In this paper, we propose the effect of project-based robot education program on the interest toward robots and the computational thinking of elementary school students. Software education is being actively carried out around the world in order to cultivate software talents in accordance with the 4th industrial revolution. As a result, the importance of robots in education has increased, and education using robots has been actively introduced. However, the activities of simply assembling and repeating robots in schools were not effective in enhancing elementary school students' interest toward robots and computational thinking. Therefore, it is necessary to overcome traditional teaching-learning methods and to develop robot education. So, in this study, the robot education program that introduces project-based learning was developed for improvement of interest toward robots and computational thinking of elementary school students. In order to verify the developed education program, 114 elementary six grade students were selected as research subjects and the traditional teaching-learning method and project-based learning were applied to the experimental and control group. As a result, project-based learning was more effective for elementary school students' interest toward robot than traditional teaching-learning method. In computing thinking, the experimental group showed a significant improvement, but there was no statistically significant difference in the post-test.

In this study, we conduct SW education using robot in elementary school, to examine the effects of SW education using robot on CT and gender differences. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, SW education using robot was conducted to 143 students in 5, 6 grade in GyeongGi. After collecting data, we examined mean difference using matched pair t-test and ANCOVA. The results of this study were as follows: The SW education using robot is associated with significant improvements in CT, however, computational concepts is not associated with significant improvement in high initial score sub sample. And CT is not associated with gender. This study was investigated effects of the SW education using robot and identify gender differences. And expanded the understanding of the SW education using robot.
This paper deals with an example of the engineering education through the SE-based development of an underwater-robot kit model. It has a purpose of establishing the example of a SE-based development by undergraduate through executing the requirement and functional analysis, hardware and software design, manufacturing, test and evaluation for developing the model. In addition, it also has a purpose of establishing the basis of the development of an optimized underwater-robot kit through understanding the weight and buoyancy characteristics and the actuation and propulsion characteristics of the developed model.

Although there are some calculations of kinetics, dynamics, torque of each joint, size and weight which are used in implementing of humanoid robot, it is too expensive and need much education to make frame of robot body, actuator, and etc. Moreover, since there is lots of differences of operational principle, we need many kinds of experimental and education. However, the real humanoid robot is difficult to propagate because of its prices and other technical problems. Therefore we need small robot platform and control method which can give a enough education effect as similar as real humanoid robot. In this paper, the Kinect Sensor which made by Microsoft will be used for control method of humanoid platform.

Recently, the perception of software education, which had been considered as a field of education for programmers in this field, is changing in response to recent changes with the trend of 4th industrial revolution. Major counties competitively invest in software education and the target age group for software education is also on the decline. However, the traditional text-based programing languages such as JAVA and Python, have a high entry barrier. To address the shortcoming, a variety of methods have been recently proposed for the effective software education for kindergarten and elementary school student. In this paper, we propose a robot-based coding education system with steps for coding education for effective software education. The proposed method is divided into three stages, depending on the level of the student being trained in the software coding education to interact with robots. The proposed stages consists of unplugged coding using a remote control, coding using a graphic-based programming language and text- based coding. We conducted an experiment with performing separate missions while providing propoer tutorials for each stage to verify the effectiveness of the proposed software education system.

As the 4th industrial revolution has progressed in recent years, the importance of robot education in elementary school education is increasing. In this paper, I suggested robot education framework to consider conceptual understanding and learning activities based on the 2014, 2015 KAIE software education standard curriculum for elementary school. The framework is reconstructed the 7 stages, In order to generalize the standardized model of the software curriculum, the achievement criteria should be prepared according to the content system of the curriculum considering the conceptual understanding and learning activities proposed in this paper, and if the educational contents are developed and utilized, it is expected to contribute to the activation of robot education in addition to elementary school software education.

This paper evaluates the appropriateness of the proposed robot education curriculum to consider conceptual understanding and learning activities model considering the curriculum and achievement criteria in order to make it easier to apply for a course in robot area. The professors of dept. of computer education at national universities of education reviewed the importance of education contents system and appropriateness of education period. Based on the results of the review, the conceptual elements and achievement standards of each sub-area were revised and supplemented, and then evaluated in three stages. Finally, the educational elements of the concept factors and achievement criteria were agreed upon. The proposed robotic computing education information systems and the achievement standards for schools in the area, as well as to match the grade level of the students without distinction variety of robots will be able to take advantage of computing education activities to reorganize the robot computing courses.

Teaching aids Robot Education, through early education and contests, is very commonly known to elementary school students, their parents and teacher. However, not only we do not have complete knowledge of how robot education for after school performs, but also we lack a proper management skills in educating new teachers and running a structured program. Thus, through this research, we would like to identify the problems in teacher's knowledge and how the robot education is running according to provinces, size of cities, public private school, and size of schools and provide proper and most effective way of teaching after school robot class. According to the result of this research of running 'Robot class' in different area, sub-areas and size of schools, there was a meaningful difference and the biggest problem in performance was the class organization. In addition, about the expectation through after school classes, the research showed that the teachers expect lower cost of private education and improvement in creativity the most.

Recently, STEM education and improvement in creativity took a lot of attention in local and foreign educational programs, and the robot education is regarded as one of the answers which can achieve the objectives. The robot education is quite active locally in various ways including robot classes for after school program in elementary schools, a number of robot competitions, and education for the gifted. Under these circumstances, the qualification test for robot technology is developed to provide a standard for evaluating professional knowledge on robotics and is currently under consideration to be one of the government-approved qualification tests. However, compared to the robot classes for after school program, this test is not well recognized by most teachers in elementary and middle schools. This paper addresses and analyzes the current status of the test, in particular, backgrounds, qualification standards, organizing committee, intention of presenting questions, examples of problems used in the test, and demands raised by applicants, etc. Base on the analysis, some suggestions are made to establish a solid standard for evaluating robot technologies. It is suggested that the level of difficulty and contents covered should be properly adjusted considering the level of applicants. In addition, it is essential to provide well organized supplementary material for students and wide range of contents on robot technology. Finally, some efforts including cooperating with the robot classes for after school program should be made to invigorate the test.

Current computer education is moving its focus from using oriented education to improving students' creativity and problem solving ability by computer science education. Robot programming education is becoming a major research issue of computer education in the context of creativity education. One of the mainstream ideas of prior research about robot programming is the effect of robot programming. Another is curriculum development of robot programming. But, the focus of current research is moving toward teaching methods of robot programming. The theme of this research is to use examples in robot programming. Example programs are considered the most useful type of material both by the students and the teachers. Example programs play a important role in learning to program. They work as templates, guidelines, and hints for learners when developing their own programs. In this study, I developed a example-based robot programming support system. Due to the trends of smart learning, I developed this system as a mobile web application.
