여성의 교육과 첫 직업성취: 연관성의 시계열적 변화양상 (Education and First Occupational Attainment among Korean Women: Trends in the Association)

  • 지난 몇 십 년 간에 걸쳐 한국 사회에서 남성들은 물론 여성들의 교육수준은 급속하게 증가하였다. 본 연구는 이러한 배경을 염두에 두면서 여성들의 교육수준이 첫 직업획득에 어떠한 영향을 끼치며 또 그것은 어떠한 양상으로 변하였는지 살펴본다. 이를 위해 한국여성개발원에서 2001년에 수집한 $\ulcorner$제4차 여성취업실태조사 원자료$\lrcorner$를 이용해 노동시장에 처음으로 진입한 시점을 기준으로 1980년 이전, 1980년대, 그리고 1990년대 코호트를 구분하였다. 우선, 코호트별로 상이한 교육과 직업의 분포를 통제한 후 교육과 직업의 전반적인 연관성을 파악하기 위해 대수선형모형(log-linear model) 분석을 시도하였다. 그 결과 최근 코호트로 올수록 교육과 직업의 전반적인 연관성이 약화되는 것으로 나타난다. 이어 OLS 회귀분석을 통해 각각의 교육수준이 직업위세점수에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았으며, 분석결과는 교육수준간 직업위세점수 차이가 최근 코호트로 올수록 감소하였다는 것을 보여준다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 그간 한국 사회의 급속한 교육팽창의 맥락 하에서 여성의 교육과 직업의 연관성이 점점 약화되어왔다는 것을 보여준다.

한국 성인남녀의 교육 수준과 비만 간 관계 : 연령에 따른 변화를 중심으로 (The Relationship between Educational Attainment and Obesity among Korean Adults : Focusing on Age Variations)

  • Objectives: Despite the considerable interest in the increase in obesity particularly of socially disadvantaged group in Korea, how obesity varies according to various socio-demographic characteristics still remains largely unanswered. To further develop the understanding of obesity in Korea, the present study focuses on the possibility that the relationship between educational attainment and obesity varies across age. Methods: Using 2010 Korea National Health & Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES), this study divides the adults into male and female groups and examines the interaction effect of age and educational attainment on obesity through binominal logit models for each group. Results: The most educated male group is more likely to be obese than those who did not complete high school. And the relationship between male's educational attainment and obesity does not significantly change across age. In contrast to male's obesity pattern, female educational attainment has a significant negative association with obesity. The gap in obesity across educational groups converges after middle ages in female. Conclusions: Health policies should pay more attention to those who are more vulnerable to obesity risk in order to effectively reduce obesity.

유아기 자녀를 둔 어머니의 사회적지지, 양육 효능감 및 자녀 성취에 대한 기대 (Relationsluips between Maternal Social Support, Parenting-Efficacy, and Aspirations for their Child's Attainment)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine whether maternal social support, parenting-efficacy, and the mothers' aspirations for their child's attainment were related. The subjects were 156 mothers with high socioeconomic status and 156 mothers with low socioeconomic status, whose 4-5 year old children were attending daycare centers. The results showed that the mothers with higher socioeconomic status had higher levels of social support, parenting efficacy, and aspirations for their child's attainment than those with lower socioeconomic status. There were also positive relationships between a childhood mothers' maternal social support, parenting efficacy, and the mothers' aspirations for their child.

Higher Education Expansion and Labor Market Outcomes: The Case of Vietnam

  • This study investigates how dramatic increase of university and college graduates affects labor market outcomes. Using a series of seven repeated cross sections of the Vietnam Household Living Standards Surveys, this paper analyzed the changes in the rate of returns to higher education attainment along with the increased supply of university and college graduates due to the higher education expansion throughout the 2002-2014 period. The study utilized a ratio of number of university and college students to the number of upper-secondary pupils within each province as an instrumental variable to calculate the effects of higher education expansion on the labor wage. The study found that, with the basic equations, the coefficients for higher education attainment are statistically significant and have positive values for the whole period. Our instrumental variables were found to be valid. For instrumental variable estimation, the return to higher education in IV earning equations was quite high. The findings of this study suggested that the expansion of the higher education system in Vietnam during 2002-2014 had positive effects on wages for those who increased their education attainment due to the reforms and there was a declining trend of the returns to higher education toward the end of the period.

사회경제적 지위와 사회적 관계가 우울에 미치는 영향 (The effects of socioeconomic position and social relationship on the depresson)

  • Objectives: This study was to examine the independent and mediating effect of socioeconomic position and social relationship on depression. Methods: The study analyzed the data from the 2014 Korea Welfare Panel Study(n=9,172) using descriptive statistics, Kendall's rank correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and the Sobel test. Results: Much of the connection between parental socioeconomic position and respondent depression was explained by respondent educational attainment in men but was not in women. A large portion of the association between educational attainment and depression was explained by type of household and satisfaction with social relationship among men. The effect of educational attainment on depression was fully mediated by type of household among women. The effect of type of household on depression was partly mediated by satisfaction with social relationship in men and women. Lastly, educational attainment, type of household and satisfaction with social relationship had an independent association with depression among men, but educational attainment was not statistically significant among women. Conclusions: Our study illuminated the importance of the independent and mediating effect of parental and respondent socioeconomic position and social relationship in the production of depression for South Korean adults.

Effects of Collective Promotion on the Attainment of Goals of Basic Education in English-Speaking Primary Schools in Cameroon

  • This study aims at investigating the effects of collective promotion on the attainment of literacy, numeracy, and essential life skills by primary school pupils and also to find out if the policy of collective promotion meets its objective of minimization of wastage in basic education. The study used written tests for pupils in the final class (Level II, class 6) to collect data in some selected English-speaking primary schools in Meme Division of Cameroon. Descriptive statistics and a one way ANOVA were used for analyzing data. The results revealed that the policy of collective promotion negatively affects the attainment of literacy, numeracy, and essential life skills of pupils in Kumba, Meme Division. Teachers who assisted in the study through personal communication with the researcher argued that collective promotion in basic education does not achieve its objective of minimizing wastage of educational resources; neither does it positively improve the literacy, numeracy, and essential life skills of pupils. This study recommends that the policy of collective promotion can be revisited and that focus be placed not only on minimizing wastage of resources but also on investing on quality education system so as to equip the would-be leaders of tomorrow with skills, knowledge, and attitudes which will make them functional and responsible citizens in their society.

가정과 소비자 교육의 개념학습 모형 적용 연구 (A Study on the Application of Concept Attainment Models for Consumer Education of Home Economics)

  • In this study, among the cognitive learning models for information process, Taba’s inductive thinking model and Joyce&Weil’s concept attainment model, which help to obtain and study the concepts, can be applied to the ranges of consumer-education. Considering this, a new teaching-paln can be made. Applying the plan to the present teaching environments. I will do the research possibilities of applying the concept-learning teaching-plan to the consumer education. In the method of this research, many books, related to home economics & consumer-education, characters of concept-learning, and concept teaching-learning models, were studied. Also, on the basis of theoretical evidence, the teaching-plan, that apply the concept teaching model, were made. In addition, experimental research was done to find out the possibilities that the plan focusing on concept learning was applied or not. As a result of this study, two points are briefly summarized : 1. The teaching plan using Taba’s and Joyce & Weil’s concept-attainment model was made. 2. Concept-learning in consumer-education didn’t have a great a great influence to the changes of consumer-roles and attitudes, but had a great influence to the effects of consumer concept-knowledge(p<0.01) The effects of consumer-knowledge had much relation to consumer-roles and attitudes. The learners whose grade is higher in attainments of consumer-knowledge, also have a high grade in consumer-roles and attitudes.

주거환경이 학업성적에 미치는 영향 - 중학생을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Effect of the Residential Environment on the Scholastic Attainment - A Case of Middle School Students -)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the residential environment on the scholastic attainment of middle school students and present the direction of better residential environment for mental faculties. A questionnaire was distributed to 537 middle school students and SAS Package was used. The results of this study were as follows.1. The scholastic attainment was significantly good when the number of family was four and it improved as the level of parents` occupation, parents` school career and household income got higher.2. As the distance to the facilities from the house got nearer, the level of arrangement in the house got higher, the degree of concern of parents on the education got higher and the scale of the house got lager, the scholatic attainment of middle school students become better significantly.3. The residential environment had an Independent effect on the scholastic attainment of middle school students.

  • 최근 컴퓨터와 인터넷이 급속히 보금됨에 따라 컴퓨터게임이 아이들의 놀이문화로 급속히 자리를 굳히고 있다. 게임과 아이들을 따로 떼어놓고 생각할 수 없다면 게임을 긍정적으로 활용하기 위하여 게임과 학습의 관계를 알아보고자 하는 노력이 필요하다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 각 종류의 게임이 학습자에게 요구하는 전략이 매우 다양하기 때문에 게이머는 게임을 하기 위한 여러 가지 전략을 모색하여 게임에 임하게 된다. 이 컴퓨터 게임에서의 전략이 학습자의 인지구조에 따른 어떤 학습전략을 얻을 수 있다면 그것이 학업성취도에는 어떤 영향을 미치는지 밝혀보고자 한다.

빈곤이 아동의 학구적 성취에 영향을 미치는 과정 분석 (Process Analysis of Poverty Influences on Academic Attainment of Children)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 빈곤이 아동의 학구적 성취에 미치는 과정을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해, 한국청소년패널(초4패널) 1차년도 자료 2838사례가 활용되었으며, 구체적 분석방법은 구조방정식모형이 사용되었다. 분석결과, 빈곤은 아동의 학구적 성취에 직접적으로 영향을 미치는 것이 아니라, 가족기능, 이웃환경, 사교육, 자기 신뢰감 등 여러 과정변수를 통해 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 본 연구의 발견은 빈곤아동에 대한 사회적 지원이 학구적 성취 수준을 향상시키는데 기여할 수 있음을 보여주는 것이다. 특히, 이러한 사회적 지원이 빈곤의 영향을 매개하는 요인들에 집중될 필요가 있음을 보여준다.
