  • Knitwears it was only for the innerwear, but which has become more available for sportswear and highly valuable formal-dresses for women's apparel and is set a trend toward high value-added products worldwide. Also the industry connected knitwears is more widely applicative than woven industry and is running on the well founded basement for the small enterprises. This study notes that what problems are caused and which utilities can be expected when we design knitwears by Primavision and Texpia CAD system considered the programs for development of domestic knitwears industry. There are much various benefits for designing knitwears from CAD system as shortening working hours, convenience, accuracy, quality control and productivity. It doesn't depend on designer's technique, sense and experiences, but provides, through building the design accuracy, chance to have a precise communication with buyers to be satisfied with the multiplicity, uniqueness and high-quality resulting from reducing the mistake on the operation. But there are some problems for using CAD design system those are no selections for the form, type and thickness of the yarn. Even though it is knitted by the same gauge, the texture conditions show complete difference if the form and thickness is different with. The gauge control without regarding those ought to be improved and the yarn designing function should be appended like in a tektite design. And the CAD design system can not reflect the variables of operating knitting machine and needle. The CAD design system provides the manufacturers with merits those they can change the colors easily to select which one appeals to the customer and check the effects of producing and modeling on monitor. But, in the each producing progress, there are still problems to reduce the practical steps, so intensive care is required of each part.

  • This study develops an optimal two-dimensional (2D) pattern from three-dimensional human scan data by considering the cycling posture and dermatome of high school male cyclists. By analyzing the body surface change in the cycling posture and considering the dermatome of the lower limbs, the optimal cutting line setting and the development of cycling tights for individual cyclists were presented to provide data that could be used in the clothing industry. We designed three cycling tights to solve the size unsuitability. 3D design 1 is a non-extension design based on the analysis of the 3D human body scan data, in which parts were connected diagonally from the front of the knee to the back of the knee. 3D design 2 removed both the front and back to reduce air resistance during cycling. 3D design 3 did not have a cutting line on the front panel because of the air resistance during cycling in the front area. We analyzed the garment pressure for 8 points of lower body and performed a subjective evaluation of the 3D designed tights and the current cycling tights. The 3D design 1 in this study was well received in the omphalion, thigh, and hip area, while 3D design 3 was well received in the omphalion, thigh, hip, and bottom bands. Therefore, the LoNE of 3D design 1 was applied to the front, and the hip cutting line of 3D design 3 was applied to the back.

  • This study conducted a wearing evaluation of fall impact protective clothing developed in the previous study that evaluated activity, appearance, and practicality for elderly women. A total of 6 kinds of pants, which consisted of the three kinds of pads and two kinds of designs, were evaluated and the results are as follows. First, the activity of the protective clothing was tested with six women in their 60's and scored highly in most criterions that indicated satisfactory activity. The honeycomb type pad was superior in four of ten criterions for the activity evaluation results by pad types. Design B without a knee pad was evaluated as more comfortable on two motions that put pressure on the knee area. Second, the expert group considered design A to be better than design B, while the subject group preferred design B over design A in design appearance evaluation. Both the subject group and expert group evaluated that design A is better than design B in consideration of pads. Third, in the assessment of practicability, both the expert group and the subject group provided the highest score on the question of if elderly women needed protective clothing. The evaluation of washing ability indicated no noticeable change in the clothing form and size before and after washing.

  • This study was initiated to understand design and detail characteristics of coats that targeted new senior women by analyzing shape, color, fabric and detail. For the new senior, youthful appearance has more appeal than products that represent elder's style. Among, the coat can be effectively utilized as a trendy fashion item that targets seniors since it is more useful to hide figures than pants, blouses or jackets. The objectives of this research were to: First, examine design characteristics of new senior women's coat. Second, understand design characteristics of new senior women's coat. Third, analyze the relationship between the design of collars and details according to type of new senior women's coat. Photographs collected were categorized according to type of coat. Three types of coat (balmacaan, redingote and trench) were chosen to analyze with the highest frequency. The results of analyzing shape, length, color and fabric of the products made in domestic and foreign brands were similar; however, the collar and way of fastening showed significant results that required specific analysis since the design elements were related to maincoat characteristics in protecting against the cold. The depth of the V-zone can change without change of collar width and design changes in V-zone that influence the coat image that lead to changes in sleeve type and length (or fastening and closing position) method.

  • Today the number of economically independent women are increasing in Korea, they have a tendency to pay more attention to their appearance in their social life. Female university students show a high tendency of that kind, especially when they prepare for their job interviews. They purchase beauty products, visit beauty salons and skin care centers to improve their looks. Above all, their interest in nail art is amazingly increasing for maintaining their self-image. This study thus aims at surveying the relationship between college woman's life style and their interest in nail care, by analysing life styles of college women pursuing up-to-date style. The results show that an 'egoistic' type has a high interest in and a high frequency of using a nail care center, and 'egoistic' type's demand for the nail service is equal to or quite higher than 'appearance-oriented' type's. That means that the 'egoistic' type seems to pay much attention to how they look, because they think their neat appearance help to accomplish their ego.

  • Currently, obtaining information about the housing studies through the internet web sites is one of the outstanding mediums. Those are of the housings, architecture, interior design, furniture products, hotels and its journals, etc., and out of all those informations are the highly expected value of use. But. it may causes the public users to experience a negative effect, because many of those informations provided on the internet web sites related to the housing studies/informations are not providing an equal quality of information. And measuring the quality is also not easy. This study focuses on the establishment of evaluation criterion for the housing information-related internet web sites. In such a vein, it proposes a clear model to evaluate the information qualities with the 43 questionnaires / examining items. To test the questionnaires/rating items, the analysis has been implemented which has shown the reciprocal effect between the 2 major factors. One major factor with 4 variables on the information searches are (1) the accuracy/reliability of contents and techniques, (2) the design of a picture and communication, (3) the readability and security, and (4) the security of private information, and the other factor with 3variables on the additional services are (1) the diversities of contents and ease of orderings, (2) the abilities of search and e-mail, and (3) the events and after services. This study/rating model will provide the users with a fundamental material in evaluating the quality of housing information on the internet web sites.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the image according to formative properties of hat and garment in the fashion collection. For the study, the 96 stimuli found frequently in fashion collection from the S/S season of 1998 to the F/W season of 2004 were selected. Sets of stimulus and response scales (7 point semantic) were used as experimental materials. The stimuli were 96 pictures with the types of hat(4), the lengths of hair(3), the types of garment(3), the relations between the color of garment and hat(4), and the materials(4) and patterns of garment(2). The subjects were 415 women college students majoring fashion design related fields and living in Seoul and Gyeongsangnam-do. As statistical methods for data analysis, Factor Analysis, ANOVA test, and LSD test were used. The items of the adjectives were classified into 5 image dimensions; attractiveness, gracefulness, concentration, cuteness, and hardness and softness. Among these factors, each dimensional image was affected by formative properties of hat and garment. The image of a hat-wearer was perceived differently according to the hair style and the formative properties of hat and garment even if the type of hat was same.
