  • Since 2015, the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) has performed annual qualitative assessments of asthma management provided by all medical institutions that care for asthma patients in Korea. According to the third report of qualitative assessment of asthma management in 2017, the assessment appears to have contributed to improving the quality of asthma care provided by medical institutions, especially primary clinics. However, there is still a gap between the ideal goals of asthma management and actual health care policies/regulations in real clinical settings, which leads to the state of standstill with respect to the quality of asthma management despite considerable efforts such as the qualitative assessment of asthma management by national agencies such as the HIRA. At this point, a harmonized approach is needed to raise the level of asthma management among several components including medical policies, efforts of academic associations such as education and distribution of the guideline for management, and reliable financial support by the government.

However, the management of hospital schools varies greatly depending on the amount of resources and support they possess, and especially the lack of manpower and quality improvement of education programs were found to be the biggest problems. This study aims to discuss the case of Hospital School in Yeungnam University Hospital (YUH), which successfully overcame internal resource limitations while solving existing hospital schools through networking and open innovation with external organizations. In particular, through cooperation with students of Herewego, volunteering club in Yeungnam University business school(YUBS), we increased the social interest of hospital school by creating a special program with financial support of Daegu city. They created customized education service programs for hospital schools that reflect their major-business management. The cooperativ e case of YUH's Hospital School and YUBS's Volunteering Club of Herewego showed that the cooperation is not only about volunteering service but also the open innovation, introduced as a platform to expand the company's source of product development. We think that this is a case of value creation through exchange of knowledge. It could have many implications for solving the problem of hospital school.

  • In order to realize the benefits of ITSM, it is necessary to institutionalize ITSM into the organizational culture. Currently, efforts to routinize ITSM lack in practice, and research in this area is also lacking. This study identifies the factors affecting the routinization of ITSM through literature review and interviews with experts, selects a company that has successfully routinized ITSM, and analyses the activities, methods, and procedures employed by the company on the factors in detail. The specific factors analyzed in the study include fulfillment of the customer requirements, top management support, communication, change management, training and education, quality of the ITSM system, and capability of the personnel. Important points verified in this study is that in order to realize organizational performance from ITSM, just the adoption of ITSM is not enough, but the routinization of ITSM through continuous and systematic management and improvement with the support of top management are required. Since this study is a descriptive case study, results of the study cannot be generalized. However, the study will provide practical information that can be referenced by the organizations attempting to routinize ITSM. In addition, results of the study will provide a basis of future research in ITSM.
