The aim of this study was to systematically collect data for evaluating short- and long-term outcomes using Kirkpatrick's four-level evaluation model, Chonnam National Medical School has established plans for developing and managing a database of student and graduate cohorts. The Education Evaluation Committee, with assistance from the Medical Education Office, manages the development and maintenance of cohort data. Data collection began in the 2022 academic year with first- through fourth-year medical students and graduates of the year 2022. The collected data include sociodemographic characteristics, admission information, psychological test results, academic performance data, extracurricular activity data, scholarship records, national medical licensing exam results, and post-graduation career paths. The Education Evaluation Committee and the Medical Education Office analyze the annually updated student and graduate cohort data and report the results to the dean and relevant committees. These results are used for admissions processes, curriculum improvement, and the development of educational programs. Applicants interested in using the student and graduate cohort data to evaluate the curriculum or conduct academic research must undergo review by the Educational Evaluation Committee before being granted access to the data. It is expected that the collected data from student and graduate cohorts will provide a sound and scientific basis for evaluating short- and long-term achievements based on student, school, and other characteristics, thereby supporting medical education policies, innovation, and implementation.
This study identified the effectiveness of e-learning by comparing learning outcome in conventional face-to-face lecture with the selected e-learning methods. Two e-learning contents (animation based and video based) were developed based on the rapid prototyping model and loaded onto the learning management system (LMS), which is http://www.enaged.co.kr. Fifty-four Korean agricultural high school students were randomly assigned into three groups (face-to-face lecture, animation based e-learning, and video based e-learning group). The students of the e-learning group logged on the LMS in school computer lab and completed each e-learning. All students were required to take a pretest and posttest before and after learning under the direction of the subject teacher. A one-way analysis of covariance was administered to verify whether there was any difference between face-to-face lecture and e-learning in terms of students' learning outcomes after controlling the covariate variable, pretest score. According to the results, no differences between animation based and video based e-learning as well as between face-to-face learning and e-learning were identified. Findings suggest that the use of well designed e-learning could be worthy even in agricultural education, which stresses hands-on experience and lab activities if e-learning was used appropriately in combination with conventional learning. Further research is also suggested, focusing on a preference of e-learning content type and its relationship with learning outcome.

The competition among nations has been extended to competition between localities, and the importance of knowledge activities in local areas is being emphasized. To contribute to the nurturing of highly qualified professionals and the development of local industry, the Korean government established the S&T-centric research universities including KAIST in 5 local areas. These S&T-centric research universities are top notch research centers and educational environments in Korea. However, it has been pointed out that their ability to act as local innovation hubs is limited. Accordingly, this study conducted an empirical analysis on the outcomes of the S&T-centric research universities by dividing them into two categories, Mode 1 and Mode 2, and comparing them with those of other general universities. It was found that the outcomes of the S&T-centric universities were higher in Mode 1, but lower in Mode 2, than those of the general universities. Furthermore, the S&T-centric universities are not connected very much to the region's specialized industries. It was difficult to find any evidence that the S&T-centric universities differ from the other universities in terms of their outcomes or activities as they were initially envisaged.
The School of Electrical Engineering and School of Civil, Urban, and Geosystem Engineering of Seoul National University (SNU) have conducted alumni surveys to evaluate the importance and preparedness of the engineering outcomes that are demanded in the industry and to feedback the survey results to the establishment of educational objectives and student capability and the revision of curricula. In this paper, first we analyzed the collected data to see the distributions of the respondents in terms of graduation year, profession, final degree, and so on. Second we evaluated the importance and preparedness of the engineering outcomes and compared them with those obtained at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of UCLA. The above-mentioned three groups gave very similar evaluation of the importance of each item of engineering outcomes, showing that the industry-demanding engineering outcomes are very similar regardless of country or major. Investigating the difference between the importance and preparedness, SNU showed relatively low preparedness compared to UCLA, meaning that SNU is somewhat behind UCLA in engineering education. On the other hand, all the three groups showed considerably poor preparedness in the abilities to function on multi-disciplinary teams and to communicate effectively, indicating that is needed education to strengthen these abilities.
Objectives: The association between educational status and 10-year risk for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and all-cause mortality was evaluated. Methods: From October 2003 to September 2004, 2172 consecutive ACS patients from six Greek hospitals were enrolled. In 2013 to 2014, a 10-year follow-up (2004-2014) assessment was performed for 1918 participants (participation rate, 88%). Each patient's educational status was classified as low (<9 years of school), intermediate (9 to 14 years), or high (>14 years). Results: Overall all-cause mortality was almost twofold higher in the low-education group than in the intermediate-education and high-education groups (40% vs. 22% and 19%, respectively, p<0.001). Additionally, 10-year recurrent ACS events (fatal and non-fatal) were more common in the low-education group than in the intermediate-education and high-education groups (42% vs. 30% and 35%, p<0.001), and no interactions between sex and education on the investigated outcomes were observed. Moreover, patients in the high-education group were more physically active, had a better financial status, and were less likely to have hypertension, diabetes, or ACS than the participants with the least education (p<0.001); however, when those characteristics and lifestyle habits were accounted for, no moderating effects regarding the relationship of educational status with all-cause mortality and ACS events were observed. Conclusions: A U-shaped association may be proposed for the relationship between ACS prognosis and educational status, with participants in the low-education and high-education groups being negatively affected by other factors (e.g., job stress, depression, or loneliness). Public health policies should be aimed at specific social groups to reduce the overall burden of cardiovascular disease morbidity.
This study analyzed the satisfaction and utilization of the institutional applications used by child-education institutions from a parent's perspective. The research target is a parent who enlisted their children in private kindergarten institution located in Gyeong-gi province and final research outcomes are 443 in total. The difference in satisfaction and utilization have been identified with demographic descriptive statistics, students t-test, and F-test statistics analysis method. First, the result of T-test on the difference in satisfaction and utilization based on parents' employment status shows that statistically significant difference was found in convenience from overall satisfaction, communication from overall utilization and child-parent relationship. Second, the F-test of differences in satisfaction and utilization showed a statistically significant difference in education utilization variables, with all variables in educational background and motivation. In terms of utilization, parents' educational background and overall utilization, and children's age were confirmed to have significant differences in communication, children's relationship, and motivation in basic life. Third, the result of multiple regression analysis shows that all predictors, including ease of use, communication, and satisfaction with educational activities, have a statistically significant impact on utilization standard variables, relative contributions showed the highest level of communication satisfaction. Therefore this paper implicates that institutional applications can maximize educational effectiveness by checking the applicability of active communication and educational activities with parents and actively communicating with parents in early childhood through various educational content applications.
In this study, we explored the degree to which foreign workers in Korea are satisfied with their lives. We examined the extent of the respondents'educational mismatch, their experiences of discrimination, and the empowerment influence on their degree of life satisfaction. Based on this, we developed practical implications to improve foreign workers'life satisfaction in the country. The results show that life satisfaction significantly rises as the respondents'educational credentials increasingly match with the criteria for their respective jobs, given that they have not experienced discrimination and their empowerment level is high. Based on these outcomes, we proposed the following important policy measures: mediation and diminishing educational mismatch during job searches, establishing legal and institutional frameworks to prevent discrimination, and placing greater emphasis on efforts to improve foreign workers'empowerment. We expect our findings to provide an important empirical basis for efforts to facilitate foreign workers'integration into Korean society. This study is the first attempt to apply concepts such as foreign workers'empowerment and educational mismatch -as defined by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development's Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (OECD PIAAC) -to foreign workers in Korea.

Purpose: This study, which is based on the investment payback periods, aims to suggest the proper insulation level which can be adapted to the Defense Military Facility Criteria regarding the military residential condominiums. For the energy performance simulation, it is required to collect the residential data regarding the military condominiums and climatic data concerning the regions they belongs to. The estimates through energy performance simulation are the regional heating loads and the heating transmission coefficients of building components. Method: With the heating loads, the annual heating cost saving per square meters is assessed. With the heating transmission coefficients of building components, the additional insulation installment cost per square meters is evaluated. With two outcomes, one as an annual value and the other as a present value, the investment payback period is calculated. Result: In result, it could be concluded that 55~70% insulation ratio can lead a superior residental environments as well as be contributed to the national policy associated with zero-energy buildings because the estimated investment payback period is shorter than the life span of the military residental condominiums. This upshot can be used as a foundation to enactment the Defense Military Facility Criteria associated with military residential condominiums.
