A Clinical Study on the Case of Nummular Eczema Treated with Bamboo Salt Pharmacopuncture and Herbal Medicine (화폐상 습진에 한약복용과 함께 죽염약침을 적용한 치험례)

  • Objectives : The purposes of this study are to investigate the efficacy of bamboo salt pharmacopuncture on nummular eczema. Methods : The patient was treated by bamboo salt pharmacopuncture and herbal medication. The improvement of the symtoms was evaluated by The SCORAD Index. Results : After treatment, erythema and pruritus were significantly improved. The SCORAD Index changed from 60.2 to 10.1. Conclusions : It is suggested that bamboo salt pharmacopuncture is effective on nummular eczema.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effectiveness of Korean Medicine treatment on nipple eczema. Methods: Two patients were treated with herbal medicine, acupuncture, wet dressing with herbal medicine and pharmaco-acupuncture. Photographs of lesions were taken to evaluate the changes in symptoms. Results: Two patients' pruritus, discharge, crusting, excoriation, erythema, and condition of lesions were improved after treatment. Conclusions: This study shows that Korean Medicine was effective to treat nipple eczema.

  • Objective: This study aimed to report the improvements of with nummular eczema treated using Osuyu-tang based on Shanghanlun provisions. Methods: According to the disease pattern identification diagnostic system based on the the patient was diagnosed with lesser-yin disease. The patient was treated with Osuyu-tang for 60 days. The severity of the patients' pruritus decreased, and changes in symptoms were assessed using visual analogue scale score and vIGA-ADTM Results: The patients' symptoms improved, pruritus decreased, and abrasion healed. Conclusions: The results suggest that the words on the 309th provision of Shanghanlun are a direct cause of nummular eczema.

  • Objective: This study aimed to report the improvement of a patient with nummular eczema treated with Hoeyeok-tang based on Shanghanlun provisions. Methods: According to the disease pattern identification diagnostic system (DPIDS) based on the Shanghanlun provisions, the patient was diagnosed with lesser yin disease according to the 324th provision. The patient was treated with Hoeyeok-tang for 90 days. The severity of pruritus decreased, and changes in symptoms were estimated by a visual analog scale, Scoring Atopic Dermatitis Index and the Validated Investigator Global Assessment for Atopic Dermatitis. Results: The patient's symptoms were improved. The severity of pruritus decreased and they recovered from abrasions. Conclusions: This study suggests that the 324th provision of Shanghanlun refer directly to nummular eczema.

A Case of Acute Multiple Nummular Eczema with Exudation (급성 다발성 삼출성 화폐상 습진 한방 치험 1례)

  • Objective : The purpose of this report is to know the effect of oriental medical treatments on acute multiple nummular eczema with exudation. Methods : We treated a 41-years-old woman patient with nummular eczema on right shin and left upper arm with Korean medicine. After Korean medical treatment for 31 days, we measured the decrease of exudation and recovery of skin damages. We recorded pictures of changes on symptoms. Results & Conclusion : The symptoms of nummular eczema were significantly improved except scars. Exudation was disappeared and skin damages were almost recovered. Pruritus was decreased by 70%. Thus Korean medical treatments are effective on acute multiple nummular eczema with exudation.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Chijageongang-tang on nummular eczema. Methods : We treated a 21-year-old female patient who have nummular eczema by Korean medicine. This treatment was enforced from 19.8.26 to 19.12.30. And we have confirmed the improvement of itching, rashes and oozing. We recorded photos that includes change of symptoms. Results : After the treatments was done, the grade of VAS was decreased. The VAS grade was decreased from grade 6 to grade 0. And we checked DLQI, all questions of index were improved. Conclusion : After administer Chijageongang-tang, the lesions are clearly improved The itchness was decrease. The scabs disappeared and changed into pigment lesions. Thus, It is able that Chijageongang-tang works on skin desease like nummular eczema.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the effect of Gagamtongchung-san and Korean medicine on the treatment of nummular eczema. Methods : A 52-year-old male had suffered from nummular eczema in forearm, dorsum manus and fossa cubitalis. We treated him with herbal medicine, acupuncture and herbal external medicine. In order to evaluate the results of these treatments, we observed pruritus and heat sensation of the patients and took photographs of the lesions. Results : After treatment, the nummular eczema lesions of patient was remarkably disappeared, NRS of pruritus and heat sensation decreased from 10 to under 2 and DLQI score changed from 28 to 9. Conclusions : According to the result, Gagamtongchung-san and Korean medicine can be effective for the treatment of nummular eczema and the improvement of quality-of-life.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to analyze the trend of Korean medical treatments on nummular eczema. Methods : Based on OASIS, NDSL, RISS, KTKP, KISS, KCI with the keyword 'Nummular Eczema'. published in 2000-2019.08.31, total 11 studies have been found and analyzed. Results : Among 11 studies, 21 cases were selected. Herb medicine, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, externals, other treatments were used as treatment for nummular eczema. All of research which selected have reported that the Korean medical treatment was effective. Conclusions : According to the results, Korean medical treatments can be effective treatment for nummular eczema. Further clinical studies are expected using evaluation methods to analyze the results and to establish high level of evidence.

A Case of Acute Allergic Contact Dermatitis with Multiple Nummular Eczema (화폐상 습진에 병발한 급성 알레르기성 피부염 한방 치험 1례)

  • Objective : The purpose of this report is to know the effect of oriental medical treatments on acute allergic contact dermatitis with multiple nummular eczema. Methods : We treated a 34-years-old woman patient with acute allergic contact dermatitis on face and multiple nummular eczema on both arm, right ankle and left inguinal region by Korean medicine. After Korean medical treatment for 42 days in hospital, we measured the decrease of exudation and pruritis as well as recovery of skin damages. We recorded pictures of changes on symptoms. Results & Conclusion : The symptoms of ACD and nummular eczema were significantly improved except scars. Exudation and pruritis were disappeared and skin damages were almost recovered until discharge from hospital. After 20 days we could confirm the symptoms were clearly disappeared. Thus Korean medical treatments are effective on ACD and nummular eczema.

Three Cases of Nummular Eczema Patients Treated with Cheongshimyeonja-eum Gagambang and Soyeom Pharmacopuncture (청심연자음가감방(淸心蓮子飮加減方)과 소염 약침으로 호전된 화폐상 습진 한방 치험 3례)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effectiveness of Cheongshimyeonja-eum gagambang and Soyeom pharmacopuncture for nummular eczema patients. Methods : This study was conducted with three patients treated with nummular eczema at Cheonan Oriental Medical hospital of Daejeon university. All three patients were treated with Cheongshimyeonja-eum gagambang and Soyeom pharmacopuncture. For the evaluation of the results, we used Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) as an assessment methods and took photographs of the lesions for comparison. Results : After the medication, eczema lesions of the three patients were remarkably improved. The lesions were examined by the photographs and the VAS of pruritus and relating symptoms, Conclusions : This study suggests that Cheongshimyeonja-eum gagambang and Soyeom pharmacopuncture could show effectiveness on nummular eczema.
