Purpose: This study was designed to explore the parental stress, behaviors and need for parental education of young women with breast cancer and how these variables are related to their children characteristics. Methods: The subjects were 110 young women with breast cancer who have a child. Data were collected using questionnaire of parenting stress, parental behaviors and need for parental education. Results: The subjects reported many unmet needs for parental education, and have the highest level of need for education related to breast cancer. Women with daughters have higher level of need for parental education compared to subjects with sons. There was a negative correlation between parenting stress and parental behaviors and between parenting stress and need of parental education. Conclusion: As these results, the development and application of parental education program for mothers with breast cancer in the future should be considered with the demographic characteristics, the social and cultural environment, parenting stress, and parental behaviors of parents and children.

Purpose: This study was performed to identify job competencies and needs for job education perceived by new community health practitioners. Methods: This study used a qualitative research design. Eight new community health practitioners participated in this study. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using content analysis. Results: Five job competencies were identified in this study, including primary care, public health management, interpersonal relationship, teaching and counseling, and leadership. The contents of job education that they needed were management of major symptoms and chronic diseases, understanding and prescription of medications, emergency responses and care, management of endemic diseases, planning and management of public health programs, writing official documentsand computer works, and leadership training. The learning methods they preferred were connecting theory and practice, situation- or case-based learning, skill- or practice-based learning, and increased opportunities of clinical practice. Conclusion: The findings of this study provided the direction of job education for new community health practitioners. Job education for new community health practitioners needs to consider the job competencies and educational needs identified in this study.
In this study, focus group interviews were used to investigate female university students' eating behavior, factors related to eating behavior, information sources for nutrition, and formats for nutrition education. Thirty-six students participated in one of five focus groups during December 1998 in Seoul. Focus group discussions were video, audio-taped, transcribed and analyzed by major themes. Results showed that subjects have undesirable eating behaviors, such s eating irregular meals and skipping meals. These behaviors are caused by a lack of time, habit, or for the purpose of losing weight. The students tended to have unbalanced diets and frequently ate out. They had a large amount for dinner and frequently snaked when stressed or had an empty stomach. Most of them were interested in weight control and had attempted to lose weight, but they did not participate in regular exercise. The most frequently used source for nutrition information was the mass media, but much nutrition information was based on what they learned from home economics class during middle to high school. They received more support from mothers, elder sisters, and friends for eating behaviors, such s lowering caloric intake and losing weight. In nutrition education, they wanted to learns behaviorla skills to adopt healthy behaviors, including meal planning, applying scientific weight control methods, exercise that fit into their lives, and stress management. They also mentioned that nutrition screening and assessment should be a part of nutrition education programs. As a method for nutrition education, subjects preferred an individualized approach to group education. These results provide the qualitative information for developing nutrition education programs which will be implemented for Korean University students.
Objectives: To determine the factors affecting the assessment of Oriental medical institutions under the Oriental Medical Institution Assessment System and thereupon, provide for some basic data and alternative measures for assessment of Oriental medical institutions. Methods: The researcher sampled 320 people employed by 26 Oriental medical institutions designated as model Oriental medical institutions subject to assessment in 2008 and 2009 and thereupon, used a structured and open-ended survey table for them to collect the data. The size of the final sample was n=302. Results: The Oriental medical institution staff were highly aware of the Oriental medical institution assessment (OMIA), After adjusting the other factors by multiple regression, the factors affecting such recognition were different significantly depending on age (those in their 30's), types of job (nurses and treatment assistants) and locations of hospital (GyeongSang-do). The staff expected the OMIA could helpful for improving facilities and system of hospitals, thus promoting satisfaction of patients. To do so, they felt it necessary to develop an assessment scale reflecting the special conditions besetting the Oriental medical institutions as well as the indices for improvement of Oriental medical service quality. Conclusion: It is hoped that this study will be followed up by future studies which will comparatively analyze Oriental medical institution staff's perception of the assessment system before and after its operation and thereby, suggest some ideal policy alternatives for assessment of the Oriental medical institutions. Furthermore, future studies are requested to research into Oriental medical institution staff's needs and consumers' needs as well in consideration of the characteristics of the Oriental medical institutions and thereupon, suggest some alternatives for continued education, development of the assessment tools, methods and policies.

This study aimed to investigate the current state and educational needs of risk education related to science and technology as perceived by secondary science teachers. A survey was conducted with a total of 366 secondary science teachers. The results are as follows. First, There were more teachers who had not provided education on risks arising from science and technology in terms of risk perception, risk assessment, and risk management than those who had not. Global warming was the most common risk taught by teachers, followed by earthquakes, artificial intelligence, and traffic accidents. Second, teachers recognized that they lacked understanding that the achievement standards of the 2022 revised science curriculum include risks that may occur due to science and technology, but they thought they were prepared to teach. Third, teachers recognized that their understanding of risk perception was higher than that of risk management and risk assessment. Fourth, the experience of teachers in training on risk was very limited, with fewer having training in risk assessment and risk management compared to risk perception. The most common training experienced was in laboratory safety. Fifth, teachers recognized that their capabilities for the 10 goals of risk education were not high. Middle school teachers or teachers majoring in integrated science education evaluated their capabilities relatively highly. Sixth, many teachers thought it was important to address risks in school science education. They prioritized 'information use', 'decision-making skills', and 'influence of mass media', in that order, for importance and called for urgent education in 'action skills', 'information use', and 'influence of risk perception'. Seventh, as a result of deriving the priorities of education needs for each of the 10 goals of risk education, 'action skills', 'influence of risk perception', and 'evaluate risk assessment' were ranked 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, respectively.
Spiritual care is at the center of hospice and palliative care. Patients facing serious and life-threatening illness have important needs in regard to faith, hope, and existential concerns. The purpose of this article is to review the key aspects of this care, including the definitions of spirituality, spiritual assessment, and spiritual care interventions. A review of the current literature was conducted to identify content related to spiritual care in hospice and palliative care. A growing body of evidence supports the importance of spiritual care as a key domain of quality palliative care. The literature supports the importance of spiritual assessment as a key aspect of comprehensive patient and family assessment. Spirituality encompasses religious concerns as well as other existential issues. Future research and clinical practice should test models of best support to provide spiritual care.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the educational needs of ICU nurses based on an analysis of importance, frequency, and difficulty for ICU nursing practice. Method: A cross-sectional survey was conducted using a questionnaire with 80 questions in 14 ICU nursing categories. Data were collected from August to October 2009. A total of 295 ICU nurses from five hospitals who had minimum of one year clinical experience participated. Data were analyzed with using descriptive statistics. Results: For importance, emergency care had the highest score, followed by physical assessment, communication, cardiovascular care, and ICU basic nursing. Regarding the frequency, physical assessment had the highest score, followed by communication, medication, ICU basic nursing, and respiratory care. Cardiovascular care was the most difficult task, followed by neurological care, emergency care, other ICU related nursing care, diagnostic test, and communication. Conclusion: The findings indicate a high educational need in the areas of communication, medication, physical assessment, diagnostic test, emergency care, and cardiovascular care. Thus the development of educational programs on communication, medication, physical assessment, diagnostic test, emergency care, and cardiovascular care are needed for ICU nurses.
This study was conducted to for the development of nursing education programs suitable for the period by identifying the unmet needs of kidney transplant surgery patients who need continuous self-care according to the elapsed period. The subjects of the study consisted of 84 inpatients and outpatients for up to 1 year after kidney transplant surgery. The data collection period was from February 17 to May 31, 2020, and the collected data were analyzed by Chi-square, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and post-test by Scheffé using the IBM SPSS 21.0 program. As a measurement tool, the Comprehensive Needs Assessment Tool in Cancer(CNAT), a tool to assess unmet needs of cancer patients, was modified and supplemented to receive expert validity, and then self-report through a questionnaire consisting of a total of 57 questions. As a result of the study, the average of the total score out of 171points for the unmet needs of kidney transplant patients was 68.28(±38.88), and information and education accounted for the highest score of 17.92(±8.36) out of the eight sub-areas. The unmet needs according to the elapsed period were significantly higher in the 6 months ~1 year group(F=7.57, p=.001) compared to the 3-6 months group. Based on this, it is necessary to develop a nursing intervention program that can provide appropriate information and support at a time when the unmet needs of patients up to increase from 6 months to one year after kidney transplantation increase.
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to describe the development of health educational program for maternity using principle of user centered design. Method: Research process includes five distinct phases: needs assessment, analysis, design, development/testing/revision, and application release. Results: This program includes an introduction, pregnancy test and fetal assessment, maternal and fetal change during pregnancy, self-care methods during pregnancy, complication of postpartum period, process of labor, complication of pregnancy, self care during the postpartum period, information for parenting skill, father page, FAQ, helping resources and institutions. Conclusion: The program will be distributed to health centers for maternal health education. The second phase of this project was evaluation this program for further development of the program. The end result of this program will be pregnant women with a high degree of usability. Author believe this program have true potential in helping maternal health promotion and successful parenting.
This study analyzed the Entrepreneurial Competencies of Science and Technology Personnel from the point of view of the industry's demanders. It is necessary to change institutional and policy support from quantitative support to improvement of qualitative level. Specifically, this study used the Borich's Needs Assessment Model to determine what capabilities are currently lacking and which should be supplemented. As a result of analysis, it showed that the current level was lower than expected level. Especially, expectation level was high in order of team working, problem solving ability, communication, abstract thinking, job knowledge, Autonomy, leadership, risk-taking, and commercialization are all lower than the overall average. In the analysis of educational need, the most important factor of entrepreneurial competence appeared in order of problem solving ability, teamworking, job related knowledge, abstract thinking, and communication. This means that it is necessary to logically solve the problems that are encountered in various situations in the organization by using cooperation between the teams and their own job knowledge. In addition, education should be conducted to effectively communicate the results to others.
