Effective hardware design for DCT-based Intra prediction encoder (DCT 기반 인트라 예측 인코더를 위한 효율적인 하드웨어 설계)

  • In this paper, we proposed an effective hardware structure using DCT-based inra-prediction mode selection to reduce computational complexity caused by intra mode decision. In this hardware structure, the input block is transformed at first and then analyzed to determine its texture directional tendency. the complexity has solved by performing intra prediction in only predicted edge direction. $4{\times}4$ DCT is calculated in one cycle using Multitransform_PE and Inta_pred_PE calculates one prediction mode in two cycles. Experimental results show that the proposed Intra prediction encoding needs only 517 cycles for one macroblock encoding. This architecture improves the performance by about 17% than previous designs. For hardware implementation, the proposed intra prediction encoder is implemented using Verilog HDL and synthesized with Megnachip $0.18{\mu}m$ standard cell library. The synthesis results show that the proposed architecture can run at 125MHz.

PageRank Algorithm Using Link Context (링크내역을 이용한 페이지점수법 알고리즘)

  • The World Wide Web has become an entrenched global medium for storing and searching information. Most people begin at a Web search engine to find information, but the user's pertinent search results are often greatly diluted by irrelevant data or sometimes appear on target but still mislead the user in an unwanted direction. One of the intentional, sometimes vicious manipulations of Web databases is Web spamming as Google bombing that is based on the PageRank algorithm, one of the most famous Web structuring techniques. In this paper, we regard the Web as a directed labeled graph that Web pages represent nodes and the corresponding hyperlinks edges. In the present work, we define the label of an edge as having a link context and a similarity measure between link context and the target page. With this similarity, we can modify the transition matrix of the PageRank algorithm. A motivating example is investigated in terms of the Singular Value Decomposition with which our algorithm can outperform to filter the Web spamming pages effectively.

Surface pressure measurement on a wing of SWIM by using PSP (PSP를 이용한 항공기 형상 모형 날개 표면 압력 측정)

  • this study, three dimensional surface pressure distributions of SWIM whose main wing has NACA4412 airfoil with NACA0012 flaps were experimentally measured by pressure sensitive paint. Surface pressures on suction and pressure sides of the wing were measured by changing an angle of attack at a Reynolds number of 3.1x105 in KARI 1m subsonic wind tunnel. The experimental results showed that as an angle of attack increases minimum pressure region on a suction side moved from the wing root to the tip and low pressure region around trailing edge of the wing tip which causes wing tip vortex was observed. Although low pressure region at the tip still observed at an angle of attack 15 deg., other area on a suction side showed flat pressure distribution in a span-wise direction. It was also observed that the mean value of pressure coefficients was about 0.077 through a comparison between PSP and pressure taps at the same test conditions.

Numerical Study about the Effect of Continuous Blowing On Aerodynamic Characteristics of NACA 0015 Airfoil (연속적 블로잉에 따른 NACA 0015 익형 공력특성 변화에 대한 수치적 연구)

  • The effects of continuous blowing on flow control and stall suppression for flows over a NACA 0015 airfoil at low Reynolds numbers were numerically investigated through its parameter variation on unstructured meshes. The aerodynamic force and moment variations due to flow control were examined, along with the stall angle-of-attack change for stall suppression. The results showed that blowing with relatively strong jet increases lift at the cost of drag increment below stall angle. Continuous blowing delays flow stall when it is implemented near the leading edge. When the blowing jet was aligned along the flow direction on the airfoil, the favorable flow control effect was most significant below the stall angle of attack.

Sub-Sampled Pixels based Fast Mode Selection Algorithm for Intra Prediction in H.264/AVC (H.264/AVC 화면 내 예측을 위한 서브 샘플링 된 화소 기반 고속 모드 선택 기법)

  • Intra prediction is one of the significant techniques in H.264/AVC reference software; however, it has heavy computational complexity. In order to solve this problem, many fast algorithms have been proposed. In this paper, we propose a fast intra mode decision algorithm which predicts the edge direction of the current block using sub-sampled pixels to reduce high computational complexity of the H.264/AVC encoder. The proposed algorithm shows that it not only improves the coding performance but also reduces the computational complexity of the H.264/AVC encoder compared to previous algorithms. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves the encoding time reduction of 75.93% on an average with slight peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) drop and bit-rate increment.

  • Some appearances of the result images from the researches on NPR(Non Photorealistic Rendering) look like contrary to the attributes of the real painting. As they are based on only the technical approach rather than the aesthetic and accurate analysis of the real painting which they modeled. Therefore the purpose of this paper is the abstraction of the exact features from the related real painting, the redefine of them applicable to the process, and the embodiment of the painterly NPR algorithms. This paper modeled the Impressionism which were originated in the France at the late nineteenth century. Accordingly, at first, I analyzed the general features of oil paintings and Impressionism paintings, and according to this analyses, I adjusted them to engineering elements(the direction, length, width, texture and speed of stroke, the edge and region of object, depth information and color etc) and programmed. I emphasize the importance and potentiality of the collaboration of artist and technician in the NPR research through the results in this paper.

The Global Distribution Direction of Defense Industry in Eastern Europe under the New Cooperation Strengthened (신 협력 강화에 따른 동유럽 방위산업의 국제유통방향)

  • Purpose - After the transition, the development of defense industry in Eastern Europe has been regressed. Recently, they have internationally recognized that new products have been exported and contributed to the Innovation-Based Manufacturing of national economy such as unmanned reconnaissance aircraft, water purification technology, and mobile chemical laboratory, etc. The military forces in Eastern Europe are re-armed by the localization of self-produced munitions in their own defense industry, and then emphasize fostering their own defense industry. Thus, if they make a collaboration with other nations as a industrial cluster, it will gain a competitive edge on the defense industry. Research design, data, and methodology - The study was designed with the data of each national defense department. The research of the subject was reviewed before and after the transition. Thousands of workers have worked in defense industries before the transition, however, the defense industry and experts left after the transition. The Hungarian defense spending on GDP also dropped sharply from 1.72% in 2000 to 0.85% in 2013. But, due to the crisis in Ukraine and the crisis of Syrian refugees, the Viségrad Group (V4) member countries have also increased their interest in a defense and industries as well as the confidence in the EU and NATO. Results - On the whole, the joint of military training and purchase of defense materials were found in order to form the EU cooperative combat troops in CEE. There are the implementation of a joint manual plan for strengthening V4 security policy and the joint military exercises for V4 every year, and the others are electronic warfare and innovation of V4 national forces. Through such a performance analysis methodology, we found that the defense industry is developed through the national cluster cooperation among CEEs and spreading global distribution. Conclusions - Eastern Europe and Balkan countries have been looking forward to cooperating with the non-EU countries such as Korea and other defense industries. There are a lot of potential development into a new civilian cooperation defense industry for global-distribution. Thus, Korea should develop electronic commercial applications, not just as a weapon exporting region.

2D Industrial Image Registration Method for the Detection of Defects (결함 검출을 위한 2차원 산업 영상 정합 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose 2D industrial image registration method for the detection of defects. Proposed method performs preprocessing to smooth the original image with the preservation of the edge for the robust registration against general noise. Then, x-direction gradient magnitude image and corresponding binary image are generated. Density analysis around neighborhood regions per pixel are performed to generate feature image for preventing mis-registration due to moire-like patterns, which frequently happen in industrial images. Finally, 2D image registration based on phase correlation between feature images is performed to calculate translational parameters to align two images rapidly and optimally. Experimental results showed that the registration accuracy of proposed method for the real industrial images was 100% and our method was about twenty times faster than the previous method. Our fast and accurate method could be used for the real industrial applications.

Real-time Hand Pose Recognition Using HLF (HLF(Haar-like Feature)를 이용한 실시간 손 포즈 인식)

  • 인간과 컴퓨터간의 전통적인 인터페이스는 인간이 요구하는 다양한 인터페이스를 제공하지 못한다는 점에서 점차 사용하기 불편하게 되었고 이는 새로운 형태의 인터페이스에 대한 요구로 이어지게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 추세에 맞추어 카메라를 통해 인간의 손 제스처를 인식하는 새로운 인터페이스를 연구하였다. 손은 자유도가 높고 3차원의 view direction에 의해 형상이 매우 심하게 변한다. 따라서 윤곽선 기반방법과 같은 2차원으로 투영된 영상에서 contour나 edge의 정보로 손 제스처를 인식하는 데는 한계가 있다. 그러나 모델기반 방법은 3차원 정보를 이용하기 때문에 손 제스처를 인식하는데 좋으나 계산량이 많아 실시간으로 처리하기가 쉽지 않다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 손 형상에 대한 대규모 데이터베이스를 구성하고 정규화된 공간에서 Feature 간의 연관성을 파악하여 훈련 데이터 모델을 구성하여 비교함으로써 실시간으로 손 포즈를 구별할 수 있다. 이러한 통계적 학습 기반의 알고리즘은 다양한 데이터와 좋은 feature의 검출이 최적의 성능을 구현하는 것과 연관된다. 따라서 배경으로부터 노이즈를 최대한 줄이기 위해 피부의 색상 정보를 이용하여 손 후보 영역을 검출하고 검출된 후보 영역으로부터 HLF(Haar-like Feature)를 이용하여 손 영역을 검출한다. 검출된 손 영역으로부터 패턴 분류 과정을 거쳐 손 포즈를 인식 하게 된다. 패턴 분류 과정은 HLF를 이용하여 손 포즈를 인식하게 되는데 미리 학습된 각 포즈에 대한 HLF를 이용하여 손 포즈를 인식하게 된다. HLF는 Violar가 얼굴 검출에 적용한 것으로 얼굴 검출에 좋은 결과를 보여 주었으며, 이는 적분 이미지로부터 추출한 HLF를 이용한 Adaboost 학습 알고리즘을 사용하였다. 본 논문에서는 피부색의 색상 정보를 이용 배경과 손 영상을 최대한 분리하여 배경의 대부분이 Adaboost-Haar Classifier의 첫 번째 스테이지에서 제거되는 방법을 이용하여 그 성능을 더 향상 시켜 손 형상 인식에 적용하였다.

RAMAN SPECTROSCOPY IN SYMBIOTIC STARS (공생별에서 라만 산란선의 형성)

  • Symbiotic stars are known as binary systems of a giant with heavy mass loss and a white dwarf accompanied by an emission nebula. They often show bipolar nebulae, and are believed to form an accretion disk around the white dwarf component by attracting the slow but heavy stellar wind around the giant companion. However, the existence and physical properties of the accretion disk in these systems still remain controversial. Unique to the spectra of symbiotic stars is the existence of the symbiotic bands around $6830{\AA}$ and $7088{\AA}$, which have been identified by Schmid (1989) as the Raman scattered features of the O VI $1032{\AA}$ and $1038{\AA}$ doublet by atomic hydrogen. Due to the incoherency of the Raman scattering, these features have very broad profiles and they are also strongly polarized. In the accretion disk emission model, it is expected that the Raman features are polarized perpendicular to the binary axis and show multiple peak structures in the profile, because the neutral scatterers located near the giant component views the accretion disk in the edge-on direction. Assuming the presence of scattering regions outflowing in the polar directions, we may explain the additional red wing or red peak structure, which is polarized parallel to the binary axis. We argue that in the accretion disk emission model it is predicted that the profile of the Raman feature around $6830{\AA}$ is different from the profile of the $7088{\AA}$ because the O VI line optical depth varies locally around the white dwarf component. We conclude that the Raman scattered features are an important tool to investigate the physical conditions and geometrical configuration of the accretion disk in a symbiotic star.
