This paper presents the performance and problems in analysis method and testing system of Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (ESPI) method, in measuring two - dimensional in-plane displacement. The anyalysis result of measurement by ESPE is quite comparable to that tof measurement by strain gauge method. This implies that the method of ESPE is a very effective tool in non-contact two-dimensional in-plane strain analysis. But there is a controversal point, measurment error. This error is discussed to be affected not by ESPE method itself, but by its analysis scheme of the interference fringe, where the first-order interpolation has been applied to the points of strain measured. In this case, it is turned out that the more errors would be occurred in the large interval of fringe. And so this paper describes a computer method for drawing when the height is available only for some arbitrary collection of points. The method is based on a distance-weighted, last- squares approximation technique with the weight varying with the distance of the data points.
This paper proposes a communication distance performance evaluation method for mobility of service robots equipped with a Wi-Fi module. Service robots have function of mobile communication system according to classified services and utilize a (preferred) communication method, wireless lan(IEEE802.11 a/b/gin) communication method of ISM band(2.4GHz and 5.8GHz). For evaluating degradation performance of wireless data for the service robot's mobility. We measured and presented reference vectors obtained by utilizing a distance attenuation correlation method in the real world environment. To evaluate performance of the proposed method, path loss of reference vectors was assigned to the Azimuth 301W and then transmission rate and the transmit throughput of the test sample were measured by the Chariot. The proposed measurement method is necessary for securing wireless LAN communication distance for mobility of mobile smart device and service robots. In addition, if the proposed measurement method os adopted, It would be expected that mobile smart device vendors would utilize the method as an effective wireless LAN mobility communication distance performance evaluation method.

In this paper, we propose an active water level and distance measurement algorithm using a light beam pattern. On behalf of conventional water level gauge types of pressure, float-well, ultrasonic, radar, and others, recently, extensive research for video analysis based water level measurement methods is gradually increasing as an importance of accurate measurement, monitoring convenience, and much more has been emphasized. By turning a reference light beam pattern on bridge or embankment actively, we suggest a new approach that analyzes and processes the projected light beam pattern image obtained from camera device, measures automatically water level and distance between a camera and a bridge or a levee. As contrasted with conventional methods that passively have to analyze captured video information for recognition of a watermark attached on a bridge or specific marker, we actively use the reference light beam pattern suited to the installed bridge environment. So, our method offers a robust water level measurement. The reasons are as follows. At first, our algorithm is effective against unfavorable visual field, pollution or damage of watermark, and so on, and in the next, this is possible to monitor in real-time the portable-based local situation by day and night. Furthermore, our method is not need additional floodlight. Tests are simulated under indoor environment conditions from distance measurement over 0.4-1.4m and height measurement over 13.5-32.5cm.

In this study, the ultraviolet (UV) intensity of polymer insulator was measured using the Anti-Reflective (AR) coating lens on the occurrence of corona discharge. The UV intensity was compared before and after the AR coating. Under the 200-260[nm] of UV lens, the reflection rate before AR coating was 7.5~5.5[%] with 85-89[%] of transmission rate. After AR coating, however, the reflection rate decreased to 1.3~1.22[%] with improved transmission (97.4~97.6[%]). Then, the UV intensity by distance was measured in the polymer insulator. According to the measurement, the UV intensity increased 6.5 times at 37.5[%] of Vm/Vbd with 5[m] of distance. As distance increased, the growth rate declined. As high voltage increased, in addition, AR coating was less effective due to the count error caused by the UV sensor pulse signal overlap. Therefore, it appears that it would be more effective to detect corona discharge with 5[m] or less of distance at diagnosis of power facilities by AR coating and UV sensor sensitivity.

Analysis of accommodation amplitude has been conducted for 137 adults, living in rural area, aged from their fifties to eighties. The methods included measurement of correction power for distance via auto-refractometer, measurement of near power based on trial frame and trial lens set, and calculation of effective accommodation amplitude using 1/2 and 2/3 of the maximum accommodation amplitude. The research results for participants aged in their fifties, sixties, seventies, and eighties showed 1.84~2.46D, 1.55~2.06D, 1.43~1.90D, and 1.22~1.62D respectively. It is relatively higher than the existing knowledge regarding accommodation amplitude associated with age.

Since conventional methods for measuring stride length(distance) are many weaknesses, optical methods have been developed to measure stride length(distance) of human pedestrians. IR(Infrared) elements and Power LED(Light Emitting Diode) with two types of lens were used to correlate detected light intensity with stride length(distance). The suggested methods in this study are simple, convenient, and cost effective. The results can be used to analyze walking patterns of normal and disabled men, and to monitor the recovering processes of the disabled patients.
The deep-learning-based measurement method with the through-focus scanning optical microscopy (TSOM) estimated the size of the object using the classification. However, the measurement performance of the method depends on the number of subdivided classes, and it is practically difficult to prepare data at regular intervals for training each class. We propose an approach to measure the size of an object in the TSOM image using the deep-learning regression model instead of using classification. We attempted our proposed method to estimate the top critical dimension (TCD) of through silicon via (TSV) holes with 2461 TSOM images and the results were compared with the existing method. As a result of our experiment, the average measurement error of our method was within 30 nm (1σ) which is 1/13.5 of the sampling distance of the applied microscope. Measurement errors decreased by 31% compared to the classification result. This result proves that the proposed method is more effective and practical than the classification method.

At the present day, devices for measurement and control of data by wireless based computer have been generalized. The devices with low cost and high performance have been spotlighted. If Zigbee communication solution is used in dangerous places and places that can not in use wire communication, computer can process data without limitation. Zigbee communication solution is effective in power consumption as compared with RF or bluetooth and can use battery. System cost of Zigbee also is very low, so can install lots of nodes. The system made in this paper transmit by wireless many LMCs(Laser Measuring Control) of wireless transmission system for distance measurement and many slave Zigbee to a master Zigbee.

This study was carried out to measure the flaw height of welds in consideration of the effective probe angle in ultrasonic oblique detection. Specimens with inserted artificial flaws were made and flaw heights were estimated from detecting these specimens. Two different methods were applied to estimate flaw heights. From the result of the experiment, flaw height could be measured within the accuracy of 15% percent error and the difference between the probe distance method and beam path method is about 5% relatively small. It is considered that the results obtained this experimental study could be helpful informal ions for measuring flaw height.
