  • The purpose of this study is to explore relationships between company's characteristics, the status of business ethics education, employee perceptions of corporate business ethics, and organizational performance. A total of 161 small- and medium-sized apparel companies participated in a survey and data was analyzed using cross-tabulation, ANOVA, and SPSS PROCESS. The results show that, larger companies involved with export are more likely to implement business ethics education, whereas no company characteristic is associated with perceptions of corporate business ethics. Furthermore, apparel companies that implemented or planned to implement business ethics education, have employees with more positive perceptions of corporate business ethics and better organizational performance than fashion companies that have no plan to implement such education. In addition, companies in the apparel sector with higher employee perceptions of corporate business ethics had greater organizational performance than apparel companies with lower employee perceptions of corporate business ethics. This study emphasizes the need to implement business ethics education to enhance employee perceptions of company business ethics, which in turn promotes organizational performance. It is expected that the results of this study will positively affect the development and expansion of business ethics education programs and contribute to the foundation of knowledge for business ethics education for fashion companies.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the importance level, the present level, and the educational need for 21 business ethics components among 2-year and 4-year college students majoring in fashion. Survey data of 364 students (128 students of 2-year colleges and 238 students of 4-year colleges) were analyzed through descriptive statistics, Borich's needs assessment for education, The Locus for Focus model, exploratory factor analysis, and t-test. The results showed five business ethics components ranked highly as educational needs among college students: 'reducing waste', 'using vegan materials', 'using human-friendly materials', 'strengthening sustainable technologies', and 'promoting workers' rights'. Those components should be integrated into curricula of fashion majors in colleges. Students in 4-year colleges considered most of 21 business ethics components as more important than did students at 2-year colleges. More needs for education were observed by 4-year college students in eight business ethics components than by 2-year college students. In addition, a positive attitude toward business ethics education and the suitability of business ethics education were higher among 4-year college students than 2-year college students. Results provide a guideline for business ethics education by indicating a list of business ethics components that urgently needed to be adapted to fashion curricula according to each college type.

In case of personnel ethics, before the education of business ethics, selfishness is at its peak and utilitarianism is in the lowest. • The main purpose of this study is to investigate foreigners' perception regarding Korean business culture and Korean business culture education. People who participated in this study are six foreign workers after studying at the university or graduate school in Korea. A phenomenological qualitative research method was used in this study in order to elicit life experiences from foreign workers who were working in Korea business companies. Therefore, their experience regarding Korean business culture and business culture education were measured by in-depth interviews. This study shows that nun-chi, vertical relationships, and impatience of Koreans are the most difficult culture to foreign workers. They also feel difficulties regarding Koreans' lack of understanding about other cultures. Moreover, these were not difficult components within school life; rather, the most difficult aspects were that they have never learned about the Korean business culture before getting a job. The results show that international students who want to work in Korea companies need to study about the culture of Korean business and revealed the desirability to learn. These results can be used as a foundation for understanding some contents and criterion of Korean business culture and education.

  • In this paper we expand on the notion of "integration" in terms of the variety of ways in which it would manifest itself in business education. Our main argument is that "integration" is multidimensional and has been manifest in pedagogy, research and service dimensions of university programs for a long time. However, assessments of "integration" efforts have been spotty thus far and only recently are being formalized. We present several examples in business curriculum and with increased focus on formal assessments of "integration" efforts, business education will become more pragmatic. The goal of this paper is to unpack the broad construct of "integration," and discuss its historical and current manifestations in business education. Ultimately, we conclude that while the process of integrative thinking is well underway for a long time in business education, the assessment of outcomes of integrative thinking is just taking root through formal ETS tests. We believe that integrative thinking in business education is an ultimate indicator of the effectiveness of the business curriculum, as students skilled in this area will be best prepared for the real-life jobs in the market place.

  • Business plan competitions and related education are common activities to regions that are, or desire to be, important innovative and start-up regions. The literature is contradictory regarding the value of formal business plans (FBPs) toward venture planning, capital acquisition, and education. This study analyzes the relevant literature and sample of 35 FBPs to assess these contradictions. We propose the theoretical constructs of "myth and ceremony" to explain the loose coupling of FBPs to real business environments, an observation consistent with theory that suggests organizations perpetuate the myths of their institutional environment to maintain their legitimacy. We offer Action Business Planning as an alternative to more accurately address the realities of venture creation and survival, and for education.
