The purpose of this study is to develop a group counseling program to improve the learning habits of the elementary school children who experience difficulties learning, because of their wrong learning habits. To achieve it, the sub-elements of learning habits are set by "learning motive & attitude" and "learning technique" A group counseling program composed of the essential factors suitable for each element are srhseqrently, devised to pursue the improvement of learning habits. The study propositions are set as follows: Can the group counseling program improve the learning habits of elementary school children? 1. Can the group counseling program improve the learning motive and attitude of elementary school children? 2. Can the group counseling program improve the learning technique of elementary school children? The subject of this study is the 4th graders of W elementary school located in Gwangju Metropolitan City. After selecting 12 pupils from low scorers after a learning habits test, Each 6 of those are randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group, respectively. In this way, they are pcrticipate in the group counseling program. The group counseling program is consisted of 10 sessions. The program is implemented for six weeks with a 50 min duration per session. As a measuring tool, a restructured test with only motive variables and technique variables, excluding remaining variables, from the Learning Habits Test by Choi Jong-Ryul (1992) is used for pre and post tests. The results of the study is acquired by integrating the statistics from the test tool. Observation of the counselor and testees' thoughts are as follows: The group counseling program affects the sub-elements of learning habits positively, namely learning motive & attitude and learning technique. The program applied in this study is effective in improving the learning habits of the pupils with lower learning habits. Accordingly, this program can be one of the methods to develop effective learning habits, set efficient strategies and exert abilities maximally for the learners, who did not adequately exert their abilities, due to wrong learning habits, while ineffectively learning without knowing effective learning habits. To improve and maintain the learning habits of the elementary school pupils, overall understanding should be backed in order to precisely analyze and identify the learning habits of the pupils. Besides, an association between schools and homes is also needed along with parents' concerns over their children's learning habits at home.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of an after-school cooking program on the eating habits and sociality of children. Thirty five children from the 3rd to the 6th grade of G Elementary School participated in this program comprising 12 periods of cooking activities, from May to August 2013. The content of the after-school cooking program included japchae, topokki, jajangmyeon, oi sobagi, cake, snack wrap, vegetable fried rice, sticky noodle, sushi, pizza, rice muffin, and sandwiches. Before and after learning, the participants' eating habits and sociality were investigated. The study analyzed the mean, standard deviation, and Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Signed-Ranks Test results for a comparison between the pre- and post-test results. On the basis of the research findings and discussions, the study reached the following conclusions. First, the after-school cooking program was analyzed as being helpful and useful in categorizing the eating habits of children as sanitary dietary life, well-mannered dietary life, and healthy dietary life. Further, more girls than boys fostered effective eating habits. Second, the after-school cooking program was analyzed as being helpful and useful in determining sociality and more girls than boys fostered effective sociality. Third, cooking is an appropriate topic for the after-school program of Korean elementary schools, and the cooking program has expanded in G Elementary School after the abovementioned experiment.
Purpose: This study was performed to test an obesity management program for elementary school children. The program was assessed by examining its effects on the obesity, dietary attitudes, dietary habits, and exercise habits. Methods: The participants were 65 elementary school children, of which 32 were assigned for the experimental group and 33 for the control group. The experimental group received an 8 weeks obesity management program. The outcome variables were measured before and after the program. $X^2$-test and t-test were used to analyze the data. Results: After the obesity management program, the BMI and fat mass percentage in the experimental group were significantly reduced. The score for dietary attitudes and dietary habits changed in a positive direction. Conclusions: The findings from this study suggest that the obesity management program was effective in decreasing the rate of obesity and increasing the score for dietary attitudes and dietary habits. The program should be effective in the management of obesity in elementary school children.
Purpose: This study aims to present practical data available for the effective health management and improvement for the dental technicians by exploring the interrelationships between general characteristics of dental technicians and seven health related habits like drinking, smoking, breakfast, and snacks among the others(alameda 7). Methods: Out of the random selection of the registered dental offices of Dental Technicians Association of Korea, 2,000 working dental technicians were asked to fill out the questionnaire from January 19 to April 30, 2009. We collected the 1,502 sheets of the questionnaire and took frequency analysis, crosstabulation, t-test, and analysis of variance using SPSS Win 12.0 program. Results: Among the seven health related habits, 54.9% of the subject answered 'never do exercise' in the question of exercise habits, which is the most problematic of all. Hours of sleep and BMI were found to be quite low. Of the general characteristics, sex proved statistically significant to all the seven habits(p<.001). Marital status, job title, and health check-up showed statistical significance in six items among the seven habits. Age, monthly income, job position showed statistical meanings in five items among the seven habits. The frequency of break showed statistical significance in four items among the seven habits. Working environment showed statistical significance only in the item of hours of sleep among the seven habits(p<.05). Conclusion: This study proved that it is vital to educate the dental technicians to learn the right habits for enhancing their health and quality of life and motivate them to practice those habits.
Purpose: To compare normal weight children with obese children in terms of family factors, eating habits, and sociocognitive factors. Method: This study compared 217 obese children with 231 normal standard weight children of 4th-6th graders from 7 elementary schools in Kangwon province. The study also surveyed 817 their parents using questionnaires in which familial factors, eating habits, and sociocognitive factors such as dietary self-efficacy, locus of control and self-esteem were included. Result: Obese children had more obese family members, more family members with chronic metabolic disease, and lower breast-feeding rate than normal weight group. Dietary self-efficacy was positively correlated with eating habits and locus of control while no correlation was found with obesity index.. Self-esteem was negatively correlate with obesity index. Both the parents and the childrens eating habits showed significant positive correlation to the obesity index. Conclusion: These results implied familial factors, eating habits, and sociocognitive factors influenced childhood obesity. Thus, further research targeting to positive attitude toward familial dietary practices combined with significant sociocognitive factors, may lead to prevention and effective management of childhood obesity.

This study examines the relationships between stress and eating habits of adolescents based on the assumption that adolescents require large amounts of nutrients and that eating habits affect their physical development, academic achievement, and emotional development. For this purpose, 213 adolescents in Gangwondo, Korea, were surveyed. Many studies have reported that stress causes changes in eating habits and affects health status. Based on the dietary action guide scores according to stress categories, eating instant foods less was significant (p<0.001), eating fast foods less was significant (p<0.05), and have soft drinks less was significant (p<0.001). The results suggest the importance of balanced nutrition based on the formation of right dietary habits for adolescents. Good nutrition can be determined through right knowledge of nutrition and dietary habits, and right dietary habits can improve health and physical development as well as mental and emotional stability. The analysis did not compare other regions, and therefore any generalization of the results should be made with caution. However, the results offer important insights into stress among adolescents for their effective counseling.
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of weight control program on food habits, eating behaviors and life habits in obese elementary school children. The program consisted of nutritional education, physical exercise and behavioral therapy was conformed for 10 weeks. Participants of the study involved 41 obese children and their parents. There was significant difference in waist circumference (p < 0.05) and children's body fat % significantly decreased from 35.8% to 33.0% (p < 0.01) after program. There was significant increase (p < 0.05) in HDL-cholesterol, 47.8 (mg/dL) to 53.6 (mg/dL) after weight control program. Food habits and eating behaviors of obese children were showed positively changes but there were no significant differences after program. Regularity of having breakfast and amount of meal under the stress condition were not significantly different after program. The levels of physical activity of obese children were significantly increased from 1.40(hr) to 1.74(hr) per day (p < 0.05). But there were no significant changes in spending hours of watching television and playing computer games. Food habits, eating behavior and physical activity showed significant correlations to weight control. These results suggest that the body weight control program for obese children including nutrition education, physical exercise and behavioral therapy may be effective to improve their food habits, eating behaviors and life habits. Nevertheless we need a more concentrating program to improve life habits such as physical activity and watching television.
In order to develop a logical method for using selective fishing gear, the behaviour and habits of the aquatic animals must be investigated. However, until now, little national research has been carried out to investigate the behaviour and habits of the common octopus (Octopus minor). The purpose of this study henceforth, is to compile necessary behavioral data to develop fishing gear to catch the common octopus. Behaviour and habits of the common octopus were observed while breeding in a water tank from February to May, 2003. The feeding habits of common octopus are more vigorous at night than in the daytime. The common octopus feeds on 1-4 bait crabs per day and consume each crab in 40-50 min. The sensory organs of the common octopus are more influenced by the sense of touch and smell, than by vision. Using live bait is more effective and advantageous than using dead bait, as the common octopus responded more to live bait. The hiding habits of the common octopus were very intensive, as they hid around all the shelters that were provided in this study. They demonstrated territorial behavior and struggled to maintain their sphere of influence. In addition, out of the various colors for shelters and bait supplied, the common octopus preferred light colors.

The purpose of this study is (1) to develop the teaching plan based on Practical Problems solving on the area of food habits in home economics class and (2) to investigate the participation of teaching, the attitude of teaching method and food life. The subject of this study was two classes consisted off 66 students(male 26. female 40, 33 for each class) who are the first grade of middle school. The comparison group was taught by lecturing. while the experiment group by cooperative learning. The period of this experiment was three weeks: from June 7th to Jun 23th. 1999. The experiment was conducted through 5 classes. First of all students identify the problem of food habits and seek and evaluate information. Students evaluate actions and reflect on decision and evaluate action. The statistical method for the study was a paired T-test. The results of this study are as follows: 1. After experiment, the participation of teaching(p<.05) and the attitude of teaching method(p<.01) in the experiment group showed a statistically significant difference. Therefore the students in the class based on the practical problems solving took an active part in teaching 2. The practical problems solving is more effective than the lecturing in doing guide the positive attitude of teaching. 3. Through the experiment the attitude of food life in the experiment group showed a statistically significant difference(p<.05) Therefore the practical problems solving is more effective than the lecturing in changing positive attitude of food life.
Purpose: This study was done to identify menstrual discomfort and dietary habits, and factors related to the menstrual discomforts. Method: Participants were 320 female middle school students in G city. The Menstrual Discomfort Questionaire(MDQ) and dietary habit lists were used as tools. Results: Factors related to MDQ were found to be the VAS scores (r=.361, p=.002), a mount of menstrual bleeding (r=.131, p=.019), height (r=.134, p=.016), adequacy of meal time (t=7.19, p=.008), consumption of milk & milk products (F=3.20, p=.042) and, hot, salty & irritant foods (f=8.01, p=.000), eating more than 3 kinds of side-dishes with each meal (F=8.32, p=.000), and various protein foods (F=5.15, p=.006). In stepwise regression, 4 variables (VAS scores, height, hot, salty & irritant foods, more than 3 kinds of side-dishes with each meal) explained $20.3\%$ of the variance in the total MDQ scores. Conclusion: Reduction of hot, salty & irritant foods and having more than 3 side-dishes with each meal would be effective in menstrual discomfort management. As well, good and, balanced dietary habits should be encouraged for early adolescent girls. To keep up with the ideal dietary habits, nutritional education & counseling should be continued. In a further study, a replication study with larger samples and more specified nutritional assessment are recommended.
