  • There have been 3E problems of energy, economy and environment since the earth has its history. Especially, the energy and environment problems have been getting serious after the modem industry revolution. Therefore, the demand of gas as an eco-friendly energy source is getting increased. With the demand of gas, the installation and use of gas boiler is also increased, so human life injury by the waste gas(CO) of boiler goes on increasing every year. It is the content about a life of the exhaust tube which is used at Gas boiler in this paper. We explain also the course to apply the 6SC(6 Step Creativity)of practical TRIZ and evaluate the resolution.

  • This paper presents the effect of opening configuration on the thermal behavior and air pattern of earth tube system. The earth tube system is a fresh air load reduction system by using underground double floor space for air-conditioning. In order to analyze the effect of opening configuration on thermal performance of this system and air pattern in underground double floor space quantitatively, we used a model dealing with tree-dimensional profile of wind velocity and temperature in underground double floor space. In conclusion, it is confirmed that heat exchange of a fresh air is mainly performed with upper and lower wall in underground double floor space, and that heat exchange area increased by installing the opening near the wall.

  • Different types of long slender pile shall buckle with weak soil and liquefied stratum surrounded. Different from considering single side earth pressure, it was suggested that the lateral earth pressure can be divided into two categories while buckling: the earth pressure that prevent and promotes the lateral movement. Active and passive earth pressure calculation model was proposed supposing earth pressure changed linearly with displacement considering overlying load, shaft resistance, earth pressure at both sides of the pile. Critical buckling load calculation method was proposed based on the principle of minimum potential energy quoting the earth pressure calculation model. The calculation result was contrasted with the field test result of small diameter TC pile (Plastic Tube Cast-in-place pile). The fix form could be fixed-hinged in the actual calculation assuring the accuracy and certain safety factor. The contributions of pile fix form depend on the pile length for the same geological conditions. There exists critical friction value in specific geological conditions that the side friction has larger impact on the critical buckling load while it is less than the value and has less impact with larger value. The buckling load was not simply changed linearly with friction. The buckling load decreases with increased limit active displacement and the load tend to be constant with larger active displacement value; the critical buckling load will be the same for different fix form for the small values.

  • In order to analyze the reason of wall blackening, which affect the decline of lifetime in a ceramic metal halide lamp, we carried out the deterioration of ceramic tubes by a change in operating conditions with arc tubes of two types of spherical and cylindrical, and we have confirmed the cause of wall blackening through the analysis of element composition and spectrum from SEM/EDS and spectrum analyzer. Wall blackening of tungsten was shown by sputtering from ignition in 20 minute on/off condition and wall blackening from chemical reaction between PCA wall and rare earth halides was shown significantly in a condition without on/off test. Especially, the wall blackening and the decline of luminous flux were reduced by inner convection in spherical type arc tube. Moreover, the color temperature and color coordinate were changed by reduction of emission spectrum of Dy which causes the chemical reaction with PCA wall.

  • The lava flows forming the Manjanggul lava tube are commonly said to have a potential source from the Geomunoreum scoria cone. We inferred the source of lava flows with the Manjanggul lava tube, based on many studies about lava tubes within lava flows of active volcano in the world. We made a lava flow field map from lithofacies, features and latitude of lava surfaces in the northeastern part of Jeju Island, and then examined closely the distribution and mutual relation of lava tubes in each lava flow field. As result, the Geomunoreum lava tube system is divided into a series of master tubes(Utsanjeungul, Bukoreumgul, Daerimdonggul, Manjanggul, Gimnyeonggul, Yongcheondonggul and Dangcheomuldonggul lava tube), a complicated networks of small tubes(Bengdwigul lava tube), and a series of unitary tubes(Gimyeongbilemotgul~Gaeusaemgul lava tube) in Geomunoreum lava flows. Particularly a canyon, 2km in length to NNE direction from the Geomunoreum scoria cone, is interpreted to be collapse trench of lava tube roof that belongs to an upflow part of the master tube in the Geomunoreum lava tube system, according to the location and direction. Accordingly, the source of lava flows, forming the Manjanggul lava tube, is the Geomunoreum scoria cone.

  • Wiener filtering method was applied to the dual energy imaging procedure in digital radiography(D.R.). A linear scanning photodiode arrays with 1024 elements(0.6mm H 1.3mm pixel size) were used to obtain chest images in 0.7 sec. For high energy image acquisition, X-ray tube was set at 140KVp, 100mA with a rare-earth phosphor screen. Low energy image was obtained with X-ray tube setting at 70KVp, 150mA. These measured dual energy images are represented in the vector matrix notation as a linear discrete model including the additive random noise. Then, the object images are restored in the minimum mean square error sense using Wiener filtering method in the transformed domain. These restored high and low energy images are used for computation of the basis image decomposition. Then the basis images are linearly combined to produce bone or tissue selective images. Using this process, we could improve the signal to noise ratio characteristics in the material selective images.

  • Demagnetization for a tube sample which was made of a galvanized steel sheet was performed by applying a magnetic field with a decrement to remove the remanent magnetization of the material. An orthogonal fluxgate magnetic field sensor was used to measure a magnetic field created from a ferromagnetic material. To evaluate the remanent magnetization, the measured magnetic fields were separated into two magnetic field components by the remnant magnetization and the induced one. The horizontal and the vertical bias fields should be controlled separately during demagnetization to remove the horizontal and the vertical components of the remanent magnetization of the tube sample.

  • In view of the mounting cost of rehabilitating deteriorating infrastructure, further compounded by intensified environmental concerns, it is now obvious that the evolvement and application of advanced composite structural materials to complement conventional construction materials is a necessity for sustainable construction. This study seeks alternative fill materials (polymer-based) to the much-limited cement concrete used in concrete-filled steel tubular structures. Polymers have been successfully used in other industries and are known to be much lighter, possess high tensile strength, durable and resistant to aggressive environments. Findings of this study relating to elasto-plastic characteristics of polymer concrete filled steel composite beams subjected to uniform bending highlight the enormous increase in stiffness, strength and ductility of the composite beams, over the empty steel tube. Moreover, polymer based materials were noted to present a wide array of properties that could be tailored to meet specific design requirements e.g., ductility based design or strength based design. Analytical formulations for design are also considered.

  • A light-weight multiple piston corer to meet increasing coring needs in areas where R/V access is limited, is designed and discussed. Hydraulically-damped and spring-driven piston system not only virtually undisturbed surface sediments but also facilitate the recovery and subsequent operation including pore water extraction and core slicing on board the ship. It is designed as compact, light-weight and easy to dissemble that whole gear can be carried by small passenger vehicle yet it permits thick-walled core tube for thermal insulation or large opening core tubes. Because single spring instead of heavy weights of conventional gravity-driven multiple corers is used, this device is very simple and cheap to construct.
