  • This study is to suggest the technique of ecological park to compatible mountain ecosystem near the urban in Woomyeonsan Urban Nature Park. It was proposed to differential technique from established ecological park focused on changing the cognition of nature, wetland ecosystem protection and restoration, and studying by served sound leisure program(nature observation and experience, etc.), in compatible mountain and urban forest near the Urban. Firstly, to achieve this aim, it was carried out delicated research and analysis that were the angle of inclination, trail, fauna, actual vegetation, bird and insect, and then to selected nature trail course and analysis capability through it.. In the basic concept and plan, firstly to make park aid mark and foundation mark, and then to establish the detail programs, nature observation program, management and organization program. This site where valley and mountain coexist was highly capable but whole site was very steep, so usable area is very narrow. To make Woomyeonsan nature ecological park escape from the established wetland type, ecological park and the park of event have to use nature material and introduce visitor. To establish it as the Nature Culture observation park and reflect on forest, valley of Woomyeonsan was divided into three display places; Nature ecosystem Zone, Meditation Zone, Nature Culture experience Zone and Nature Culture observation Center. • The eyes are the first sensory organs to perceive the environment. We become accustomed to the environment with our eyes. When we contact the environment, we perceive the appearance of an object with our eyes. Then we recognize our position, and perceive the shape surrounding the object interacting with space. The perception of seeing constructs experiences which control most of our recognition, and the experiences are images of the environment surrounding it. So they are significantly expressed into sensitive and mental elements of material and non-material world. Gibson's ecological perception theory analyzes and information system, which helps man to move effectively, and its component stimulus'. The important thing is that we should understand the combination of systems gathering stimulus not as an individual system but as one whole system.

  • This study started from the need to change the technocentric view of environment into the ecocentric one to overcome ecological crisis today. Thus, the purposes of this study are to reorganize characteristics of ecocentrism, to analyze ecocentrism of Native North Americans as a realistic model, and to finally find suggestions to environmental education. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; Frist, the ecocentric perception on relationship between human beings and nature pursues co-existence through harmony and balance based on holistic understandings. And the ecocentric perception on relationship among human beings attempts to preserve environment by overcoming rule structure among them. The ecocentric perception on relationship between human beings and spirituality is to set life goals to achieve spirituality rather than to pursue material life. Second, Native North Americans have a holistic world view that human beings and nature are an inseparable one through the symbol of 'the Sacred Circle'. They also lived simple lives which satisfies vital needs instead of pursuing material lives in terms of the perception on relationship among human beings. When it comes to the perception on relationship between human beings and spirituality, they feel sacredness from all things in daily life and want to have peaceful relationships with their own inside through spirituality toward 'Mother Earth'. Third, the ecocentrism of Native North Americans make suggestions that environmental education confirm again what roles of human beings are in ecosystem, and that it helps students develop ecological sensitivity by giving them many opportunities to go to field trips. Furthermore, environmental education helps them positively think about and actively choose simple life. In addition, it has to be designed to help students seek sacredness in daily life through ecological imagination. This study has values of newly organizing characteristics of each ecocentric idea by integrating it from complementary aspects, and pursuing direction of ecocentrism and its realistic possibility by analyzing the ecocentrism of Native North Americans as a model of ecological life.

  • Methods for detecting the presence of genetically modified (GM) crops are evolving to comply with legislation and to enhance monitoring by biotechnology companies and regulators. In order to cover a broad range of detection methods for a new GM crop, conventional multiplex PCR methods are required. Based on the genetic information on three GM alfalfa varieties (J101, J163, and KK179), which were recently approved in South Korea, we developed a fast, reliable, and highly specific multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method with basic PCR equipment and inexpensive reagents. To validate and verify the newly developed multiplex PCR method, we applied a limit of detection assay and random reference material analysis. We also monitored the unintentional environmental release of GM alfalfa in South Korea by performing the multiplex PCR analysis with 91 feral alfalfa specimens collected from 2000 to 2018. Our methodology is a sensitive, simple, quick, and inexpensive tool for detecting and identifying three GM alfalfa varieties.

  • Although evolution of construction materials brought about development of modern architecture, they caused destruction of the environment and pollution. This problem is not a new one in terms of ecological esthetics and materials of sustainable architecture in light of the Eastern view of nature and this idea became a background of this study. The basic concept is to try to find out their characteristics from a perspective of ecological esthetics in relation to traditional building materials that nature, architecture, and humans coexist and live with each other to balance. Based on ecological esthetics and precedent studies on materials of traditional architecture, we investigated connections, expressive methods and characteristics in traditional residential construction space. This attempt has meanings in that it can propose a new framework of forming various viewpoints and spatial perceptions in relation to esthetics and traditional construction materials. The current study examined the characteristics by dividing them into tangible and intangible elements based on expressive features of elements of nature. The characteristics found by this process are not simply notion of physical materials, but plays a key role aesthetically and ecologically. Nature and materials take circulation of the law of nature, regulate energy, increase efficiency and play a major role in an economic way. Nature in itself becomes natural alternative energy, and plays its role in an invisible fashion. It examined how expressive characteristics of construction materials are reflected through analyzing residential space and Korean traditional garden having relationships with Eastern viewpoint of nature in relation to Korean traditional construction materials from a perspective of ecological esthetics. Findings of the above study indicate that expressive characteristics of Korean traditional construction materials from a perspective of ecological esthetics are that nature, space, humans coexist and live together and they will provide a clue to an alternative to solve ecological and environmental problems modern society will have in the future. Through this process, it provided a possibility that traditional space and materials can be succeeded in creative and new ways, and it found out the way for nature, space, and humans to coexist and a possibility of ecological esthetics. It addition, it will provide a key base as an alternative of sustainable design of the future.
