  • At the center of the repeating evolution of IT industry, there is mobile computing in the ubiquitous environment, and the increasing usage of smart phones contribute more to its growth. P corporation co-developed with Google and implemented smart work system called SWP for the purpose of 'communication and collaboration with co-workers' beyond the general goal of increasing productivity and comfort of employees. The primary objective of this study is to objectively analyze the influence of the effect factor from end user's perspective and user satisfaction on SWP usage, intention for continuous usage and individual performance. To accomplish this research purpose, this study established research models and hypothesis by collective review about information system success models, and tested the research hypotheses using the structural equation modeling technique by data collected from 320 SWP system users of P corporation. Variations for system satisfaction evaluation standard are 1)SW system usage 2) intention for continuous usage 3) individual performance, effect variations are 1) social factors 2) technical factors 3) combination of social and technical factors. Therefore, this study is about influence factors on success of SWP system and how the factors impact the outcome. The test results of this research model is summarized as follows. Firstly, system user's satisfaction had positive impact on all three; SWP system usage, intention for continuous usage and individual performance. Secondly, social factor 'SWP control system' and technical factor 'information quality' and 'system quality' had positive impact on SWP system user satisfaction, while social factor 'shared value' and technical factor 'service quality' did not have significant effect on user satisfaction. Shared value however, had interactive effect with 'information quality' and 'service quality'. This study is expected to contribute to spread of academic research on smart work system by suggesting a model that can show important factors for corporation while explaining the successful implementation of SWP and its continuous usage.

  • This article studied the motivational factor of participation skill competition and their effectiveness. This study was restricted to cooks within those who had participated in a cooking contest to allow measurement of participation and satisfaction. This thesis investigated 116 cooks by questionnaires from April 6, 2005 to April 23, 2005, of which 106 responses were used for statistical processing to perform this study First, from the motive of participation, 13 variables were analyzed into 3 factors such as the factor of social recognition, the factor of speciality, and the factor of self-development and self-realization. The factor as a motive of participating in skill competition has a significant effect on effectiveness. A total of three factors were extracted from Recognition consisting of 10 variables. Each factor was labeled as awareness of the competition, revision of test questions, and selection of the judges of the competition. Second, three factors were derived from 12 variables in association with the effect of the contest, including factors of contribution to industry development, technical and technological effect, and psychological effect. In addition, it was revealed that the motive of participating in skill competition had an significant impact on recognition. Third, the results of regression analysis demonstrated that factors relating to recognition of skill competition and participation motives significantly influence on the effect of the contest. One limitation of this study is that the Population of the survey was limited to those who had Participated in the contest. Thus, the findings of this study may not be generalizable for other cases. It is clear that further research is needed to collect more in-dept data from other similar competitions in an effort to extend the application of the present results to other studies.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of design modification, decoration and color scheme of traditional Korean women's clothing on impression formation by 2 age groups of women. The instruments developed for the study were 2 sets of stimuli and a response scale. Stimuli I (design stimuli) consisted of 6 line drawings of female figures in Korean clothing and modified Korean style clothing, whereas stimuli II (color stimuli) consisted of 6 colored drawings of female figures in different color schemes. The 7-point semantic differential scale of 14 bipolar adjectives were used for the response scales. 144 female college students and 144 middle·aged women subjects were randomly assigned to one of 6 drawings from each set of stimuli. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, ANOVA and t-test. 1) There factors emerged to account for dimensions of design and color scheme, respectively. The first factor was interpreted as Evaluation/prestige both in design (stimuli I) and color scheme (stimuli II), the second factor was Modernity for stimuli I, and the third factor for stimuli I was Practicality. On the other hand, the Luxuriousness/Individuality was factor 2 and Modernity was factor 3 for stimuli ll. 2) Modification had the largest effect on impressions regarding design and decorated designs had a partial effect on the impression of Modernity and Practicality. The female figures in modified Korean style clothing were perceived as more prestigious, modern and practical than those in traditional Korean clothing. 3) Color schemes had little effect on impressions, while perceiver's age had a larger effect. Middle·aged women formed more positive impressions toward Korean clothing of various color schemes than female college students.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the concept of Greenhouse Effect as understood by middle school high school university students using a closed-form questionnaire. Based on results of the questionnaire which was administered to 619, the extent to which alternative concepts were held was quantified and compared the difference of various group based on grade level. gender, text and major. Also, subjects were divided into two groups, one is middle school students and the other is high school university students and common themes within conceptual framework of each group were identified by factor analysis. The result showed that students confused Greenhouse Effect with ozone layer depletion in stratosphere and linked familiar contamination around everyday life. acid rain. radioactive contamination, nuclear arsenal to Greenhouse Effect. These trends were more appreciable in female than male, biology major than any other major and text did not make any significant difference. In addition, the result of factor analysis showed that two groups linked familiar contamination around everyday life to Greenhouse Effect and high school university students understand the consequences of an increase in the Greenhouse Effect more systematically than middle school student, perceived the relation between the origin of an increase in the Greenhouse Effect and human activity but confused Greenhouse Effect with ozone layer depletion in stratosphere.

  • This experimental work was carried out to investigate the fatigue bending strength on various shapes and sizes of notches of the domestically manufactured steel plate. The notch types tested were a circular hole, U-and V-notches. The S-N diagram for different notch shapes were discussed in relation to plan bending strength and stress concentration factor of notches .The results of the experiments are summarized as follows : (1) The difference between stress concentration factor and notch factor was greater as the radium of notch root became smaller, and these values approached to an identical value as the radium of notch root increased. (2) It was shown that the plane bending fatigue limit of bar without notch for the hotrolled steel having the tensile strength of 33.1kg/$mm^2$was 17.0kg/$mm^2$. (3) U-and V-notch had a greater effect of stress concentration factor on the endurance limit, but O-hole showed the same effect only for $\o\pm2mm$. (4) For the same radius of notch root, U-notch showed a lower value of fatigue limit compared to V-notch and O-hole.

  • In a balanced factorial design with a nested factor where crossed factors as well as a nested factor exist simultaneously, powers of the rank transformed FR statistic for testing the main, nested and interaction effects are superior to those of the parametric F statistic. In heavy tailed distributions such as exponential and double exponential distributions, powers of the FR statistic show much higher level than those of the F statistic. Further powers of the F and FR statistic for testing the main effect show the highest level in an absolute size as compared with powers of the F and FR statistic for testing the nested and interaction effects. However powers of the FR statistic for testing the nested and interaction effects rather than the main effect are greater in a relative size than powers of F statistic for the all population distributions.

  • Donggwaja (Benincasae Semen), the seed of Benincasa hispida (Thunb.) Cogn., has been used in Korean traditional medicine to control the body heat and water retention caused by various diseases. Both the symptoms targeted by the herbal medicine in clinic and studies with disease mouse models support the potential anti-inflammatory effect of Donggwaja. However, it is less understood how Donggwaja exerts its possible anti-inflammatory effect. Here, we present evidence that Donggwaja suppresses macrophage inflammatory reactions via expressing tumor necrosis factor a-induced protein 3 (TNFAIP3 or A20) and suppressing NF-kB activity. The ethanol extract of Donggwaja (EED) showed no toxicity when added to RAW 264.7 cells less than 100mg/ml. When treating the cells for 16 h, EED significantly suppressed the nuclear localization of NF-kB, suggesting that EED suppresses NF-kB activity. Concordantly, a semi-quantitative RT-PCR analysis showed that EED decreased the expression of prototypic pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-a, IL(interleukin)-6, and IL-1b. EED induced in RAW 264.7 cells the expression of A20, a ubiquitin modulator that suppresses inflammatory signaling cascades initiated from TLR4 and TNF and IL-1 receptors, while not affecting the induction of Nrf2, an anti-inflammatory factor that could suppress the effect of NF-kB. These results suggest that EED exerts its suppressive effect on inflammation, at least in part, by expressing anti-inflammatory factor A20 and suppressing pro-inflammatory factor NF-kB activity.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine whether personality and reward affect PSM of new maritime police officer recruits. Results are as follows. First, among the personality factors, the neuroticism sub-factor had significant positive effect on PSM sub-factors favorable perception towards public policy, commitment to public interest, and empathy. Also, the extroversion sub-factor had significant effect only on the self-sacrifice sub-factor of PSM. Second, the reward factor mostly didn't have significant effect on PSM. The internal reward sub-factor had significant effect on the empathy sub-factor of PSM. These results confirm that personality factors have significant impact on public service motivation. This implicates the need for policy improvements to reflect this result, and further empirical studies on the relationship between reward and public service motivation.
