  • This paper proposes a new disturbance observer(DOB). The purpose of the DOB is to realize the plant performing like a model in the presence of disturbances which come from external environment and inherent nonlinearities and uncertainties in the plant. It is shown that the proposed DOB compensates those disturbances, nonlinearities and uncertainties, effectively. And it is theoretically proved that the proposed DOB can be guaranteed its stability for the stable plant. Its availability is shown by applying the DOB to the stabilization platform for EOTS(Electro Optical Tracking System).

  • In the bomb impact test, to acquire the bomb impact point location the high-priced embedded equipments such as the Bomb Scoring System or the EOTS are needed. Recently, a high-resolution image processing could be possible since the resolution of the commercial camera is growing rapidly. In this paper we first propose an image transformation method for acquiring the real bomb impact image using a high-resolution commercial camera, and then present the process calculating the real bomb impact point location coordinate from the transformed image. Based on the experimental results we found the possibilities that the real bomb impact point information could be effectively earned just using the commercial camera.

  • Recently it is very important to collect information such as enemy positions and facilities. To this end, unmanned aerial vehicles such as multicopters have been actively developed, and various mission equipment mounted on unmanned aerial vehicles have also been developed. The coordinate-oriented algorithm refers to an algorithm that calculates a gaze angle so that the mission equipment can fix the gaze at a desired coordinate or position. Flight data and GPS data were collected and simulated using Matlab for coordinate-oriented algorithms. In the simulation using only the coordinate data, the average Pan axis angle was about 0.42°, the Tilt axis was 0.003°~0.43°, and the relatively wide error was about 0.15° on average. As a result of converting this into the distance in the NE direction, the error distance in the N direction was about 2.23m on average, and the error distance in the E direction was about -1.22m on average. The simulation applying the actual flight data showed a result of about 19m@CEP. Therefore, we conducted a study on the self-error of coordinate-oriented algorithms in monitoring and information collection, which is the main task of EOTS, and confirmed that the quantitative target of 500m is satisfied with 30m@CEP, and showed that the desired coordinates can be directed.

  • In this paper, we perform Single Image Super Resolution(SISR) for acquired images of EOTS or IRST from naval combat system. In order to conduct super resolution, we use Generative Adversarial Networks(GANs), which consists of a generative model to create a super-resolution image from the given low-resolution image and a discriminative model to determine whether the generated super-resolution image is qualified as a high-resolution image by adjusting various learning parameters. The learning parameters consist of a crop size of input image, the depth of sub-pixel layer, and the types of training images. Regarding evaluation method, we apply not only general image quality metrics, but feature descriptor methods. As a result, a larger crop size, a deeper sub-pixel layer, and high-resolution training images yield good performance.

  • The Diamond Like Carbon(DLC) films for the Electro Optical Tracking System(EOTS) by using Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition(PECVD) method is presented. We achieve that the DLC films can reduce the surface delamination of thermal observation sensor front window due to the high hardness, low friction and chemical inertness which is comparable to a Si film. According to our experiment results, DLC films can be used for various electro optical systems to eliminate surface delamination.

  • EO TGP(Electro-Optical Targeting Pod) is an optical tracking system which has various functions such as target tracking and image stabilization and LOS(Line of Sight) change. Especially, it is very important to move the LOS into a interest point for joystick command. When pilot move joystick in order to observe different scene, EO TGP gimbals should be operated properly. Generally, most EOTS just operate corresponding gimbal for joystick command. For example, if pilot input horizontal command in order to observe right hand screen, it just drive azimuth gimbal at any position. But in the screen, the image dosen't move in a horizontal direction because gimbal structure is Euler angle. And image rotation is occurred by elevation gimbal angle. So we need to move Pitch gimbal. So in the paper, we designed LOS moving algorithm which convert LOS command to gimbal velocity command to move LOS properly. We modeled a differential kinematic equation and then change the joystick command into velocity command of gimbals. This algorithm generate velocity command of each gimbal for same horizontal direction command. Finally, we verified performance through MATLAB/Simulink.

  • This is an example we generally have a variety of equipment that can detect and track the targets and track them quickly and accurately through the information exchange among each piece of equipment. These equipment have similar detection areas (FOV), but some are different due to the limit of the resolution of the equipment. In this paper, we studied the method of reducing detection time and tracking the targets automatically.

  • In KSLV-I launch mission, real-time data from the tracking stations are acquired, processed and distributed by the Mission Control System to the user group who needed to monitor processed data for safety and flight monitoring purposes. The processed trajectory data by the mission control system is sent to each tracking system for target designation in case of tracking failure. Also, the processed data are used for decision making for flight termination when anomalies occur during flight of the launch vehicle. In this paper, we propose the processing mechanism of slaving data which plays a key role of launch vehicle tracking mission. The best position data is selected by predefined logic and current status after every available position data are acquired and pre-processed. And, the slaving data is distributed to each tracking stations through time delay is compensated by extrapolation. For the accurate processing, operation timing of every procesing modules are triggered by time-tick signal(25ms period) which is driven from UTC(Universial Time Coordinates) time. To evaluate the proposed method, we compared slaving data to the position data which received by tracking radar. The experiments show the average difference value is below 0.01 degree.

  • In this article, the design of a variable F-number and triple magnification infrared optical system is described. That is a two-in-one optical system that combines an infrared search and track (IRST) system and an electro-optical tracking system (EOTS), where an afocal optical system is added to the IRST optical system designed already. The performance target is determined by analyzing system performance, and then the specification in the optical system design is calculated. This optical system contains a warm stop making it possible that one optics has two different F/# by cutting the size of aperture, and that is designed to suit this optics. The system satisfies the requirement such as a modulation transfer function (MTF). For operational assessment, the movement of the focusing lens group is analyzed over the change of temperature and target distance. By using this optical system, it is possible to develop equipment having two functions, infrared searching and electro-optical tracking.
