A circular plate with constant thickness, finite radius and stiff edge lying on an elastic halfspace is considered. The half-space consists of a soft functionally graded (FGM) layer with arbitrary varying elastic properties and a homogeneous elastic substrate. The plate bends under the action of arbitrary axisymmetric distributed load and response from the elastic half-space. A semi-analytical solution for the problem effective in whole range of geometric (relative layer thickness) and mechanical (elastic properties of coating and substrate, stiffness of the plate) properties is constructed using the bilateral asymptotic method (Aizikovich et al. 2009). Approximated analytical expressions for the contact stresses and deflections of the plate are provided. Numerical results showing the qualitative dependence of the solution from the initial parameters of the problem are obtained with high precision.

This paper presents the improved elastic modulus equation more appropriate to predict the modulus of elasticity of structural elements designed and made by high-strength concrete. To propose the elastic modulus equation, more than 300 laboratory specimen tests having the range of 5n to 800kgf/$cm^{2}$ in concrete compressive strength were conducted and analyzed statistically. The equation derived in terms of empirical constant, the elastic moduli of coarse aggregate and mix proportions. Comparison of the proposed elastic modulus equation with the previously suggested equations in the ACI363R, and New-RC were also presented to demonstrate the applicability to practice.
Differential transform method (DTM) for free vibration analysis of both ends simply supported beam resting on elastic foundation is suggested. The fourth order partial differential equation for free vibration of the beam resting on elastic foundation subjected to bending moment, shear and axial compressive load is obtained by using Winkler hypothesis and small displacement theory. It is assumed that the material is linear-elastic, and that axial load and modulus of subgrade reaction to be constant. In the analysis, shear and axial load effects are considered. The frequency factors of the beam are calculated by using DTM due to the values of relative stiffness; the results are presented in graphs and tables.
The present paper is concerned with vibrations of an elastic bridge loaded by a moving elastic beam of a finite length, which is an extension of the authors' previous study where the second beam was modeled as a semi-infinite beam. The second beam, which represents a train, moves with a constant speed along the bridge and is assumed to be connected to the bridge by the limiting case of a rigid interface such that the deflections of the bridge and the train are forced to be equal. The elastic stiffness and the mass of the train are taken into account. The differential equations are developed according to the Bernoulli-Euler theory and formulated in a non-dimensional form. A solution strategy is developed for the flexural vibrations, bending moments and shear forces in the bridge by means of symbolic computation. When the train travels across the bridge, concentrated forces and moments are found to take place at the front and back side of the train.

In this paper, we present the properties of water absorption of elastic epoxy for high voltage. The ratio of water absorption shows linearly increase according to ${\sqrt}t$ till 66 hours. And rigid epoxy is 0.053 [%], elastic epoxy at addictives 35 [phr] is 0.309 and it at addictives 70 [phr] is 0.44 [%]. The reason where absorption of elastic epoxy is high is because of micro void. It can be confirmed by SEM analysis. Dieletric constant increased linearly by addictives' concentration and tans is also increased by addictives' concentration.

In this paper, when stress waves are propagated along the reinforced direction of the composite, the characteristic equation of Rayleigh wave is derived. The relationships between velocities of stress waves and Rayleigh wave are studied for anisotropic ratios(E(sub)11/E(sub)12 or E(sub)22/E(sub)11). The increments of anisotropic ratios is made by using known material properties and being constant of basic properties. When the anisotropic ratios are increased, Rayleigh wave velocities to the shear wave velocities are almost equal to 1 with any anisotropic ratios. Rayleigh wave velocities to the longitudinal wave velocities and Shear wave velocities ratio to the longitudinal wave velocities are almost identical each other, they are between 0.12 and 0.21. When the anisotropic ration is very high, that is, E(sub)11/E(sub)22=46.88, Rayleigh wave velocities and the shear wave velocities are almost constant with Poissons ratio, longitudinal wave velocities are very slowly increased with the increments of Poissons ratios. When E(sub)11(elastic modulus of the reinforced direction)and ν(sub)12 are constant, Rayleigh wave velocities and the shear wave velocities are steeply decreased with the increments of anisotropic ratios and the velocities of longitudinal wave are almost constant with them. When E(sub)22(elastic modulus of the normal direction to the fiber) and ν(sub)12 are constant, Rayeigh wave velocities is slowly increased with the increments of anisotropic ratios, the shear wave velocities are almost constant with them, the longitudinal wave velocities are steeply increased with them.
This paper presents an elastic-plastic solution for the circular tunnel of elastic-strain softening behavior considering the pressure-dependent Young's modulus and the nonlinear dilatancy. The proposed solution is verified by the results of the field measuring and numerical simulation from a practical project, and a published closed-form analysis solution. The influence of each factor is discussed in detail, and the ability of Young's modulus and dilatancy characterizing the mechanical response of surrounding rock is investigated. It is found that, in low levels of support pressure, adopting the constant Young's modulus model will seriously misestimate the surrounding rock deformation. Using the constant dilatancy model will underestimate the surrounding rock deformation. When adopting the constant dilatancy model, as the dilation angle increases, the range of the plastic region increases, and the surrounding rock deformation weakens. When adopting the nonlinear dilatancy, the plastic region range and the surrounding rock deformation are the largest. The surrounding rock deformation using pressure-dependent Young's modulus model is between those resulted from two constant Young's modulus models. The constant α of pressuredependent Young's modulus model is the main factor affecting the tunnel displacement. The influence of α using a constant dilatancy model is much more apparent than that using a nonlinear dilatancy model.
Recently, PM-high speed steel(PM-HSS) has reportedly been a good alternative material for rolling mill because of its superior performance to conventional HSS. This paper has been aimed to investigate the possibility for application to rolling contact element for PM-HSS by X-ray diffraction technique. The X-ray elastic constant for PH-HSS has been found by X-ray diffraction during the four-point bending test. Residual stress and half-value breadth on the contact surface during rolling contact fatigue process by X-ray diffraction have also been measured. The result of this study shows that the application of X-ray diffraction technique to PM-HSS could be as possible alternative material as conventional HSS. Half-value breadth on rolling contact surface by X-ray diffraction is not changed during rolling contact fatigue process. On the other hand, the residual stress is changed. This suggests that dislocation reaction has been hardly occurred in rolling contact, depending on super-saturated carbon in PM-HSS.
Several rheological terms were introduced to estimate the properties of cooked noodles with different starch content using tensile tests. Ring-shaped specimens were prepared by connecting both ends of the noodle strip before cooking. Hencky strain and rate, as well as true stress were applied in constant deformation tests. The elastic region on the curves of strain vs. stress was not clearly identified. Strain hardening in the subsequent plastic region was more prominent in low-starch noodles. Elongational viscosities at lower strain rates were used to differentiate noodles with different starch content, representing the dominant effect of protein content in the range of lower strain rates. In stress relaxation tests, the reciprocal of Peleg's constant $K_1$ (initial decay rate) and $K_2$ (asymptotic level) increased and decreased respectively, with an increase in starch content. This indicated that addition of starch contributed to the noodles becoming viscous liquid rather than elastic solid.
Agricultural materials do not react in a purely elastic manner, and their responses when subjected to stress and strain are appeared from a combination of elastic and viscous behavior. Various researchers have studied the mechanical and rheological properties of the many agricultural materials, but those properties are available mostly foreign varieties of agricultural products. Rheological properties of rice seedlings become important to formulate the principles governing their mechanical behavior. The objectives of this study were to experimentally determine the stress relaxation properties of rice seedlings such as three Japonica-type and one Indica ${\times}$ Japonica hybrid in the transplanting age. The results of this study are summarized as follows; 1. The stress relaxation behavior could be described by the generalized Maxwell model. 2. The phenomenon of stress relaxation happened abruptly just after loading and this phenomenon weakened with the loading time lapsed. 3. With increase of the initial stress, the stress relaxation intensity and residual stress increased, while the relaxation time was constant with increased, while the relaxation time was constant with increase of the level of initial stress. 4. With increase of loading rate, the stress relaxation intensity increased, while the relaxation time and residual stress decreased.
