature along the perimeter are chosen to be the feature points, and pairs of points selected from them are used as local features. Similarity of two local features are defined using elastic deformation energy for making the lengths and angles between gradient vectors at the end points same. Neighbour support value is defined and used for robust recognition of partially occluded binary objects. An experiment on Kimia-25 data showed that the proposed algorithm runs 4.5 times faster than the maximum clique algorithm with same recognition rate.

Ground reaction curve is very useful information for estimating the installation time of the tunnel support. The ground reaction curve can be estimated by analytical closed form solutions derived in case of circular section and isotropic stress condition. The nature of the ground reaction, however, depends significantly on tunnel configurations. Nevertheless, few purely analytical and experimental studies of this problem due to tunnel configurations appear to have been carried out. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the influence of tunnel configurations in order to use simply in practical design. This paper describes a numerical study for the intial elastic displacement in the ground reaction curve due to configuration of tunnel excavation. In order to evaluate the applicability of analytical closed form solution in practical design, the parametric studies were carried out by numerical analysis in elastic tunnel behaviour. In the studies, S value, namely configuration factor, defined as the ratio between tunnel height (b) and width (a), varies between 0.5 and 3.0, initial ground vertical stress varies between 5~30 MPa for each S values. The results indicated that the self-supportability of ground is larger in the ground having low S value. It, however, is suggested that the applicability of closed form solution may not be adequate to determine directly the installation time of the support and self-supportability of ground. It should be necessary to perform the additional numerical analysis.
Track support stiffness which affected track maintenance and riding comfort had a big effect on the track and train. Also, track support stiffness of the track design which was based on theory differs from track support stiffness of the track generated on the field. Track support stiffness was generated by several factors such as dynamic wheel loads, vertical displacement of track, and stress at rail bottom on the field test. With the results of the field test was compared with theoretical value. This paper analyzed that track support stiffness of ballast depended on condition of ballast, and support stiffness of concrete track also depended on the characteristic of track structures such as, normal elastic fastening system, rail floating system and sleeper floating system. However, on the ballast and concrete track, the designed track support stiffness was underestimated less than the measured track support stiffness. When the track condition was estimated on service line, it would not consider the track condition on the field. Therefore, this study proposed the various track type and the range of track support stiffness based on the experimental test.

The purpose of this paper is to present the optimal design method of viscoelastic dampers and support brace stiffnesses. The dynamics of visco-elastic dampers and support braces connected in series is modeled by state equation. A constraint on maximum story drifts which are computed using RMS\`s of story drifts and peak factors is added to the optimization problem. The number of variables is reduced by including the constraint associated with the dynamic behavior of the structure in the procedure to compute the gradient of the inequality equation about constraint on the maximum story drifts. In the design example, it is confirmed that the design of dampers considering support brace stiffnesses is necessary when sufficient brace stiffnesses cannot be supplied. It is also found that unnecessary brace stiffnesses can be removed by adding brace stiffnesses to optimal design variables and that the increase of damper volumes to compensate for the variation of maximum story drifts is pretty small.

Precise propulsion shafting alignment of ships is very important to prevent damage of its support bearings due to excessive reaction forces caused by hull deflection, forces acted on propeller and crankshaft, and so forth. In this paper, a new iterative shafting alignment calculation procedure considering the interaction between shaft deflection and oil film pressure of Sterntube Journal Bearing (SJB) bush with single or multiple slopes is proposed. The procedure is based on a pressure analysis to evaluate distributed equivalent support stiffness of SJB by solving Reynolds equation and a deflection analysis of shafting system by a finite element method based on Timoshenko beam theory. SJB is approximated with multi-point biaxial elastic supports equally distributed to its length. Their initial stiffness values are estimated from dynamic reaction force calculated by assuming SJB as single rigid support. Then, the shaft deflection and the support stiffness of SJB are sequentially and iteratively calculated by applying a criteria on deflection variation between sequential calculation results. To demonstrate validity and applicability of the proposed procedure for optimal slope design of SJB, numerical analysis results for a shafting system are described.

Numerical analyses of critical speed and mass unbalance response are performed for a 30 ton thrust turbopump. The stiffness and damping of ball bearings and non-contact seals are quantified under aerodynamic and hydrodynamic loads induced by a fuel pump and turbine. Critical speed margin and tip displacements of the rotating parts are evaluated using a three-dimensional finite element method. The results are used to ensure the soundness of the rotordynamic design using an one-dimensional transfer matrix method. A further study shows that sufficient resonance margin may be assured via controlling the stiffness of the rotor support by employing an additional elastic ring to the bearing support.
Continuous deep girders which transmit the gravity load from the upper wall to the lower columns have frequently long end shear spans between the boundary of the upper wall and the face of the lower column. This paper presents the results of tests and analyses performed on three 1:2.5 scale specimens with long end shear spans, (the ratios of shear-span/total depth: 1.8 < a/h < 2.5): one designed by the conventional approach using the beam theory and two by the strut-and-tie approach. The conclusions are as follows: (1) the yielding strength of the continuous RC deep girders is controlled by the tensile yielding of the bottom longitudinal reinforcements, being much larger than the nominal strength predicted by using the section analysis of the girder section only or using the strut-and-tie model based on elastic-analysis stress distribution. (2) The ultimate strengths are 22% to 26% larger than the yielding strength. This additional strength derives from the strain hardening of yielded reinforcements and the shear resistance due to continuity with the adjacent span. (3) The pattern of shear force flow and failure mode in shear zone varies depending on the amount of vertical shear reinforcement. And (4) it is necessary to take into account the existence of the upper wall in the analysis and design of the deep continuous transfer girders that support the upper wall with a long end shear span.

A numerical analysis of cable-stayed bridge is conducted to determine optimum longitudinal modulus of elasticity which represents the boundary condition between the tower and main girder. The effect of longitudinal modulus of elasticity is investigated for different loading condition (live load, wind load, seismic load), respectively. There are significant changes in the member forces as variations of longitudinal modulus of elasticity, such as, $k_h$=e=100tonf/m/bearing (live load), $k_h$=e=1000tonf/m/bearing (seismic load), However, the wind loads do not affect member forces. The optimum longitudinal modulus of elasticity is determined from considering minimum member forces in the numerical analysis results.
