  • 본 연구에서는 고속 대변형 탄소성 변형 과정을 해석할 수 있는 프로그램(NET )을 개발하고 이것을 실린더 및 링 성형 문제에 적용하여 마찰 및 관성 효과가 변형 거동에 미치는 영향을 규명하여 보았다.

Safety assessment of caisson transport on a floating dock by frequency- and time-domain calculations

  • When caissons are mounted on a floating transportation barge and towed by a tug boat in waves, motion of the floating dock creates inertia and gravity-induced slip forces on the caisson. If its magnitude exceeds the corresponding friction force between the two surfaces, a slip may occur, which can lead to an unwanted accident. In oblique waves, both pitch and roll motions occur simultaneously and their coupling effects for slip and friction forces become more complicated. With the presence of strong winds, the slip force can appreciably be increased to make the situation worse. In this regard, the safety of the transportation process of a caisson mounted on a floating dock for various wind-wave conditions is investigated. The analysis is done by both frequency-domain approach and time-domain approach, and their differences as well as pros and cons are discussed. It is seen that the time-domain approach is more direct and accurate and can include nonlinear contributions as well as viscous effects, which are typically neglected in the linear frequency-domain approach.

  • The Mononobe-Okabe method is generally used to evaluate the dynamic earth force for the seismic design of retaining walls. However, the Mononobe-Okabe method does not consider the effects of the dynamic interactions between the backfill soil and the wall. In fact, a phase difference exists between the inertia force and the seismic earth pressure. In this study, shaking table tests were peformed on gravity walls retaining dry backfill sand to analyze the influence of several parameters (the unit weight of the wall, the input acceleration and base friction) on the development of the seismic earth pressure. The experiments revealed that the magnitude of the inertia force mobilized during seismic loading affected the seismic earth pressure. The difference in the phase angles between the inertia force and the seismic earth pressure was retained at 180 degrees before the wall failed but its magnitude changed significantly as the wall began to fail.

Friction Characteristics of piston Skirt Parametric Investigation

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of design parameters on the friction loss in piston skirt. An analytical model to describe the friction characteristics of piston skirt has been presented, which is based on the secondary motion of piston and mixed lubrication theory, It could be shown that the skirt friction closely depends on the side force acted on the piston pin. The side force is inf1uenced by cylinder pressure at low engine speed, but by inertia force at high engine speed. The usage of extensive skirt area and low weight piston is effective to reduce the friction loss at high speed. The low viscosity oil considerably decreases viscous friction as engine speed increases, but it increases boundary friction at low engine speed. From the parametric study, it is found that the skirt axial profile is the most important design parameter related to the reduction of skirt friction.

  • This paper presents control and evaluation of a new haptic device with a 6-DOF parallel mechanism for interfacing with virtual reality. This haptic device has low inertial, high bandwidth compactness, and high output force capability mainly due to of base-fixed motors. It has also wider orientation workspace mainly due to a RRR type spherical joint. A control method is presented with gravity compensation and with force feedback by an F/T sensor to compensate for the effects of unmodeled dynamics such as friction and inertia. Also, dynamic performance has been evaluated by experiments. for force characteristics such as maximum applicable force, static-friction force, minimum controllable force, and force bandwidth Virtual wall simulation with the developed haptic device has been demonstrated.

  • Stabilization performance of a sight stabilization system can be improved by proper selection of control algorithm and mechanism. In that aspect, in this paper, effects of an inertia balancer are studied. Parameters of the inertia balancer were obtained from the governing equation by assuming there is no external force and friction. Simulation and experimental results show that the inertia balancer contributes significantly to the stabilization of the line of sight(LOS). In particular, it was found that the inertia balancer is more effective as frequency of the disturbance increases.

  • Seismic isolation and vibration control techniques have been developed and put into practical use by challenging researchers and engineers worldwide since the latter half of the 20th century, and after more than 40 years, they are now used in thousands of buildings, private residences, highways in many seismic areas in the world. Seismic isolation and vibration control structures can keep the structures undamaged even in a major earthquake and realize continuous occupancy. This performance has come to be recognized not only by engineers but also by ordinary people, becoming indispensable for the formation of a resilient society. However, the dynamic characteristics of seismically isolated bearings, the key elements, are highly dependent on the size effect and rate-of-loading, especially under extreme loading conditions. Therefore, confirming the actual properties and performance of these bearings with full-scale specimens under prescribed dynamic loading protocols is essential. The number of testing facilities with such capacity is still limited and even though the existing labs in the US, China, Taiwan, Italy, etc. are conducting these tests, their dynamic loading test setups are subjected to friction generated by the large vertical loads and inertial force of the heavy table which affect the accuracy of measured forces. To solve this problem, the authors have proposed a direct reaction force measuring system that can eliminate the effects of friction and inertia forces, and a seismic isolation testing facility with the proposed system (E-isolation) will be completed on March 2023 in Japan. This test facility is designed to conduct not only dynamic loading tests of seismic isolation bearings and dampers but also to perform hybrid simulations of seismically isolated structures. In this paper, design details and the realization of this system into an actual dynamic testing facility are presented and the outcomes are discussed.

  • 본 연구에서는 다경간 연속교의 내진해석시 가동받침의 마찰을 고려할 수 있는 비선형 동적해석 방법을 제시하고 가동받침의 마찰계수에 따른 연속교의 내진응답을 고찰하였다. 연구결과 국내와 같은 소규모 설계지진시에는 가동받침의 마찰은 마찰계수가 작더라도 에너지 감쇠에 의한 상부구조의 변위감소와 마찰력에 의한 상부구조의 관성력의 각 하부구조로 분배에있어 상당한 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 이러한 가동받침의 마찰효과는 마찰계수가 클수록, 입력지진의 규모가 작을수록 커짐을 보였다. 따라서 경간수가 많고 상부구조의 중량이 큰 다경간 연속교에 있어서 가동반침의 마찰계수를 적절히 사용함으로써 중소규모 설계지진 작용시 상부구조의 수평변위를 조절할 수 있고 상부구조의 교축방향 관성력을 각 하부구조로 분배하는 효과에 의해 경제성과 전체교량의 내진 안전성을 확보할 수 있다.

고속 연접봉의 응력 변동

  • In the design of high speed machinery, designers must consider the problem of possible structural failure due to excessive dynamically varying stresses, which are induced by the varying external loads and internal inertia forces, in the links of the mechanism. A study of the dynamically induced stresses would indicate what values of the minimum permissible fatigue strength should be for safe mechanism operation. This paper investigates the nature of the stress fluctuation in high speed mechanism on the basis of the effects of both the loads and the friction. The latter is apt to be neglected in the usual analysis in spite of the fact that it is always generated in the operating machinery. The analysis is performed on the coupler of the slider-crank mechanism for illustrative purposes and the results are expressed in a non-dimensional form for design applications.

옹벽의 활동에 따른 배면 동적토압의 변화 (Variation of Dynamic Earth Pressure Due to Sliding of Retaining Walls)

  • 현재 옹벽의 배면 동적토압을 산정할 때 주로 등가정적해석법인 Mononobe-Okabe 식이 이용되고 있다. 하지만 이식은 벽체와 뒤채움 지반간의 동적상호작용을 고려하지 못한다는 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 벽체와 뒤채움 지반간의 동적상호작용을 분석하기 위하여 건조 사질토로 뒤채움한 옹벽에 대하여 진동대 시험을 수행하였다. 벽체 단위중량, 입력가속도의 진폭 그리고 벽체 바닥면 거칠기를 변화시키면서 이들 각 인자가 동적토압에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 그 결과 벽체의 활동속도가 작은 경우에는 동적토압과 관성력간은 180도 위상차를 가졌지만 활동속도가 큰 경우에는 동적토압에 관성력과 동일한 위상을 가지는 작은 정점이 발생하였다. 동적토압의 크기는 벽체가속도와 벽체단위중량의 크기에 비례하였다. 또한 Mononobe-Okabe 방법으로 계산된 동적토압은 측정된 동적토압의 상한값으로 나타났다.
