This research produced internal model tester ($2.0m{\times}2.0m{\times}1.0m$) to evaluate the field application of Paju Unjeong District water recycling system for small streams eco-friendly river bed disparity method for the first time in Korea and conducted comparative analysis of the Paju Unjeong District water recycling system field test results and infiltration rate result of internal tests by each rainfall intensity following surface material. Infiltration rate result of internal tests concrete pavement by rainfall intensity following surface material, asphalt pavement, bentonite mate, stabilized soil construction and mixed soil construction manifested low infiltration rate. On the contrary, compaction soil, grassland and water permeable packaging materials resulted in significant amount of infiltration rate. As for the field permeability test results, they were manifested similar tendency as indoor permeability test results and they satisfied the standard for standard of water permeability of domestic disparity facility (less than $1.0{\times}10-7cm$/sec). As compaction rate increased, unconfined compression strength increased as well while coefficient of water permeability decreased.
This study aims to determine the effect of fly ash with a high replacing ratio of clay on the radiation shielding properties of bricks. Some interaction parameters (mass attenuation coefficients, half value layer, effective atomic number, effective electron density, and absorption efficiency) of clay fly ash bricks were measured with a NaI(Tl) detector at 661.6 keV, 1,173.2 keV, and 1,332.5 keV. For the investigation of their shielding behavior, fly ash bricks were molded using an admixture to clay. A narrow beam transmission geometry condition was used for the measurements. The measured values of these parameters were found in good agreement with the theoretical calculations. The elemental compositions of the clay fly ash bricks were analyzed by using an energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer. At selected energies the values of the effective atomic numbers and effective electron densities showed a very modest variation with the composition of the fly ash. This seems to be due to the similarity of their elemental compositions. The obtained results were also compared with concrete, in order to study the effect of fly ash content on the radiation shielding properties of clay fly ash bricks. The clay fly ash bricks showed good shielding properties for moderate energy gamma rays. Therefore, these bricks are feasible and eco-friendly compared with traditional clay bricks used for construction.

The compressive strength and electrical resistance of pitch-based carbon fiber (CF) in cementitious materials are explored to determine the feasibility of its use as a functional material in construction. The most widely used CFs are manufactured from polyacrylonitrile (PAN-based CF). Alternatively, short CFs are obtained in an economical way using pitch as a precursor in a melt-blown process (pitch-based CF), which is cheaper and more eco-friendly method because this pitch-based CF is basically recycled from petroleum residue. In the construction field, PAN-based CFs in the form of fabric are used for rehabilitation purposes to reinforce concrete slabs and piers because of their high mechanical properties. However, studies have revealed that construction materials with pitch-based CF are not popular. This study explores the compressive strength and electrical resistances of a cement paste prism using pitch-based CF.

Recently, the wooden structure has been revived again as an eco-friendly structure technique. It is the counterattack of the wood material, which has become more recognized as a finishing material pushed by the concrete material in the rapid growth after the Industrial Revolution. However, it is difficult to conclude that this is a tendency of the construction market in the whole country. Perhaps this is a tendency to appear more strongly in Korea. It could be seen by comparing the characteristics of the overseas construction market with Korean's and the advanced constructed case of large-scale wooden structures in overseas. National wooden buildings show own characteristics such as construction methods, materials, and member dimensions of wood structures by country, which could be seen as a result of continuously developing their own technology. However, in Korea, despite its unique wooden structure and technology (Hanok; Korean traditional housing), it has not been developed continuously and treated it only as a living building exhibit. This is evidenced by the fact that only one percent of the building is constructed with traditional wooden building technology. Therefore, there are various efforts to modernize the traditional wooden structure technology, but it still does not reach the level of advanced wooden technology abroad. The characteristics of the Korean wooden building market were analyzed in order to suggest ways to develop the Korean wood structure technology. The characteristics of Hanok construction were analyzed through quantitative criteria to define the main development tasks for Hanok development to propose the long-term development path.

Recently, interest in reducing cement has been growing. Hwangto, an eco-friendly material, has advantages such as air purification effect and humidity control, but when used, accidents such as form collapse may occur due to low strength and reduced durability. In order to quantitatively evaluate the timing of mold demolding, we would like to evaluate the timing of mold demolding through correlation with compressive strength using ultrasonic pulse velocity. As a result, the time at which 5 MPa is developed is after 20 hours for the test specimen of W/B 41 , in the case of W/B 33, NC33 and HTC33-15 were equally expressed at 12 hours, and HTC33-30 was expressed at 16 hours.
Purpose: The study focuses on the impact of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), trade openness, and energy consumption on carbon dioxide emissions in the Ivory Coast. It aims to quantitatively evaluate the effects of FDI, energy consumption, and trade openness on CO2 emissions in Ivory Coast. Research design, data, and methodology: The research uses an econometric framework and the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to analyze time-series data from 1980 to 2021 between these factors. Results: The analysis revealed that FDI significantly impacts the carbon dioxide emissions, FDI showed a negative impact on carbon emissions in the long-run equilibrium term. Also, energy consumption impacted CO2 emissions in the long-run equilibrium term. Conclusion: To mitigate the upsurge of CO2 emissions in the Ivorian context, concrete policy, including enactment and adherence to strict environmental regulations, adoption and prioritization of eco-friendly products and technologies, and investment in renewable energy infrastructure are recommended. The study contributes to the global discussion on sustainable development by offering a model for similar assessments in other emerging nations facing simultaneous economic growth and environmental conservation challenges.
Since 1970's, the rivers in industrial cities and metropolitan cities in Korea have been severely contaminated and the riverfronts have been to garbage yard, warehouses and sanitary facilities that produce low efficiency in urban land-use. As a result, riverfront in most cities became lost space and artificial area which composed of asphalt road, concrete riverbank and parking lot. However, Sustainable management is the main concept of riverfront development in 21st century. Also, in contemporary riverfront space, it is the pivotal paradigm that the development of eco-space and mixture of cultural space. Citizen require greener, more ecological and water-friendly space in riverfront of city. So, the purpose of this paper lies in suggestion for building sustainable development and management for riverfront in Korean city. For this purpose, this paper has reviewed the developmental trend of recent riverfront, has analyzed locational environment and land use of riverfront in city, has set policy and the strategy for sustainable riverfront.

Ubiquitous is an information communication environment which peoples could connect on network without being conscious of the network and computer condition at anytime and anywhere. Presently, advanced technology, digital cities and eco-friendly cities using Ubiquitous technology are being focused through out the world. As recent information industry and communication technology have developed remarkably, studies on intelligent structures and structural maintenance methods by combining a general idea of connecting all objects on network by interpolating computers which is called Ubiquitous Computing, and USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) are being attempted. In this paper, a basic experiment on penetration of RF(Radio Frequency) sensor nodes using an experimental sample setting concrete and reinforcing bar as variables is studied to estimate the possibility of applying wireless sensor networks in structures. The spring of reinforcing bars, concrete thickness, intensity of radio frequency were set up as variables, transmitting and receiving distance were checked vertically and horizontally. Moreover, Spectrum Analyzer was used for checking the magnitude of the frequency used in order to measure the reduction of radio wave exactly. The radio wave reduction was numerically analyzed, and the influence of the wavelength was analysed as well. As a result, the penetration depth in concrete without reinforcing bars was 45cm, and in reinforced concretes which reinforcing bars placed at spacing of 5cm and 15cm, the penetration depth were 37cm and 45cm each. No influence on radio wave penetration depth were found when the spacing of reinforcing bars in the reinforced concrete structures becomes over 15cm.

Corrosion and degradation of reinforced structures due to abnormal climates and natural disasters further accelerate the aging of structures. Coping with the decrease in structure performance, many old structures are being repaired and reinforced with low-weight and high-strength materials such as glass fiber composite material (GFRP). To further contribute, this paper focus on a more economical and eco-friendly material, basalt fiber composite (BFRP), which provide a more effective lateral constraint effect for seismic reinforcement. The main variables considered in this study are the curing temperature during the manufacturing of BFRP and the material characteristics of the target concrete member. The lateral constraint reinforcement effect was investigated through the evaluation of the performance of normal concrete and those with improved durability through fiber reinforcement. The reinforcement effect was 3.15 times for normal concrete and 3.72 times for fiber reinforced concrete, and the difference in reinforcement effect due to the improvement of the durability characteristics of the compression member was not significant. Lastly, the performance of the BFRP was compared with the results of the GFRP reinforcement from the previous study. The effect of the BFRP reinforcement was 1.18 times better than that of the GFRP reinforcement.

This study intends to develop an eco-friendly concrete panel mixed with biochars. Experiments about mechanical and thermal properties were conducted on porous biochar concrete, which has insulation and carbon-capture performance. The concrete has a mixing ratio of 0, 5, 10, and 15 % for biochar and a water-binder ratio of 0.35. The unit weight, porosity, and permeability were measured to evaluate the mechanical characteristics. From the results, as the biochar mixing rate increased, the porosity and the permeability increased, but the unit weight decreased. Even though a decreased trend was observed in the compressive strength results, they satisfied the design standard. Since the thermal conductivity was decreased during the increase of contents, biochar could be considered an excellent material for insulation performance. In addition, regression analyses were conducted regarding the relationship of unit weight with porosity, compressive strength with thermal conductivity, and porous with thermal conductivity. From the regression, significant variables for expanding the scope of the application of biochar were presented.
