라이트(wright), 꼬르뷔제(Corbusier), 미스(Mies)의 전시공간구성 특성 비교연구 (A Comparative Study on the Subject of Exhibition Spaces Designed by F.L. Wright, Le Corbusier, & Mies van der Rohe)

  • A museum architecture has been developed as important representation of a specific period in architectural history. Modern concept of museum architecture has started by Karl Fredrich van Schinkel(1781-1841) through das Altes Museum(1823-1830) back in early 20th century and it continues to be the model for museum architecture for over 30 years. By middle of the 20th century, the movement of redefining new model for the new era on the subject of museum architecture was developed. This development was lead by the three masters of the modern architecture at the time. F.L. Wright, Corbusier, Mies and they were responsible and very active in creating new concepts. Their works in museum design became the prototype and they tried hard to make sure their new concepts to be the stepping stone for further development. This study is to compare the three different museums designed by those masters of the modern architecture, particularly on the issue of the exhibition spaces. The purpose of the study will be focused on the point of interior architecture such as the matters of layout and design characteristics of the exhibition spaces. And it will reveal the impact made by those masters on the advanced development of the current generations of museum designers as well as to describe the prototype of exhibition space. The analyzation was done on FLW's Guggenheim Museum in New York, Corbusier's the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo, and Mies' Die Neue National Galerie in Berliv. Comparable materials were collected through site visits and reference documents from various publications. It will be ideal if this study can be used for further development in new museum design in this country.

염재(念齋) 송태회(宋太會) 서화의 연원과 예술세계 (Yeomjae Song Tae-hoe Origin and art world of calligraphy and painting)

  • 고창 서화는 20세기 초에 들어서 사호 송수면(宋修勉, 1847-1916)의 제자이자 한때는 양자였던 염재 송태회(念齋 宋泰會, 1872~1941)가 고창으로 이주하며 초석을 다졌고 본격적인 흐름이 시작되었다고 볼 수 있다. 염재는 전남 화순 출신으로 조선 말기와 근대기의 학자이자 서화가로서 고향인 화순과 고창을 중심으로 한문과 서화 교육자로 근무하면서 창작활동을 하며 고창 서화의 초석을 다진 인물이다. 어려서부터 총명하였으며 서예에 남다른 재능을 보였다. 16세에는 진사시에 합격(동몽진사)하여 최연소로 성균관에서 수학하였다. 그러나 강직한 성품의 그는 구한말 부정부패의 만연과 외세의 침략 등으로 인해 크게 낙담하여 세상을 등지고 낙향하여 서화로 시름을 달래었다. 고창과 전주를 기반으로 전국에서 전시회를 개최하며 활발하게 활동하였고, 민족정신과 역사를 배양시키기 위해 고창고등보통학교(현, 고창중·고등학교)를 설립하여 후학을 양성한 교육자이기도 하다. 염재는 사호 송수면(宋修勉, 1847~1916) 화풍의 절대적 영향을 받아 강건한 필치의 산수화를 그렸고, 화조화와 사군자 등 남종문인화의 다양한 화목을 다루었다. 특히 한국적 풍토미를 바탕으로 한 근대지향적 실경산수의 구현과 더불어 신문물에도 관심을 가지고 그림으로 표현했다는 점에서 초창기 근·현대를 아우르는 대표적 서화가로서, 근·현대 고창 서화의 기틀을 다졌다. 또한 세계적 화가 고암 이응노(顧菴 李應魯, 1904~1989)는 10대 후반에 염재로부터 묵화의 기본을 사사하였다. 하지만 이러한 그의 다양한 예술적·사회적 활동에 비해 지역작가로서의 한계와 평가에 그치고 있는 점은 아쉽다.

  • 본 논문은 1920년대 한국의 일상생활문화의 모습을 담아낸 휴먼 다큐멘터리의 시대적 상황을 살펴보는데 목적을 두고 있다. 특히 다큐멘터리가 지향하는 시대적 기록성과 사회적 목적성에 의한 표현은 기록중심의 계획된 에세이의 중요한 사항중의 하나임을 감안할 때, 본 연구의 분석 대상인 노르베르트 베버 총아빠스의 <고요한 아침의 나라에서>의 분석결과는 인간의 모습을 담아내는 휴먼 다큐멘터리의 관찰자적 양식의 접근 방식은 시대적 기록과 역사성의 의미를 부여한다. 특히 타자의 시선에 비춰진 인물의 관찰과 기록은 수용자에게 중요한 믿음의 상징체계를 구현하고 휴머니즘의 중요성을 강조하고 있는 것으로 분석된다. 기술적 표현 양식의 결과 분석에서는 다양한 프레임의 구성에 따른 관찰과 대상의 리얼리티를 강조하면서 인간의 가치와 경험의 중요성에 대해 서술하고 있는 것으로 분석된다.

  • The map where so-called 'New Religion' of Korea in the Colonial Era is entangled with 'Religion (Christianity, Buddhism, Shindo)' recognized by the Japanese Government General of Korea and nationalism. Accordingly positive research on how religious ideal and ideology in 'New Religion' in Korea was practically applied and practiced in the society is a crucial task. Meanwhile there is survey data representing the status in the long term from 1860s to early 1930s in regard to 'New Religion' of Korea in the Colonial Era. In other words it is 'Pseudo Religion in Joseon' by Murayama Jijun published in 1935. Most part of them are shown through statistics data. In particular he took a look at the distribution of 'Pseudo Religion', ups and downs of religious influence, faith consciousness, its impact and religious ideological movement and social movement. Therefore, if this statistical data could be utilized through quellenkritik, it is thought to have value of significant reference in research on Korea's 'New Religion'. This paper utilizes many statistics included in the survey data among critical review on recognition in Murayama's 'New Religion in Korea' as basic texts. During the procedure this paper seeks to look at the geology of Korean 'New Religion' and attempts basic consideration in the quantitative term related to trend and ups and downs of the groups. Through this basic research I hope that 'public concern of New Religion' in modern Korea and research on re-establishment will move forward.

개성 인삼상인의 근대기업화와 ESG 경영이념 (Modern Enterprise & ESG Management philosophy of Gaeseong Ginseng Merchant)

  • 개성은 18세기 들어 성행한 인삼 재배와 교역으로 막대한 자본이 축적되면서 근대적 자본주의가 발달할 조건을 갖추었다. 일제 강점기 시절 인삼 상인들은 인삼에서 나온 자본을 단순히 지주자본에 묶어두지 않고 산업자본, 금융자본으로의 전환을 적극적으로 추진해 근대 기업가로 활동한다. 20세기 초반 설립된 개성전기주식회사, 대한천일은행, 개성양조주식회사, 송고실업장 등은 인삼상인들이 주축이 되어 공동 투자하고 공동경영을 맡았다. 이들은 기업이윤만을 추구하지 않고 사회 지도층으로서 개성상업학교 건립, 고려시보 창간, 개성좌 운영 등 개성의 교육, 문화발전을 위해 후원자로 나서 지역발전을 견인한다. 자유주의 경제학에서는 주주이익 우선이 기업의 목적이었지만 21세기 들어와서는 이해관계자(stakeholder)에 대한 사회책임을 강조한다. 또 재무적 성과를 중시하는 던 경향에서 비재무적 요소가 더 중시되는 ESG( Environment, Social, Governance) 경영이 중요해지고 있다. ESG 경영은 환경을 생각하고 사회가치를 창출 공유하며 기업의 투명성을 중시한다. 과거에는 돈을 잘 버는 기업이 좋은 기업이었으나 현대에 와서는 사회책임을 다하는 기업이 좋은 기업으로 평가받는다. 20세기 초반 인삼상인들의 기업활동에서는 현대 경영의 필수요소인 기업가 정신과 ESG 경영이 실현되고 있었다. 이들이 시대를 앞서 현대적 경영이념을 실천할 수 있었던 것은 개성의 지역성에서 비롯된다. 개성인들은 조선왕조의 정치적 차별로 관직 진출의 길이 막혀 사농공상(士農工商)의 엄격한 신분제하에서 양반, 지식인이 상업의 길로 들어설 수밖에 없었다. 우수한 인력이 대거 상업으로 진출하면서 개성의 상업은 더욱 활발했고 상인의 가치관도 선진적이었다. 대표적인 인삼상인 손봉상, 공성학은 상인이면서 유학자, 문인이었다. 인삼상인 2-3 세대들은 해외에서 고등교육을 받고 개성으로 돌아와 삼업을 잇고 인삼에서 나온 자본을 기반으로 근대적 기업을 설립했다. 20세기 초반 인삼상인들의 상업활동을 분석하면 ESG 경영이념이 배여 있는 선구적 기업가였음을 확인할 수 있다. 사람의 생명을 살리는 인삼처럼 개성 인삼상인의 상업활동과 근대 기업화에서는 사람의 얼굴을 한 자본주의의 한 단면을 볼 수 있다.

Office dA의 디자인 프로세스에 나타나는 디지털 물성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Digital Materiality in Office dA's Architectural Design Process)

  • The notion of materiality in architecture has existed throughout its history, and it has begun to discussed in earnest as an important architectural discourse since early twentieth century, when the Industrial Revolution and its consequent mass-production system has fundamentally changed the means and methods of architectural production. However, this traditional notion of materiality is not fully engaged with today's digital paradigm, and not able to inquire into the complex aspects of contemporary architectural process, because their theoretical and perceptional bases are still remaining in modern era. In this shifting context, this study is intended to develop a new concept of digital materiality which corresponding to contemporary digital and material culture. This paper speculates and argues digital materiality as an active ingredients of contemporary design process as well as a comprehensive logical system that negotiate with various geometric conditions. The purpose of this study is to analyze and investigates the distinctive characteristics of Office dA's architectural design process in the digital realm.

구스타브 클림트[Gustav Klimt]의 개혁의상에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Reformative Costume of Gustav Klimt)

  • This paper is a perspectiveon the reformative costume expressed by Gustav Klimt who led the Secession Movement as a great master in Vienna. Klimt actively expressed a new costume style in his paintings, which influenced heavily on the modern costume design. This paper may contribute to reestablish the constructive direction for the 21st century fashion design based on Klimt's pursuing holistic art concept. The reformative costume in Klimt's paintings has two characteristics; ornamentism, eroticism, and reformativeness. Ornamentism is expressed with fantastic colors, various motives, exotic features, simple style clothes, and so on. Klimt used independent ornaments to express carnal desires metaphorically, which set ornaments free to lead spectators to the dreamy or elusive state and even have spectators indulged in ecstasy. As the Secession Movement focused on reforming all areas of life artistically, the costumes of Klimt's paintings symbolically express the reformativeness; he portrayed the woman in the early 20th century and sought to reform its contemporary value as a visual sensuality. Klimt tried to disrupt from the former era by over-emphasizing eroticism. The erotic expression with the colors and the style of ornaments substitute naturally for suggestive eroticism of the feminine body. With has creativity, Klimt has spectators extract the various senses from the female image in his paintings. Klimt's creative spirit on the holistic art concept could be helpful to develop a unique design as a catalyst foreseeing over the present.

Archaeology Characteristics of The Khogno Khan - The Special Protected Area of Mongolia -

  • The Khogno Khan mountain special protected area belongs to Khogno Khan subdistrict of Gurvanbulag district of Bulgan Province and is 46.9 sq.km. with its main feature being mountain forest zone. In this paper we present some results of research of the Anthropological and archaeological team of Mongolian Korean Joint research expeditions carryied out in Khogno Khan mountain special protected area from 27 July to 1 August, 2000. During archaeological reconnaissance we discovered around 27 localities of archaeological monuments belonging to different historical periods (from the Neolithic up to the Mongolian period, $13^{th}-17^{th}$ Century) in the territory of the Khogno Khan special protected area. Based on the results, we especially want to point out 1). The archaeological and historic monuments (from the Neolithic up to modern era) found in the Khogno Khan mountain and its surrounding area show that since the Neolithic period (around 8000 years ago) this area was occupied by the ancestors of Mongolians and it was used during subsequent historic periods on the one hand. 2). On the other hand the Khogno Khan mountain region was one area where there occurred intensive admixture between populations of Kurgan culture, Deerstone culture from the West Mongolia and the population of slab graves culture from Central and East Mongolia during Bronze and Early Iron Age. 3). Today the mountain is one of the area with a unique assemblage of archaeological monuments from different historic periods, what naturally seems like an open-air natural museum of Mongolian Prehistory.

Vanity Furniture as A New Type of Furniture in Modern Era - Focused on Patented Art Deco Vanity Furniture in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum -

  • The study of Lurelle Van Arsdale Guild (1898-1986)'s vanity table and stool in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum is essential to understand how the stylistic change was made on industrial design in the 1930s caused by economic necessity. The vanity furniture expresses in such relatively inexpensive image transformations that would attract new customers in the Depression. The objects are donated from a collector and became one of CHM's collections in 1997. In curatorial file, other than the designer's and manufacturer's names there is nothing specified for these objects. Therefore, this study is aimed for researching the exact date for these valuable objects for understanding American Art Deco furniture in the 1930s. Moreover, studying social aspect of these objects gives clear vision for the background. Especially, the History of American Standard (Rodengen, 1999) gives great over view to the history of the manufacturer, C. F. Church Company. The record in Fortune of 1934 suggests the designer, Lurelle Guild's position among other industrial designers at that time. And Profoundly, the objects were assigned design patents. Therefore, the vanity furniture set in the CHM was a significant symbol of early modernism rising from functional areas after the Depression.

도창법(倒倉法)의 연혁(沿革)과 현대적 응용 (The Reaserch of Dochangbup)

  • Objective : "Dochangbup" is one of the therapies that remove pathogenic qi[邪氣] from the Emetic Method in the Miscellaneous Disorders part of Dongeuibogam東醫寶鑑. It is, in particular, the method of treatment that removes phlegm[痰], the cause of various disorders. Method : Application of "Dochangbup" had a long history in Korea as well. The meaning and application of "Dochangbup" are mentioned in various texts from early Chosun dynasty to the post liberation. Result : In China, there are a lot of medical texts by physicians throughout Ming and Qing Dynasty, with GeZhiYuLun格致餘論 at the top of the list, dealing with the meaning and applicable scope of "Dochang" method and pharmacy of "Hacheongo霞天膏". Most of the physicians are affiliated with Dan Xi School, regarding ZhudanXi朱丹溪 as a suzerain. In "Dongeuibogam", it is mentioned that "Dochangbup" can treat various disorders caused by phlegm. Though, when there is a possibility of harming original qi[元氣] during the treatment or grave deficiency in patients, it is requested to consider tonifying while purging. Conclusion : "Dochangbup" can be applied not only to the disorders mentioned in classical medical texts, like heart pain[心痛], leg disease[脚氣], urine turbidity[小便濁], involuntary discharge of semen[遺精], cough[咳嗽], blood spitting[喀血], but also to metabolic syndrome such as obesity, hypertention and diabetes, commonly found in the modern era.
