Due to the increasing income of married working couples, people have become accustomed to dining out and spending more money when doing so. As a result, various restaurants are operating and new concept restaurants are emerging to meet the needs of customers. The purpose of dining-out depends upon who the companion is and the choice of restaurant and spending seems to be affected by the purpose. In addition, characteristics of consumers influence their dining-out behaviors. This study explored the relationship the between characteristics of consumers and their reasons for eating-out purpose, choice of restaurant, spending habits and preferred restaurant type.
The Beautiful rest room is simple how to think. We need to understand that excretion is important as much as eating. When we didn't have foods, eating was important in itself no matter what our lives environments. But now we want to eat in more dignified and more cultural place. Most of restaurants spend money on adjusting place for the consumes' desire. It is same way about rest room, it is time to change our rest room to place of rest and speculation over the place which we fix our natural urge. We can fix our natural urge, take a rest, and get creative ideas in more convenient, more healthy and more comfortable. It is time for us to change out thought about rest room; it is not dirty and stink place, but civilized living place like developed country. Also, we need new concept to take a triangular position about rest room is one of structure over just decorations. This research suggest new public rest room without precedent based on instance analysis about rest room inside and outside the country.
People experience health behaviors for themselves and theses have diversity according to each culture and people and further there is an inherent meaning in health behavior The purpose of this study was to explore the health cconcept of Korean people and their pattern of health behavior The research method was a questionaire including open questions and the subjests were 164 adults age from 21 to 61. Korean health behavior in this study showed a trend that forcuses on emotional comfort which reflects oriental thinking. The result of this study will contribute to build a theory of health behavior and to derive strategies of health behavior to promote health.
This study examined food sharing characteristics revealed in the modern Korean society by both interpreting phenomena and analyzing literature. Diet was said to be the least influenced by western modernization in Korea. Concerning this matter, one of the important explanations to be considered would be a strong influence of 'the first settlement effect' in culture, as reviewed elsewhere. Sharing food means not only sharing food itself but also sharing communal solidarity. The latter was strongly emphasized in Korean food culture due to his own historical grounding. Some examples revealed in current Korea included sometimes too much generous treat when eating out, even saliva allowed food sharing, too much food provision, and too many restaurants. 'Dutch treat' observed in many occasions of food sharing in Korea was also viewed as a product of historical experience, which was related to the degree of traits of feudalism in modern societies as feudalism was based on a sort of a give and take contract. The association of the degree of traits of feudalism and communal solidarity was explored by comparing so called different meal treat manners between Koreans and Japanese, that is, more generous attitude among the former. The concept of communal solidarity was also examined with respect to Koreans' side dish sharing behaviors which sometimes accompanied seemingly insanitary saliva sharing. In addition, provision of too much food was analyzed by relating this manner to a traditional 'hand over dining table' custom. Traditionally, food on a dining table was not supposed to be only for those sitting on the table. Even though the 'hand over dining table' was no longer well preserved at present time, its cultural traits appeared to be well prevailed in the modern Korean society. Finally, an increase of restaurants as well as an increase of eating out occasions were postulated with respect to the notion that restaurants were the places for ascertaining communal solidarity while sharing foods. The above analyses suggest the importance of the influence of sharing originated from his/her own historical grounding for better understanding of modern Korean food culture.
Yaksun, a medicinal diet, has been traditionally prepared and applied (based on theories in oriental medicine) for the modulation of disease symptoms and signs. However, restaurants that serve and claim Yaksun mainly focus on stamina foods. A consistent definition of Yaksun has not been provided, which can confuse the public interpretation of Yaksun. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of Yaksun in Korean adults living in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chungbuk regions. Among the participants (M=55, F=168, 25y), only 10.4% understood the definition of Yaksun (mainly through the broadcast media). The frequency of Yaksun consumed when eating out was 2~3 times per month in 50.2% of participants. The main reason for choosing a Yaksun menu (46.3% of participants) when eating out was for health. The mean satisfaction score of Yaksun was $3.5{\pm}0.8$ on the five point Likert scale. Participants highly agreed ($3.8{\pm}0.8$) that Yaksun is composed of nutritious foods combined with oriental medicinal herbs for the treatment of disease, which was significantly higher in groups with learning experience on Yaksun (p<0.05). Interestingly, participants showed neutral to the description, that a diet without oriental medicinal herbs is not Yaksun ($3.1{\pm}1.0$), which was significantly different between genders (p<0.05). Men recognized more than women that Yaksun should be based on oriental medical theory (p<0.05) and should be prepared for the prevention or treatment of diseases (p<0.05). In conclusion, the concept and terminology of Yaksun need to be defined and publicized in modern diet.
In recent years, as changing the habit of eating, the pathology in the colon grows up annually. For that reason, the colonoscopy is generalized. But it requires much time to acquire a dexterous skill to perform an operation. And the procedure is painful to the patient. Therefore, biomedical and robotic researchers are developing a locomotive colonoscope that can travel safely in colon. In this paper, we propose a novel design and concept of semi-autonomous colonoscope and two actuators for the micro robot. The micro robot comprises camera and LED for diagnosis, steering system to pass through the loop, pneumatic actuator and bow-shaped flexible supporters to control a contact force and to keep the space between colon wall and the actuator. For actuating mechanism, we suggest two models. One is based on the reaction force, and the other is impact force. In order to validate the concept and the performance of the actuators, we carried out the preliminary experiments in rigid pipes.
The objective of this study was to find variables related to propensity of compensatory consumption of university students in Korean and Japan. Questionnaires research method was conducted and 477 samples were selected. Korean undergraduates have higher propensity of compensatory consumption for negative feelings than Japan undergraduates. Japan undergraduates have higher propensity of compensatory consumption for positive feelings than Korean undergraduates. Korean undergraduates have a tendency to compensate positive and negative feelings by drinking. Japan undergraduates have a tendency to compensate positive feelings by eating out, and to compensate negative feelings by buying books. In compensatory consumption for positive feelings, Korean undergraduates is influenced by group identity, but Japan undergraduates is influenced by reference group. Propensity of compensatory consumption of Korean undergraduates is mostly influenced by consumption tendency, materialism, group identity, and self-concept. Propensity of compensatory consumption of Japan undergraduates is influenced by consumption tendency, materialism, reference group, and their family income. The strongest predictor of propensity of compensatory consumption of Korean and Japan undergraduates is consumption tendency, followed by materialism.
