  • Management of the workforce in the early career stage who enter information security work after graduating from college or university so that they can continue to develop their information security careers without leaving the organization can be a solution to the problem of absolute shortage of staffing and lack of skills. This is because the workforce can improve their job skills, and organizations can build a stable, cost-effective human resource management system. This paper constructed and verified a turnover intention research model focusing on the factors that affect the turnover intention of early-stage workforce who took their first steps in society as an information security workforce after graduating from university or college; it confirmed that self-realization is a crucial factor. Furthermore, with in-depth interviews, the career path information of skilled workers, which is essential information necessary for self-realization, was analyzed, and the direction of HRM for self-realization of the workforce in the early career stage was presented.

  • This paper examines the differences between the subsequent careers of high school and college graduate workers based on a direct role of college graduation with regard to the revelation of workers' individual abilities. Using NLSY79, we document a positive relationship between off-the-job training/performance-pay jobs and ability for high school graduates at the early stages of their careers. However, this relationship is less prominent for college graduates. Moreover, we show that high ability is associated with more jobs, which reflects higher job mobility, only for high school graduates. We argue that these patterns are the result of productivity-revealing behavior of high school graduates, whose individual abilities, unlike college graduates, is not observed precisely at the beginning of their careers.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of interpersonal relationship ability, job stress, and stress coping type on the turnover intention of nurses in the early stage of their careers. Methods: Data were collected from 136 early stage nurses from two general hospitals and one tertiary hospital in Chungbuk province. An early stage nurse was defined as the nurse with a work experience of 3 to 36 months. The collected data were analyzed using independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U test, Person's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: It was seen that turnover intention had a negative correlation with interpersonal competency (r=-.20, p=.020) and a positive correlation with job stress (r=.56, p<.001). Job stress due to work over load, inadequate compensation and working environment, interpersonal relationship ability, and length of clinical career were significant factors influencing turnover intention (p<.05). These variables explained for 50.4% of the variance in turnover intention. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop an interpersonal relationship ability improvement program to decrease turnover intention among early stage nurses by helping them to successfully adapt to their job. Moreover, it is important to bring about continuous improvements in terms of provision of adequate workload and appropriate rewards, and creation of a suitable work environment to reduce the job stress of early stage nurses.

Participants were 87 teachers recruited by the Provincial Authority for Supervision of Education in Jeonam Province. Data were analyzed by Yun's (1998) method based on Novack & Gowin (1984), Morine-Dershimer (1993), and Markham et al. (1994). Findings were that (1) the majority of the participants perceived superordinate concepts of early childhood instructional content in literature to be typesof literature, reading, writing, speaking, expression, and listening. Subordinate concepts were stated by 456 different words. (2) Types of literature and writing were highest in frequency of superordinate concepts and were also high among subordinate concepts and hierarchy. • The purpose of this study is to identify the factors influencing conflict transition through the conflict transition process experienced by college graduates with early careers. The participants of this study were in-depth interviews with a total of 8 young people aged 25-34 who graduated from college and found their common subjects in all cases. As a result, the topics such as 'lack of recognition and compensation', 'unfairness of supervisor', 'characteristics of job (interdependence, autonomy)' were derived. 'Lack of recognition and compensation' brought about a sense of skepticism about the idea that even though they worked hard, they could not be recognized. And it caused a conflict transition. When the participants felt the 'unfairness of the supervisor', the task conflicts were further amplified and it transfer to relationship conflict. Among the characteristics of 'job characteristics', when highly interdependent occupations were carried out, conflict transition was shown and conflict levels were high. On the other hand, the work environment with job autonomy showed job satisfaction and did not show conflict transition. This study has an academic significance in that it revealed the types of conflicts and conflict transfer factors experienced in early career status of college graduates. In addition, this research have the practical implications to improves the participants' understanding of the conflict transfer through actual scene in the workplace.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the causes of turnover, the causes of stay, and the effects of turnover of college graduates with early careers, based on the concept of job embeddedness and their stances. For this study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 college graduates with early careers and the interviews were analyzed with phenomenological analytic research. The result of the study shows that the cause of turnover intention includes fit and link which are components of job embeddedness. More specifically, turnover intention of the interviewee is affected by fit which includes whether their ability and talent are used properly and whether their vision and culture fit well those of their organization, also affected by link which includes the formal or informal mutual relationship with coworkers and superiors. Stay intention, on the other hand, includes fit which contains satisfaction about work and organization, long-term career management. Stay intention also includes sacrifice which are anxiety about uncertain future and satisfaction about being employed. As an aspect of the effect of turnover, the satisfaction and fulfillment about work which are experienced after turnover by the interviewees and the satisfaction about coworkers and the team in which the interviewees are included offset the negative effect of turnover. The result also shows that organization should consider their workers' satisfaction about the first work, their amicable relationship, and turnover cost, to improve working and living standard of colleges graduates with early careers and to prevent them from turnover.

  • This study focuses on the staffs of the Governmental Organization of Construction who actually led this organization. Two main points of this study are as follows; 1) The composition and appointment of staffs, before and after the Korea-Japan Treaty in 1907, are evaluated, and 2) The working and academic career of each personnel are analyzed in connection with understanding of internal characteristics of this organization. Special attention is given to Korean personel and Japanese engineers who undertook a leading role. Korean engineering staffs were very few in number. It is thought, viewing their records of careers, that almost all of them didn't have any engineering basis, and simply they had some relations to Japan. It is certain that their role in this organization was interpreters using their Japanese language ability, and their roles were only limited to non-technical areas, if any. The early engineers from Japan were selected among the officials with comparatively rich careers of the Temporary Architectural Dept. or the Temporary Engineering Dept. of Custom House in Japan. But, in later days, the quality of Japanese engineers changed to the level of premature without practical experiences who unwillingly came to Korea to have a job under the depression of construction economy of Japan. The academic careers of Japanese engineers were various, from self-taught to regural college education, but the leading engineers were from Tokyo University. The civil engineers became high-level technical officials in the Government-General after the Japanese Annexation of Korea. But, sometimes later, many of the architectural engineers became practicing architect managing design offices on private basis.

  • The meddle years start when persons achieve maturity and end when they realize they are old, and we commonly call ages between thirty-live and sixty five the middle years. Thinking of life as a play, the middle years lead up to and away from the climax of the plot. In the early part of middle age, the man is the main support of his family, and is out to establish himself in his career. He is in a race toward success, and may acquire a sponsor who picks him out as a protege. In the middle part of middle age, the man is ready to come into his own and may break with his sponsor. Most persons are now at the height of their potential, know their areas of competence, and have the satisfaction of feeling in control in them. They need no longer prove themselves from day to day, for they are credited with past accomplishments. Some are caught in "promotion or success depression", and some continue to change jobs creating difficulties is readjustment. The more satisfactory changes usually occur within a career rather than through shifiting careers. In e later part of the middle age the man worries about his physical health, and experiences depression in facing the retirement. Woman frequently change the course of their lives some time between the ages of thirty-five and forty, and may resume their education or careers. Tee quarters of women are passing through "involutional melancholia".
