  • World Business Council for Sustainable Development(WBCSD) is effort to achieve sustainable development in economic growth, environmental preservation and social development. Being this way, it is essential for developing evaluation tool which quantify to fulfill sustainable development. Eco-efficiency is one of the quantitative tools to evaluate environmental impact and economic aspect. Eco-efficiency, in general term, means creating more value of product or services with less impact to environment. It indicates as environmental impact in denominator and value of product or services in numerator. Eco-efficiency shows how much economic value reveals to unit environmental impact caused by product or service as an indicator. This study aims at developing eco-efficiency indicator of railway industry considering use stage among the entire life cycle stage of KTX and Saemaul train and also, figure out eco-efficiency value through indicator. Therethrough, it is enables to evaluate created value per environmental aspects. Since rail vehicles demands a lot of energy to transport people during use stage, the environmental impact is more significant than other lkfe cycle stages. Therefore, it quantified environmental indicator as CO2 emission and economic indicator as transportation record per a year with an annual income. This study contributes to be used as a tool for quantifying indicator of comparison evaluation in respect of rail vehicle in use stage.

Eco-efficiency Analysis of Organic Agriculture in Korea

  • Eco-efficiency which is calculated by dividing economic productivity by the environmental load was made by synthesizing eco and efficiency from ecology and economy, proposed by World Business Council for Sustainable Development in 2000. Eco-efficiency by connection of resource efficiency with resource intensity is used as an indicator for evaluating green growth for minimizing the impact on the environment and achieving economic development as well by means of efficient use of resources. This research analyzes eco-efficiency with the case of organic agriculture promoted as a key green growth policy. Thirty questionnaires for farmers producing organic rice in Hongseong-gun, Choongcheongnam-do were used for the analysis. Eco-efficiency was measured by means of the amount of used nitrogen with respect to the amount of income, and was represented that organic agriculture was 32.0 higher than conventional agriculture. The analytical result of technical efficiency, using the (Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model showed that it is 0.765 which has a possibility of 21% in management improvement, and higher eco-efficiency was with higher technical efficiency. The analytical results showed that an organic agriculture contributes to green growth more than conventional agriculture. In addition, higher technical efficiency groups exhibited higher eco-efficiency indices.

여수산업단지의 생태효율성지표 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of Eco-Efficiency Indicators for Yeosu Industrial Park)

  • 본 논문은 생태효율성 지표 작성을 통하여 여수산업단지(여수산단) 지표를 개발하였다. 여수산단 매출의 경우 원화의 가치와 원부원료의 수출입 원가 변동 폭이 큰 관계로 제품의 가치(기능)에서 제외하고 대신 총 생산액, 에틸렌 생산량, 경질유 생산량으로 제품의 기능 부문을 구성하고, 환경부하로서는 현재 공식적으로 입수 가능한 자료인 전력 소모량, 용수 사용량 및 폐수 배출량을 사용하였다. 2004년을 기준으로 할 때 2006년의 환경경제효율 지수를 계산한 결과 0.954로 지수가 나빠졌으나, 여수산단의 생태산업단지사업이 성공할 경우 2015년에는 지수가 1.153으로 약 15% 정도 개선될 것으로 예측되었다.

녹색성장 교통부문 지표개발 교통 전문가 설문조사결과 분석 (Development of Transportation Indicators for Green Growth Based on a Questionnaire Survey for Transportation Experts)

  • 본 연구의 목표는 전문가 조사를 통해 교통부문 녹색성장을 구성하는 부문들의 상대적 중요성을 밝히고 각 부문별 평가 지표를 개발하는 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 지속가능한 개발이나 생태효율성이라는 기존의 개발 개념과 녹색성장이 어떠한 공통점을 가지며, 녹색성장 고유의 속성은 무엇인지를 설명하였다. 그리고 기존의 연구들을 토대로 교통부문에서 그간 이용되어온 지표들을 선정하였다. 본 연구의 목표인 올바른 지표설계를 위해 평가지표의 구조를 전체목표, 개별목표, 상세 목표로 위계화하여 제시하였으며, 균형있는 지표 설정을 위해 부정적 지표와 긍정적 지표의 개념도 제시하였다. 각 개별목표와 상세목표의 전체목표에 대한 상대적 기여도의 결정을 위해 교통부문 전문가들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고 설문조사 결과를 토대로 AHP 분석을 통해 각 목표들의 가중치를 계산하였다. 분석결과 저탄소 친환경성이 가장 높은 가중치를 갖는 것으로 나타났으며, 경제활동성이 전체 목표달성에서 가장 낮은 비중을 차지하였다. 이를 통해 현재 교통전문가들이 녹색성장 중 성장 부문에 대한 인식이 부족하며, 녹색성장이라는 새로운 개념과 과거의 지속가능한 개발이나 생태효율성을 명확히 구분하지 못한다는 사실을 확인하였다.

열병합발전소의 온실가스 배출량 산정 및 환경성 평가 (Estimation of Greenhouse Gas and Environmental Assessment in Co-generation Plant)

  • Taking sample processes from the combined heat and power plant in Busan Fashion Color Industry Complex, the characteristics and amounts of greenhouse gas (GHGs) emissions were analysed and calculated, respectively. Based on the results, environmental assessment was evaluated for recent 3 years. The amounts of GHG emissions from 2011 to 2013 were estimated at 182,750, 184,384 and 190,250 $Ton.CO_2eq/year$, respectively. GHG emissions from stationary combustion sources were found to be more than 99 % of the total emissions. Also, the overall eco-efficiency indicator for environmental assessment was more than 1, suggesting that these results would be beneficial for GHG emissions allowance allocations.

염색폐수 처리공정의 온실가스 배출량 산정 및 환경성 평가 (Estimation of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Environmental Assessment of Dye Wastewater Treatment Process)

  • Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from dye wastewater treatment processes were estimated by analysing their mass and energy balances, which were then used as baseline information for environmental assessment. The total GHG emissions from dye wastewater treatment plants were divided into direct emissions from the treatment processes and indirect ones from electricity usage. The amounts of $CO_2$, $CH_4$ and $N_2O$ emissions were calculated according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Clime Change (IPCC) guideline for the GHG target management system. For 3 years between 2011 and 2013, direct and indirect emissions were on average 8,742.7 and 7,892.0 Ton.$CO_2eq/year$, respectively, with the former exhibiting 52.6 %. Also, compared to 2012, in 2013, the eco-efficiency indicator by the GHG emissions was found to be more than 1, suggesting that environmental quality was effectively improved.

탄소중립을 위한 친환경선박 인증제도의 개선방향에 관한 연구 (A Study on Improvement for Greenship Certification Scheme to Achieve Net-Zero )

  • Total shipping accounts for 2.9 % of the annual average percentage of global anthropogenic GHG emissions. The International Maritime Organization implements EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index), Energy Efficiency eXisting-ship Index (EEXI), and Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) as regulatory frameworks for shipping decarbonization. The Republic of Korea has enforced the Act on Development and Popularization of Greenship from 2020 and publicly announced the 1st national plan which was named 『2030 Greenship-K Promotion Strategy』 for the activation of a greenship market. The Greenship Certification Scheme is going on for the sustainability of Korean shipbuilding and shipping industries, to secure clean maritime environments, as well as to contribute to the national economy. Greenship Certification guarantees the credit of such eco-friendly technologies and products for shipping. The certification is going to be the basis of industrial competitiveness in coastal and international shipping. This study investigates an existing certification process, identifies the limitations, and proposes the process improved with several case studies. The improved certification scheme may have rationality for Net-zero with regard to climate alignment.

고교시설 디자인 지표의 적용 분석 연구 - 경기도 고등학교를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Application of Design Indicators of the High School Facilities - Focused on High School in Gyeonggi-do -)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the fundamental data to improve a school building through comparing and analyzing facilities of high schools located in Gyeonggi - do Province on the basis of the Design Indicator for the Korean Educational Buildings. Two types of high schools were examined for this study. Some of them are high schools selected by Korean Ministry of Education as a school equipped with superior facilities and the others are high schools equipped with general facilities. 8 items such as safety, comfort, the function of education, utilization, the public, eco-friendliness, technology performance, economical efficiency were examined by 5 point Likert scale. Findings showed that all facilities of both types of high schools received high ratings in terms of safety, utilization, and technology performance. However, the evaluation index on 'various used outdoor space' and 'public buildings harmonized with surroundings' of the education function of both types of high schools was low, which implies that the facility related to the education function needs to be improved. It infers that facilities are simplified and harmony with surroundings disappears when altering the design of the school building due to the convenience of building and the problem of the budget. Therefore, these need to be primarily controlled. Additionally, in high schools with general facilities, the evaluation index on 'aesthetic interior and exterior design of comfort', 'the responsive space to the demand for teaching and learning of the function of education', and eco-friendless were so low that these factors need to be considered when designing the school building.

Mg2NiHx-CaF2 수소 저장 복합체의 물질 전과정 평가 (Material Life Cycle Assessment on Mg2NiHx-CaF2 Composites)

  • Research on hydrogen storage is active to properly deal with hydrogen, which is considered a next-generation energy medium. In particular, research on metal hydride with excellent safety and energy efficiency has attracted attention, and among them, magnesium-based hydrogen storage alloys have been studied for a long time due to their high storage density, low cost, and abundance. However, Mg-based alloys require high temperature conditions due to strong binding enthalpy, and have many difficulties due to slow hydrogenation kinetics and reduction in hydrogen storage capacity due to oxidation, and various strategies have been proposed for this. This research manufactured Mg2Ni to improve hydrogenation kinetics and synthesize about 5, 10, 20 wt% of CaF2 as a catalyst for controlling oxidation. Mg2NiHx-CaF2 produced by hydrogen induced mechanical alloying analyzed hydrogenation kinetics through an automatic PCT measurement system under conditions of 423 K, 523 K, and 623 K. In addition, material life cycle assessment was conducted through Gabi software and CML 2001 and Eco-Indicator 99' methodology, and the environmental impact characteristics of the manufacturing process of the composites were analyzed. In conclusion, it was found that the effects of resource depletion (ARD) and fossil fuels had a higher burden than other impact categories.

남서해역에서 양식되는 방사무늬김(Porphyra yezoensis Ueda)의 Diving-PAM에 의한 광합성 특성 (Photosynthetic Characteristics of Porphyra yezoensis Ueda Measured in situ by Diving Pulse-Amplitude Modulated (PAM) Fluorometry on the Southwestern Coast of the Korean Peninsula)

  • 일반적으로 많이 양식되는 방사무늬김(Porphyra yezoensis Ueda)에 대하여 방사무늬김 엽체의 형태적 특성, 탄소 및 질소 성분의 농도, 안정동위원소 비값, 광합성 효율을 방사무늬김 양식이 이루어 지고 있는 남서해역에서 조사를 하였다. 방사무늬김의 형태적 특성에 대해서 살펴보면 평균 엽장은 11.6~16.3 (13.8) cm, 평균 엽폭은 4.6~6.3 (5.4) cm이었고, 단위면적당 방사무늬김 엽체의 평균 엽중량은 $1.1{\sim}2.6(1.86)g\;DW\;m^{-2}$이었다. 단위면적당 Chl a 농도는 2.18~17.77 (평균 9.65) mg DW Chl a $m^{-2}$이었다. 방사무늬김의 탄소 농도는 $201{\sim}317(240)mg\;DW\;g^{-1}$이었고, 질소 농도는 $39.8{\sim}50.0(43.5)mg\;DW\;g^{-1}$이었으며, C/N비는 5.0~6.7 (5.5)이었다. 방사무늬김의 방사성 안정동위원소비 중에서 탄소 안정동위원소 비는 ${\delta}^{13}C$=-25.6‰ 에서 ${\delta}^{13}C$=-24.0‰ (평균 -24.7‰)의 값을 보였고, 질소 안정동위원소 비는 ${\delta}^{15}N$=1.3‰ 에서 ${\delta}^{15}N$=4.1‰ (평균 2.1‰)의 값을 보였다. PAM에 의한 해조류의 광합성 특성은 광합성 활동의 지시자로서 사용될 수 있다. 우리는 Diving-PAM을 이용하여 각 정점 해조류인 방사무늬김의 광합성율을 분석하였다. 최대양자수율은 0.46~0.55 (평균 0.52)로서 최대 양자수율의 변동은 정점간 큰 차이는 없었다. 최대상대전자전달률은 4.71~5.84 (평균 5.33) ${\mu}mol\;electrons\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$ 로서 최대양자수율과 비슷한 분포를 보였다. 기울기 (${\alpha}$)는 0.027~0.045 (평균 0.036)을 보였고, 전자전달을 위한 포화광은 지역에 따라서 일부 차이를 보였으나 $139{\sim}180(156){\mu}mol\;photons\;m^{-2}\;s^{-1}$이었다. 남서해역 방사무늬김 엽체의 탄소 및 질소 농도와 광합성 효율은 지역에 따른 큰 차이는 보이지 않았다. 광합성 특성은 낮은 최대양자수율과 최대 상대전자전달률로 인한 낮은 광합성 효율이 나타났다.
