Human being has extensively invaded, occupied, and used the natural environment as a consequence of the advance of civilization. Mankind has increasingly modified the environment for his own benefit. Such modification has not only caused the extinction of many other species but also, caused human being himself to confront to serious environmental problems. The recognition of this fact by human is expressed in the establishment and development of restoration ecology. This new study fold is, in fact, an "Eco-technology" directed towards healing of damages to the environment. The goal is to reestablish processes and functions in a damaged site, imitating the way of healing works that an integral natural system carries out. Ecological restoration uses different treatments and approaches according to extents of the existing damage and to the specific goal to be achieved. An ecological diagnosis is, therefore, required prior to restoration practice. The cost and efforts to achieve a proposed goal can be significantly reduced when a restoration plan is formulated upon the results of well-conducted ecological diagnosis. Under such perspectives, restoration ecology is a practical science, which aims to solve the problems of the real world based on the existing ecological principle. Furthermore, restoration ecology offers opportunities to test the ecological concepts and theories obtained by means of the former ecological studies. Human being exploited natural environment excessively for his comfort on one hand but damaged it inevitably on the other hand. Such intensive resource utilization and continuous environmental damaging will extend into the future and ultimately jeopardize the survival of humankind if no prompt action is taken. In the present situation, we must not continue such lives without any preparation. We have to cope with the environmental crises approaching near us by pursuing the ecological restoration that reduce the unnecessary use, recruit the deficient part, and strengthen the weak portion in our environment. Restoration ecology could be recognized as the ecology for the future in such viewpoints.
This research is to analyze ethics in fashion design for more valuable and sustainable human life against the increasing alienation of the human being, the global ecological crisis resulted from contemporary consumption society. I expect that it can be helpful to plan ethical fashion design practice more effectively. For this, the documentary study and practical case study have been executed. The results are as follows. The ethics in design can be defined as the responsibility to reform the social, environmental problem of consumptive design, to sustain together without human alienation, environment disruption and to do social good for total human being ultimately. The ethical design practice means to suggest solutions to problems of human rights and environment and to act willingly. Based on this, ethical fashion design appeared as responsible design solution which has two directions. One is the fashion design for coexistence and sharing, including the design for all which considers even underprivileged minority, the design to promote public issues as well as to donate some profits. The other is the eco fashion design for sustainable environment, including eco-friendly design which is reductive and slow in whole design process, the design to inform the seriousness of environmental crisis as well as to donate some profits. The last one of the most important ethical responsibility as fashion designer is to abide by vocational ethics, that is, the prohibition of design piracy.
This study investigates the impacts of nuclear energy consumption on environmental quality from a different perspective by focusing on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, ecological footprint, and load capacity factor. In this context, the South Korea case, which is a leading country producing and consuming nuclear energy, is investigated by considering also economic growth, and the 1997 Asian crisis from 1977 to 2018. To this end, the study employs the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) approach. Different from previous literature, this study proposes a load capacity curve (LCC) and tests the LCC and environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypotheses simultaneously. The analysis results reveal that (i) the LCC and EKC hypotheses are valid in South Korea; (ii) nuclear energy has an improving effect on the environmental quality; (iii) renewable energy does not have a significant long-term impact on the environment; (iv) the 1997 Asian crisis had an increasing effect on the load capacity factor; (v) South Korea has not yet reached the turning point, identified as $55,411, where per capita income improves environmental quality. Overall, the results show the validity of the LCC and EKC hypotheses and prove the positive contribution of nuclear energy to South Korea's green development strategies.
Purpose: This study aims to explore the distribution of work-life integration against COVID-19 and its Implications by analyzing remote work in Switzerland. Research design, data and methodology: The study performed literature review and descriptive analyses using various data such as perception surveys, statistics, and related documents. Results: The infectious disease was a turning point for many people in Switzerland by changing where and how people want to live. Since the COVID-19 crisis demonstrated that disease could be spread by proximity, negative perception about urban areas expanded, and rural areas are increasingly preferred due to fresh and clean air and a more ecological lifestyle. In addition, increased remote work, a change brought about by COVID-19, has subsequently led to changes in household habits and needs. Distance from work is no longer an important factor when someone chooses where to live. A trend is now emerging where households wanting to improve the quality of life leave the city center and move to the suburbs. Conclusions: Paradoxically, such trend accelerated by the COVID-19 crisis has an unintendedly positive impact on the distribution of work-life integration across society while providing more flexibility in terms of place and time management and lowering the burden on roads and infrastructure.
This study started from the need to change the technocentric view of environment into the ecocentric one to overcome ecological crisis today. Thus, the purposes of this study are to reorganize characteristics of ecocentrism, to analyze ecocentrism of Native North Americans as a realistic model, and to finally find suggestions to environmental education. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; Frist, the ecocentric perception on relationship between human beings and nature pursues co-existence through harmony and balance based on holistic understandings. And the ecocentric perception on relationship among human beings attempts to preserve environment by overcoming rule structure among them. The ecocentric perception on relationship between human beings and spirituality is to set life goals to achieve spirituality rather than to pursue material life. Second, Native North Americans have a holistic world view that human beings and nature are an inseparable one through the symbol of 'the Sacred Circle'. They also lived simple lives which satisfies vital needs instead of pursuing material lives in terms of the perception on relationship among human beings. When it comes to the perception on relationship between human beings and spirituality, they feel sacredness from all things in daily life and want to have peaceful relationships with their own inside through spirituality toward 'Mother Earth'. Third, the ecocentrism of Native North Americans make suggestions that environmental education confirm again what roles of human beings are in ecosystem, and that it helps students develop ecological sensitivity by giving them many opportunities to go to field trips. Furthermore, environmental education helps them positively think about and actively choose simple life. In addition, it has to be designed to help students seek sacredness in daily life through ecological imagination. This study has values of newly organizing characteristics of each ecocentric idea by integrating it from complementary aspects, and pursuing direction of ecocentrism and its realistic possibility by analyzing the ecocentrism of Native North Americans as a model of ecological life.
Christian education for the world after COVID-19 needs to use rapid changes in the surrounding situation as an opportunity to overcome a new crisis so that the church can achieve its educational mission. If the biggest dilemma in the post-Corona era is that there is no authoritative educational prescription anywhere, the most reasonable option for church education in this situation is to emphasize and cultivate learners' ability to flexibly cope with rules that are completely different than before COVID-19. As a natural result of the crisis, Christian education needs to be more interested in the trend of social change in the pandemic era(glocalization, digital transformation, economic inequality, educational environment change, church crisis) and actively reflect its contents in education. In addition, while operating a mobile(or online) church school that combines offline and online, there is an urgent need for an innovative transition to a core church school where certain church schools and churches cooperate with each other, a church school that guarantees a safe learning space, and an ecological church school that is interested in education dealing with climate change and ecology.

The purpose of this study is to inquire into the changes to the emotional intelligence of young children by giving them pleasure and memory through the program of ecological experience. A survey was made on 40 young children in two classes out of 5-year-old children's classes in nurseries located at Chungcheong-do. They were divided into the experiment group and control group to consist of 20 persons, respectively. For young children of the experiment group, the experiment was conducted while observing and experiencing through the division of the group into 5 persons on fixed days according to the program of ecological experience. Analysis showed that the program of ecological experience in the experiment group relatively higher effect of increase for the emotional intelligence of young children, and the use of self emotion, the cognition and consideration of other's emotion, the cognition and expression of self emotion, the regulation and impulse control of emotion, the relationship with teacher and the relationship with peer by sub-factors than that in the control group. In other words, close relationships with nature and inquiry instruction of ecological experience have provided the attitude-based formation living together with the understanding of natural world and eco-friendly attitude, the cognition of ecological crisis and social cooperation that couldn't feel in indoor education. Consequently, the program of ecological experience should prove useful for the emotional intelligence of young children.
Human beings at the beginning of the world have tried to gain mental and physical satisfaction from nature. However, as it became difficult to find such satisfaction in nature, an advanced civilization was created that confronted nature by developing a unique environment. In this process of confrontation, an ecological crisis occurred. As an alternative to solve this problem, there began interest in the ecological paradigm of many fields, and the domain of space design for living became the center of attention. Korean traditional architecture has ecological characteristics suitable for Koreas nature and climate. When discussing Korean traditional architecture from the viewpoint of an ecological paradigm, studies have been based on the understanding that it is the entire combination of structures existing with and as a part of a natural ecosystem rather than the use of independent and individual structures like that of Western architecture. In particular, Korean traditional windows and doors are examples of maintaining an ecological essence by accepting natural surroundings and have important meaning in the subject of ecological space design, but its unfortunate that theyre not utilized in contemporary Korean architecture. Focusing on these discrepancies, this study aims to make traditional windows and doors native to Korea the subject of discussion and to expand the area of study in Korean traditional architecture.
The concept of architectural sustainability is gradually being highlighted in several ills and consciousness of crisis of modern architecture. However, many of us tend to realize its sustainability focusing on ecological sustainability in many ways. Such perspective is considerably technical and extensive. Therefore, I paid attention to Herman Hertzberger's architecture to find out how to consider spatial aspects, when interior architecture designers engage in design process. This study aims to analyze architectural progress for social communication of Herman Hertzberger's project, breaking from the existing research to only limit him to one of structuralism architects. In particular, it was found that in relation to social sustainability, universal/social design, cultural design and green/ecological design have been progressed in their forms through communicational perspectives of social architecture which he's insisted since the structuralism era. Recently, majority of issues about sustainability are restricted to economical aspects. Accordingly, further study is needed to consider his architecture from social aspects. As his architecture is concentrating on coexistence from a social perspective for communication, not on modern spatial discourse, his architectural works need to be analyzed consistently as realistic measurements.
The main purpose of this study is to search a new perspective of environmental education through investigating of alternative education. Environmental education is introduced by needs of society for an effective way of solving environmental problems. But it also has a meaningfulness which is internal need of education for proposing and fostering ecological human corresponds with crisis of modernism. In spite of excessive rhetoric, vision of formal environmental education is very negative. Formal environmental education is restricted to optional course. So, its potential isn't fulfil. Education is both part of the problem and the solution. Education is proclaimed at high level as the key to a more sustainable society and yet it daily plays a part in reproducing an unsustainable society. If environmental education is to fulfil its potential as an agent of environmental problem solution, it becomes both part of the ideal and the practice of education. In this point, alternative education is a model of what environmental education ought to be. Environmental education and alternative education have a common ground in end of education and critical position to the modern education system.
