The Effect of Perceived Organizational Support on Subjective Career Success: The Mediating Effect of Career Planning (조직지원인식이 주관적 경력성공에 미치는 영향: 경력계획의 매개효과 검증)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to identify the relations among perceived organizational support, career planning, and subjective career success (career satisfaction and job satisfaction). In particular, this study focuses on the mediating effect on the career planning between perceived organization and subjective career success. The target cases are employees of a Korean branch of a global company (A), which operates formal career program to support a career development for employees. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected from December, 2014 to March, 2015. 211 out of 300 questionnaires were returned (response rate 70.3%). After the data cleaning, 209 questionnaires were used for the data analysis. These data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and structural equation modeling (SEM). The whole process of the data analysis was accomplished using the SPSS 21.0 for windows and the AMOS 21 program. Results - The findings of the study are as follows: First, the better the organizational support is perceived, the higher career satisfaction and job satisfaction is. That is, the employees' career and job satisfaction is higher, when they feel themselves received more supporting. Second, perceived organizational support has a positive impact on employees' career planning. This result means that it is important to support employees in their career development. Third, career planning has a positive impact on career satisfaction, but not on job satisfaction. Lastly, it is verified that career planning has a mediating effect between the perceived organizational support and career satisfaction. Not only has the perception of an organizational support a direct impact on career satisfaction, but also an indirect impact through career planning. However, there is not an indirect relationship through career planning, just an direct relationship between the perception of an organizational support and job satisfaction Conclusions - Based on the findings of this study, the major conclusion of the study was as follows: The study provides theoretical values and practical implications for the fact that the differences of the subjective perception about organizational support exist among employees, and the differences have an impact on their career planning as well as subjective career success. Furthermore, some recommendations for workplace were suggested: The companies should support the career development for employees in organization level. Even though employment instability makes individual workers themselves to be responsible for their own career development, it is an important issue in organizational level that employees' career success could have positive effects on organizational development and success, as well. However, there is a limit in the study that analyzing results cannot be generalized due to the data from a single company. Some recommendations for future research are suggested: First, a comparative study should be conducted with other various companies. Second, a hierarchical analyzing model needs to be applied to substantiate how organizational context influences on subjective career success of employees.

Application of In-situ Produced Cosmogonic $^{10}$ Be and $^{26}$ Al for Estimating Erosion Rate and Exposure Age of Tor and Block Stream Detritus: Case Study from Mt. Maneo, South Korea (우주기원 방사성 핵종을 이용한 만어산 암설지형의 침식률 및 노출연대 측정)

  • CRN (Cosmogenic radionuclide) methodology has been a versatile tool applicable to a wide range of geomorphology. This study was underiaken to ascertain the rate of erosion and exposure age of mountain-top detritus (tors and block streams) on Mt. Maneo by employing the concentrations of in-situ produced cosmogenic $^{10}$ Be and $^{26}$ Al from bedrock surfaces that are exposed to cosmic rays. The results suggest that tors on the summit were positioned here during the glacial period but no later than 65ka and block streams have been stabilized also since the last glacial period but no later than 38ka. The tors on the summit have been eroded at a slower rate (9m/Ma) than blocks on the hillslope (15m/Ma) since the initial abrupt exposure of each landform to cosmic rays, suggesting that there is a slight difference in the rate of erosion between the summit and the hillslope, and that the local relief between the two areas has been increased. When the $^{26}$ Al/$^{10}$ Be-$^{10}$ Be concentrations from samples are plotted in Lal's steady-state erosion island, one sample (from a for) has complex exposure histories, which can be explained by the occurrence of multiple chipping event of 5cm to 60cm in length on the surface of the rock.

The Effects of an Instruction Using Geologic Planar Figures on High School Students' Ability of Spatial Visualization and Geologic Spatial Ability (지질 전개도를 활용한 수업이 고등학생의 공간 시각화 능력과 지질 공간 능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of an instruction using geologic planar figures on high school students' ability of spatial visualization and geologic spatial ability and also to explore its applicability as an instructional strategy through the investigation of students' perception about the instruction using mixed methodology. For this purpose, we developed 10 planar figures of geologic structures (2 horizontal layers, 2 vertical layers, 4 angular layers, 1 fault, and 1 fold), and tested students' spatial visualization ability and geologic spatial ability before and after the implementation in class. In addition, in order to investigate students' perception on the instruction, we conducted quantitative research using questionnaires comprised of the cognitive and the affective domain, and followed by focus group interview that was conducted to obtain deeper understanding of their perception. Findings revealed that the instruction using geologic planar figures was effective to enhance spatial visualization ability and geologic spatial ability. It was also helpful for students to enhance their ability to perceive the spatial configuration of the geologic structures as well as the ability to penetrate visually into the images of the structures. The results of the students' perception on the instruction showed that the students recognized the instruction using geologic planar figures as a strongly positive teaching method both in the cognitive and affective domain. We concluded that geologic planar figures could be used as an effective tool for the lesson of 'mapping and interpreting of geological map', and be highly applicable for the advanced class in high schools.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore applicability of teaching-learning methods for creative problem solving which was designed to improve students' creative thinking and problem solving competencies. Methodology is literature review and focus group interview. The students who attended the elective course 'creative women and science' was participated during 15 weeks. Through this teaching-learning methods, students were fully aware of learning methods for creative problem solving, sought for problems, clarified problems, found solutions through discussions, and continuously examined ideas by receiving feedbacks. They could deduce creative new solutions to solve encountered problems regarding team dynamics and apply it in real situation. As the results of applying teaching-learning methods for creative problem solving to a course in University, it had the advantages of enhancing students' competencies in analyzing problems and applying derived solutions in actual field.

  • Purpose - Social commerce is a certain way of how people buy some products together with others through the internet sites with mutual interactions among customers with the benefits of SNS when buying some products. At present, China market has some problems due to its rapid growing. However, empirical research or academic approach to social commerce has not been made enough. So, it is important for Chinese social market to develop and enlarge the customers with stability under the reliability and satisfaction. Also it is important for them to have repurchase intention. Nowadays, it is necessary to find the factors on customer satisfaction and trust, whereas consumers' dissatisfaction and unreliability are increasing on social commerce recently. In addition, researches on social commerce have been actively pursued by a variety of domestic and foreign scholars. However, researches on social commerce and Chinese market are short of, and they have some limitations because of the rapid growth of the market even though it is the early stage. The current situation requires researches on consumers' repurchase intention for continuing growth in the future according to the growth of Chinese social commerce. Research design, data, and methodology - The literature and the empirical studies are combined in order to achieve the purpose of the study. Deriving social commerce features and consumer properties as factors affecting the repurchase intention through the literature, and these factors have modeled a series of assumptions about the impact on satisfaction and trust, and have established hypotheses to verify them. The survey which is conducted to test the hypothesis and questionnaires are derived based on the variables discussed in the previous study. Appropriate measures were developed and tested on 227 respondents in China with a cross-sectional questionnaire survey. The path relationships of the research model were analyzed by SPSS 23.0 and Amos 23.0. Results - Research results about social commerce characteristics and factors affecting the repurchase intention are presented to Chinese market companies that adopt business models and consumer characteristics. In addition, this study focuses on the characteristics of social commerce, from two-dimensional characteristics of the consumer satisfaction, trust and the impact on the repurchase. Therefore, social commerce features and consumer properties based on the results of this study may lead the strategic implications that may increase the repurchase intention. Conclusions - The classification reviewing the previous findings related to social commerce and social commerce features affects social commerce repurchase (price discount, interactivity) and consumer characteristics (impulsivity, innovation, collectivism). It affects repurchase on factors and analyzes empirically. The empirical results identify major characteristics (social commerce characteristics, attributes) that affect the repurchase intention, and give the practical implications as well as the business strategies that are able to enhance social commerce repurchase consumers.   • This study is a recognition type study on the usefulness of the field-practice program conducted by departments related to eating out and cooking. The purpose of this study is to derive the common types found among students who have experienced on-the-job training in special cases where the completion of on-the-job training programs, such as the Department of Culinary Arts and Engineering, are designated as graduation requirements and major required courses. By analyzing, we will explore and analyze the factors and issues that can affect the program participation process. As a result of recognition type analysis, a total of four types were derived, and each type was named according to its specificity as follows. Type 1 (N = 8): Sense of Purpose Setting type, Type 2 (N = 8): Interaction Skill Acquisition Types, Type 3 (N = 6): Major Practice Education Enlargement Type, Type 4 (N = 6): The Field Adaptability Improvement Type was analyzed for each unique feature type. Based on the results, it is suggested that efforts to systematize the field practice regulations, improve the government's field practice system plans, and discover new industries to provide opportunities for cultivating practical skills by supplementing the problems of the field practice regulations.

  • Purpose - It suggests that making a policy and strategies for a way of Dubai has a strong priority strategy on science and technology by using much oil dollars to prepare risk when oil dollar's decrease. This has been now investigated how the leading innovator has changed the periphery countries. Research design, data, and methodology - Analyze policy, status, what other neighbouring Middle East countries also want to benchmark a successful case of a leading Dubai strategy. Higher manpower is needed absolutely to develop S&T. and etc. Dubai and Arab countries establish university to nurture as well as invite the talented manpower from overseas to recover deficient manpower. Dubai built totally academy city and invited branch of the overseas famous university, and Saudi Arabia built university(KAUST) and invite faculty and support good scholarship for students. Abrab countries especially, This is studied the process of differentiating and integrating the migrant workers of these cities into the globalized cities. This has resulted in large-scale employment for foreign and local companies in these cities and the spread of science and innovation. Results - Dubai supports venture or SMEs by using a strong priority strategy and attracts foreigner's investor, with which the neighbouring countries have been preparing together for 4th wave. It demonstrates that the gravitational model has been activated from neighboring countries of innovation science to create Dubai's hub. The maturity of long-term urban innovation is related to innovation capability through the national response and review. As a result, the flow of skilled international migration has been localized because of the mutual intersection with the local employment structure, and the development has spread as it spreads to neighboring countries. Conclusion - For the exploiting of new Distribution market in the neighbouring countries, Middle East countries' a strong priority strategy on S&T and education system give an influence on economic situation of the 4th wave in the world and world order of leading by USA, Japan, or EU, and etc. This is due to the creation of clusters in the form of SEZs, friendly industrial policies and world-class infrastructure and innovation development. Its neighbours benchmark the cases of distribution of science innovation and centralizes the surrounding people.

A Study on the Problems and Improvements of the Management System for Foreign Seafarers Boarding Korean Ocean-Going Vessels (우리나라 외항상선에 승선하는 외국인 선원 관리제도의 문제점 및 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigated the current status of the management system for foreign seafarers boarding Korean ocean-going vessels and analyzed the problems and suggested measures for improvement through the survey of shipping companies, ship management companies, crew manning companies and related associations. The conclusion is summarized as follow. First, it is necessary to reorganize and apply the collective agreements or the laws applicable to the foreign seafarer separately in regard to the foreign seafarer related laws and collective agreements applied in the same way as the Korean seafarer. Second, it is necessary to change the decision-making to shipowner in deciding on the number of foreign seafarers employed by the Korean ocean-going vessels or if the decision-maker remains the same, the relevant laws must be clearly defined pertinent to the decision-maker. Additionally, the number of foreign seafarers should be applied for each position and ship's type. The third is to expand the recognition arrangement for certificate of ships' officers to Eastern Europe and Asian countries to expand the range of options for hiring foreign seafarers. The fourth is to prevent the waste of administrative manpower by simplifying complicated and unnecessary administrative procedures from hiring and boarding of foreign seafarers. The fifth is to establish a systematic training and education system for foreign seafarers in cooperation with related shipping companies and government authorities, associations and so on. This study will contribute to providing a more efficient and systematic management of foreign seafarers boarding Korean ocean-going vessels.

Multicultural Childcare in Japan: Current Circumstances and Future Perspectives (다문화 사회에서의 일본의 「다문화보육」)

  • The number of multi-cultural members, such as immigrant labors, international marriage women are gradually increasing in Japan society. Now it might be said that Japan has become a multi-cultural society. Recently in Japanese kindergartens and nursery schools the numbers of foreign and bi-cultural children are increasing. The aim of this paper is to review the researches on the cultural diversity in the Japan, especially in childcare. Methodology proceeds from a review of related literature to internet-based data and to the statistics issued by the government. Through reviewing them, the problems of teachers' assumptions and the importance of discussions about teachers' competencies to educate minority children and to communicate with their parents were suggested. As a switch over to multi-cultural society is occurring in Japan, the attitude of assimilationism is weakening, and the local community is now beginning to tolerate the multi-cultural childcare. Consequently, It was over to age that is distinguish identity from only nationality.

A methodology for an effective utilization of construction equipment for highway construction projects (도로공사 공정계획을 위한 공정 로직 및 건설장비 효율화 방안)

  • Highway construction is a combination of linear, repetitive, and highly equipment intensive operations. Various types of construction equipment are deployed to ensure undisrupted performance of construction, and thus productivity improvement and cost-saving can be achieved through well-thought-out planning. The selection of construction equipment is dependent upon construction sequence, site conditions, and construction methods. In the process of planning, management should consider various types of construction methods per each type of construction operation. Also, management should map out proper construction equipment operation plan that takes the construction duration and cost measures into consideration. However, limited availability of historic data from the similar types of operations has been a stumbling block to proper construction planning, making the operations performed based upon experience and intuition guided by rules-of-thumb. As a consequence, the planing phase rarely provided an adequate validity in the implementation phase. The researchers developed a process logic for each construction type that management can utilize from early phase of highway construction planning process. Moreover, derived the construction equipment combination optimized for efficiency by using the process simulation technique. The developed method is expected to be useful for the decision-making process that aims to evaluate efficiency of various process plans and to ensure optimal selection of construction equipment for highway construction projects.
