The Study on Intelligent Cooling Load Forecast of Ice-storage System (빙축열 시스템의 지능형 냉방부하예측에 관한 연구)

  • In the conventional operation of ice-storage system based on operator's experience and judgement, the failure in forecast of cooling load occurs frequently due to operator's misjudgement and unskilled operation. This study presents the method of constructing self-organizing fuzzy models which forecast tomorrow temperature, humidity and cooling load periodically for economic and efficient operation of ice-storage system. To check the effectiveness and feasibility of the suggested algorithm, the actual example for forecasting temperature, humidity and cooling load of ice- storage system in KEPCO training institute, Sokcho, is examined. The computer simulation results show that the accuracy of temperature, humidity, cooling load forecast of the suggested algorithm is higher than that of the conventional methods.

Visual servoing of robot manipulators using the neural network with optimal structure (최적화된 신경회로망을 이용한 동적물체의 비주얼 서보잉)

  • This paper presents a visual servoing combined by Neural Network with optimal structure and predictive control for robotic manipulators to tracking or grasping of the moving object. Using the four feature image information from CCD camera attached to end-effector of RV-M2 robot manipulator having 5 dof, we want to predict the updated position of the object. The Kalman filter is used to estimate the motion parameters, namely the state vector of the moving object in successive image frames, and using the multi layer feedforward neural network that permits the connection of other layers, evolutionary programming(EP) that search the structure and weight of the neural network, and evolution strategies(ES) which training the weight of neuron, we optimized the net structure of control scheme. The validity and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme and predictive control of moving object will be verified by computer simulation.

  • In the constructing of the multi layer neural network, the network topology is often chosen arbitrarily for different applications, and the optimum topology of the network is determined by the long processing of the trial and error. In this paper, we propose the automatic topology construction using the fuzzy rule that optimizes the neurons of hidden layer, and prune the weights connecting the hidden layer and the output layer during the training process. The simulation of pattern recognition, and the experiment of the mapping of the inverted pendulum showed the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Development of a case-based nursing education program using generative artificial intelligence (생성형 인공지능을 활용한 사례 기반 간호 교육 프로그램 개발)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a case-based nursing education program using generative artificial intelligence and to assess its usability and applicability in nursing curriculums. Methods: The program was developed by following the five steps of the ADDIE model: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. A panel of five nursing professors served as experts to implement and evaluate the program. Results: Utilizing ChatGPT, six program modules were designed and developed based on experiential learning theory. The experts' evaluations confirmed that the program was suitable for case-based learning, highly usable, and applicable to nursing education. Conclusion: Generative artificial intelligence was identified as a valuable tool for enhancing the effectiveness of case-based learning. This study provides insights and future directions for integrating generative artificial intelligence into nursing education. Further research should be attempted to implement and evaluate this program with nursing students.

  • In this paper, we propose a modified error function to improve the EBP(Error Back-Propagation) algorithm of Multi-Layer Perceptrons. Using the modified error function, the output node of MLP generates a strong error signal in the case that the output node is far from the desired value, and generates a weak error signal in the opposite case. This accelerates the learning speed of EBP algorothm in the initial stage and prevents overspecialization for training patterns in the final stage. The effectiveness of our modification is verified through the simulation of handwritten digit recognition.

  • In this paper, the stabilization of an inverted pendulum system is studied. Here, the PID control method is adopted to make the system stable. In order to adjust the PID gains, a three-layer neural network, which is based on the back propagation method, is used. Meanwhile, the time for training the neural network depends on the initial values of PID gains and connection weights. Hence, the genetic algorithm Is considered to shorten the time to find the desired values. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • This paper proposes a recognition system of constrained handwritten Hangul and alphanumeric characters using discrete hidden Markov models (HMM). HMM process encodes the distortion and similarity among patterns of a class through a doubly stochastic approach. Characterizing the statistical properties of characters using selected features, a recognition system can be implemented by absorbing possible variations in the form. Hangul shapes are classified into six types by fuzzy inference, and their recognition is performed based on quantized features by optimally ordering features according to their effectiveness in each class. The constrained alphanumerics recognition is also performed using the same features used in Hangul recognition. The forward-backward, Viterbi, and Baum-Welch reestimation algorithms are used for training and recognition of handwritten Hangul and alphanumeric characters. Simulation result shows that the proposed method recognizes handwritten Korean characters and alphanumerics effectively.

  • We propose a control architecture for the fuzzy logic control of robot manipulators and a rule base derivation method for a fuzzy logic controller(FLC) using a neural network. The control architecture is composed of FLC and PD(positional Derivative) controller. And a neural network is designed in consideration of the FLC's structure. After the training is finished by BP(Back Propagation) and FEL(Feedback Error Learning) method, the rule base is derived from the neural network and is reduced through two stages - smoothing, logical reduction. Also, we show the performance of the control architecture through the simulation to verify the effectiveness of our proposed method.

  • In this paper, we propose a feed identification method using neural network to predict feed in crude distillation unit. The proposed FINN(feed identifier by neural network) is functionally composed of two modes-training mode and prediction mode. Also, we implement a neural network-based soft sensor system using Borland C++(3.0) Builder. The effectiveness of the proposed neural network-based feed identification method is shown by simulation results.

  • In this study, a winch and load motion control system design method is introduced. Especially, the winch and load (moving cart) are connected with long wire rope which is extended to few kilometers long. Therefore, the rope length changes such that many dynamic parameter values are changed as well by winding and releasing the rope from the winch system. In this paper, the authors designed the control system by considering the real time parameter variation to occupy and keep good control performance continuously. The effectiveness of introduced method was evaluated by simulation results.
