  • 도심지 유통물류시설 실증사이트에 ESS기반 융복합 제품 적용 및 관련 시스템 구축을 통하여 유통물류시설에서의 ESS 설치 공간적 제약 극복, 실증을 통한 안정성과 성능 검증, 제품 적용과 데이터 수집 분석을 통한 효율적 운영 방안 마련 등과 제품 적용에 따른 피크 제어 및 비상발전기 가동 전 대체 등을 설계함으로써 ESS의 유통물류 시설 보급 확대 기반을 마련하였다.

  • Prepare a lose of 765kV transmission route in power system operation condition, there are some Special Protection Scheme(SPS)s in Korean power system. These SPS can make some preselected generators are tripped to avoid generator overspeed. Because of many of the new large power plants are installed to existing power generation sites due to the siting problem, the number of generator tripped by SPS should be increased. But that can be a cause of system frequency change under the Under Frequency Relay(UFR) 1st pickup level 59.0Hz. Therefore generation constraint should be considered until new transmission lines are installed. In this paper, we propose the ESS application for generation constraint mitigation by frequency damping control of ESS. To analysis an effect of ESS application, we use PSS/E dynamic simulation tool, CBEST model and controller model. The proposed ESS application is applied to the empirical Korean power system.

쿠바 주파수조정 ESS 운영 전략 검토: 주파수 보상 효과 분석 (Feasibility Study for Application of Frequency Regulation ESS in Cuba: Technological Effects on Improving Frequency Compensation)

  • KEPCO has installed Frequency Regulation ESS (FR ESS) of 376 MW since 2015. Frequency Regulation is ancillary service to support stabilizing system frequency, which is divided into governor free and automatic generation control. KEPCO operates FR ESS as governor free application and leads FR ESS market with capability of diverse demonstration and operation experiences. To expand FR ESS role during transient states of power system, KEPCO has extended operating time of charging and discharging. KEPCO has also changed speed droop lower than before to improve contribution on frequency compensation, and acquired much experiences of differentiating bad cells from others. Based on these technologies and know-hows, KEPCO Research Institutes received request of feasibility study and technical cooperation for overseas FR ESS business. This paper suggests the simple and practical method for making technological feasibility study of FR ESS.

  • Recently, ESS became efficient device to stabilize electric power supply system with the development SG related technology. In fact. there are some constraints to supply ESS, because of the high cost and required space, but rapid technology development for ESS will make it more useful soon. So, through this paper, we analyzed the benefit and demand effect when the battery is applied the building based on the measured energy consumption. After that, we got the conclusion that there is a volume limit in ESS application, in a benefit view point. And we realized that there is a demand violation, and the Cost-based BEMS is the best solution to enhance the effect of ESS application.

안전한 ESS 사용을 위한 System 구조와 GUI 구현에 관한 연구 (A Study on System Structure and GUI Implement for Secure ESS use)

  • As interest in the efficiency use of energy has been recently rising, studies have been performed in utilizing various types of eco-friendly green energy and natural energy. Especially there has been rapidly increase in the fields using ESS (Energy Storage System), which is the technology for storing the energy from nature. The application fields of ESS is continuously growing and expanding to various types of technologies. However, in recent years there have been continuing problems with the safety of ESS. And related researches are going on. In this paper, we has proposed a system structure to utilize more secure ESS and has monitored the system status of ESS in real time by using smart phone app. This paper has also proposed a new method to configure secure ESS by implementing GUI (Graphical User Interface) to control the system. And then explain experimental results to investigate the efficiency of the proposed ESS.

  • Owing to the reduction in the peak power of a DC railway subsystem, many studies on energy storage system (ESS) applications have received attention. Each application focuses on improving the efficiency and addressing regulation issues by utilizing the huge regenerative energy generated by braking-phase vehicles. The ESS applications are widely divided into installation on a vehicle or in a substation, depending on the target system characteristics. As the main purpose of the ESS application is to reduce the peak power of starting-phase vehicles, an optimized ESS utilization can be achieved by the operating at the highest peak power section. However, the weight of an entire vehicle, including those of the passengers, continuously changes during operation; thus, considering the total power consumption and the discharging point is difficult. As a contribution to the various storage device algorithms, this study deals with ESS on board vehicles and introduces an ESS operating plan for peak-power reduction by investigating the weight of a train on a real-time basis. This process is performed using a train-performance simulator, and the simulation accuracy can be increased because the weight in each phase can be adopted in the simulation.

  • Around the world are increasing the demand for ESS. Currently, the domestic is expected to benefit by operating ESS. In the domestic, it is expected to benefit from operations of the installed ESS because of the introduction of ESS less capacity. However ESS capacity to the maximum profit occurs is unknown. ESS is different from the charge-discharge characteristics and the reserve to replace, depending on the application. Therefore, it should be established in accordance with the ESS optimal capacity according to the purpose used because it can maximize the quality and efficiency of the electric energy. To the ESS optimal capacity estimation by the purpose used, It should compare the investment cost caused by ESS facility installation and operation cost caused by operating ESS. In this paper, the operation mathematical model for estimating marginal operation costs established. In operation mathematical model, operating cost is considered fuel cost and no-load cost start-up cost. Because no-load cost and start-up cost are not related to cost and power plant output, there are expressed an integer variable costs as a step function.

  • In case of developing a combined system by a number of distributed resources with storage device, a number of application suggests a huge capacity can derive operational flexibility both power supply issues or when unexpected situation imposed. However, it is important to determine a resonable energy capacity because the device have many controversial cost issues in current power system industry. An ESS application which focusing essentially required points can induce appropriate storage capacity that required in economic operation. In this paper, a curtailment supporting algorithm based on storage device is introduced, and applied in the capacity calculation method. The main algorithm pursues handling minor exceeding quantities which can cause mechanical load at blade; This paper tries to include it for configuring hybrid algorithm with pitch control. Several fluctuating conditions are utilized in simulation to reflect critical situation. The analyzing process focuses on the control feasibility with applied capacity and control method.

전자장비 신뢰성 향상을 위한 ESS 프로세스 모델링 및 적용에 관한 연구 (A Study on ESS Process Modeling and Application for Improving Reliability of Electronic Equipments)

  • Purpose: In this study, we propose the ESS process model which, in order to improve reliability of electronic equipment, can be referenced in both development and production phases. Methods: ESS guidelines such as MIL handbooks or private sector ESS guidelines are used for devising the proposed ESS model. Especially, proposed model is customized by using those references in order to be optimized in the domestic development and production phases. Results: ESS-related-requirements which is specified in the Technical Data Package(TDP) for the area of guided missile systems are analyzed. Current status of the requirement and screening strength are analyzed for those systems to show what kind of weak points should be improved. Conclusion: A ESS guideline which is applicable to the domestic weapon acquisition environment is proposed. As such, the necessity and detail guidelines of the proposed model are explained.

ESS 화재전용 소화약제 및 소화시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Fire Extinguishing Agent and Extinguishing System for ESS Fire)

  • 본 논문은 ESS 화재전용 소화약제 및 소화시스템 개발에 관한 연구이다. ESS 화재를 진압하기 위해 제작된 소화약제는 침윤제 타입으로 주된 소화효과인 냉각작용과 더불어 질식작용과 함께 표면장력 및 점도를 낮춘 침투성이 높은 소화약제로 ESS 모듈 내부의 배터리 셀까지 소화약제가 침투 가능한 특징이 있다. 소화시스템의 경우 랙 단위로 화재를 진압하는 국소방출방식으로 설계하였고, 소화효과를 극대화하기 위해 랙에 장착되는 일반형 노즐과 ESS 모듈 후면 홀에 삽입하는 360° 회전형 노즐을 제작하고, 가스방출압력에 의해 소화약제가 강하게 방사되도록 하였다. ESS 모듈 1단위 및 모듈 3단위 화재진압성능 실험결과 소화약제 방사 후 각각 8 s 및 9 s 만에 눈에 보이는 화염이 모두 소멸되었다. 또한, 소화약제 방사종료 후 600 s 동안 재발화 여부를 확인한 결과 모든 화재진압성능 실험에서 재발화가 일어나지 않고 ESS 화재가 완벽히 진압되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
