  • Entropy is a measure of disorder or uncertainty. This terminology is qualitatively used in the understanding of its correlation to pollution in the environmental area. In this research, three different entropies were defined and characterized in order to quantify the qualitative entropy previously used in the environmental science. We are dealing with newly defined distinct entropies $E_1$, $E_2$, and $E_3$ originated from Shannon entropy in the information theory, reflecting concentration of three major green house gases $CO_2$, $N_2O$ and $CH_4$ represented as the probability variables. First, $E_1$ is to evaluate the total amount of entropy from concentration difference of each green house gas with respect to three periods, due to industrial revolution, post-industrial revolution, and information revolution, respectively. Next, $E_2$ is to evaluate the entropy reflecting the increasing of the logarithm base along with the accumulated time unit. Lastly, $E_3$ is to evaluate the entropy with a fixed logarithm base by 2 depending on the time. Analytical results are as follows. $E_1$ shows the degree of prediction reliability with respect to variation of green house gases. As $E_1$ increased, the concentration variation becomes stabilized, so that it follows from linear correlation. $E_2$ is a valid indicator for the mutual comparison of those green house gases. Although $E_3$ locally varies within specific periods, it eventually follows a logarithmic curve like a similar pattern observed in thermodynamic entropy.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of oral administration of Yongyukjowi-tang(YJT) on the immune activity in aged Sprague-Dawley rat(SD rat). Methods : SD rats were divided into three groups: Yongyukjowi-tang groups(YJT groups), distilled water groups(control groups) and Vitamin C groups(positive control groups) which were administered an oral dose(1ml/1day) to 6, 48 and 68 weeks old SD rats for four weeks. After four weeks, the number of total leukocyte, CD3+, CD4+, CD8+, and the level of cytokine (IL-2, IL-4, IL-10, IFN-${\gamma}$) were measured in spleen tissue of each SD rats. Results and Conclusions : 1) The number of total leukocyte significantly increased in 52 weeks old YJT group and 72 weeks old YJT group in comparison with those of the control group. 2) The number of CD3+ cell significantly increased in 72 weeks old YJT group in comparison with those of the control group and the positive control group. 3) The number of CD8+ cell significantly increased in 52 weeks old YJT group in comparison with those of the control group. 4) The level of IL-2 significantly increased in 72 weeks old YJT group in comparison with those of the control group and the positive control group. 5) The level of IL-4 significantly increased in 52 weeks old YJT group in comparison with those of the positive control group. These results suggest that oral administration of YJT has an effect on increase of immune activity in aged rat.

  • The most important environment of human being is the human being itself. So we have been sensitive to the appearance of ours and others at the same time. This writing aims for locating origins of the face and discerning differences [1] between the face of humans and those of other animals [2]. The face assumes a substantial significance not merely as a body function, but, above all, a means of expressions and features being looked at. The face is an important means of communication to humans as social animals. Knowledges about the various faces of the face are useful to become a efficient specialist as an extensive generalist because the face is a regular patron to the plastic surgery. The face in Korean consists of two elements of eol (the soul or the mind) and gul a residing place). When Wittgenstein says "the face is the soul of the body," his semantics corresponds to the Korean meaning. The meaning of the face in Korean is summed up in five ways. (1) the head or the front of the face with the eye, the nose and the mouth, (2) reputation or honor, (3) the general description of the psychological state, such as "the face of sadness", (4) a figure person representing a particular area, such as "Sun Dong-yul is the face of the Korean baseball community," (5) the primary imagery of the things and the event, such as "He is the face of the 4.19 Revolution." As such, the word "face", referring to a body part, extends its usages in a wide variety of contexts. What image do you convoke when you think of a person? With rare exceptions, you are most likely to invoke the face of the person. The face has come to be a byword for one's reputation or honor, and a pronoun for an expression of the essence of the thing and the event. This is presumably true of other languages. That is because human beings are equipped with the universal rule of language. A comprehensive understanding of the face is a must for cosmetic surgeons whose main responsibility is to sculpt and repair the face (Fig. 1).

  • In turbomachinery rotor, there are small differences in the structural and/or geometrical properties of individual blades, which are referred to as blade mistuning. Mistuning effects of the forced response of bladed disks can be extremely large as often reported in many studies. In this paper, the pattern optimization of intentional mistuning for bladed disks considering with intentional mistuning intensity effect is the focus of the present investigation. More specifically, the class of intentionally mistuned disks considered here is limited, for cost reasons, to arrangements of two types of blades (A and B, say) and Genetic Algorithm is used to optimize the arrangement of these blades around the disk to reduce the forced response of blade with intentional mistuning intensity levels.

  • Purpose: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has brought the world to a standstill and has exposed the lack of preparedness of most nations' health care systems. Even in usual times, palliative care has not received its fair share of recognition as an important component of patient care; instead, the emphasis is often placed on aggressive patient management. Now, with the entire medical community and decision-making committees focussed on intensive patient care, end-of-life care has taken a backseat. Methods: This article is a brief communication. Results: COVID 19 infection has been shown to lead to greater mortality and morbidity in patients with pre-existing illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, renal failure, and cancer. Patients typically in need of end-of-life care, such as those with late-stage cancer or heart failure, are therefore at a higher risk of both contracting COVID-19 and suffering a more severe disease course. The strict nationwide lockdowns being imposed in most countries have deterred patients from seeking medical attention or hospice care. Every day new research is coming to light regarding COVID 19. This has helped significantly in creating awareness and limiting the spread of disease. However, misinformation is also rampant, leading to discrimination and mistreatment of infected patients. Conclusion: This pandemic has been a terrifying ordeal for all and has exposed our entire population physically, psychologically, emotionally, and financially to unimaginable stresses. In the present scenario, EOL care is as much a necessity as intensive care and should be given at least a fraction of its importance.

  • Generally, the AC electrified railway systems have the power quality problems that are induced from the harmonic currents and the reactive power. This paper presents a single-phase hybrid active filter adopting a SRF(synchronous-reference-frame) control for improving power quality in the AC electrified railway systems. The single-phase hybrid active filter can compensate the harmonic currents and the reactive power through the proposed SRF control algorithm. The proposed control algorithm can extract the third and fifth harmonics through the MSRF(multiple-synchronous-reference-frames) which is used to apply the three-phase systems. Therefore, the hybrid active filter can compensates only the high-frequency harmonic currents whereas the passive filter compensates the low-frequency harmonic currents. Also, the proposed SRF control algorithm can compensate the reactive power by the closed-loop control. The Validity and the effectiveness of the proposed SRF control method for the hybrid active filter are illustrated through the simulation results.

  • Damage caused by FOD which is a foreign substance at the movement area in airports around the world has reached 200 million every year. In 2000, the casualties occurred 133 people at charles de gaulle airport due to FOD. The occurrence of damage by FOD has continuously influenced in domestic also it makes equipment repair indirectly or directly. Accordingly, One of the solutions to the problem is the development of FOD automatic detection system. That is ongoing for plane movement area in airport. As the analyzed result, the military airport prefered mobile type and the civil airport prefered fixed type due to the characteristics of the operating type. In this paper, we analyzed the minimum performance specifications meeting the domestic requirements by investigating military and private FOD detection systems.

  • The VCDRO(Voltage Controlled Dielectric Resonate. Oscillator) with low phase noise is designed using nonlinear analysis, and its phase noise characteristics are compared with that of Lesson's equation. The microstripline coupled with dielectric resonator is realized as a high impedance inverter to improve the phase noise performance, and the quality factor of resonator circuit can be transferred to active device with the enhanced the loaded quality factor. The worst case and part stress analyses are achieved to obtain the high reliability of VCDRO and the reliability analysis is accomplished to estimate the probability of operation at the end of life. The developed VCDRO has the oscillating tuning factor of 0.56MHZ1V for the control voltage range of 0-l2V. This VCDRO requires the DC power of 136mW. The phase noise characteristics exhibit good performances of -94.18dBc/Hz (a)10KHz and -116.3dBc/Hz (a)100KHz. And, the output power over 7.33dBm is measured.

  • In this research, the initial sizing of a HALE(High Altitude Long Endurance) UAV which uses solar power and hydrogen fuel cell as an alternative energy was performed. Instead of a wing box type, a glider type was chosen since it is relatively easy to get a data thanks to many researches abroad. Maximum takeoff weight is around 150Kg and the propulsion system is composed of motor, propeller, solar cell, and hydrogen fuel cell which can be recharged through electrolysis. Maximum takeoff weight was estimated as aspect ratio, wing span, wing area change while considering energy balance of required energy which is necessary for flight during the entire day and available energy which can be taken from the solar cell.

  • 1. Objectives: This study was carried out to investigate the Sasang constitutional equilibrium functional difference according to drinking and smoking. 2. Methods: We analyzed the data of 300 adults(194 males, 106 females), who visited Cheonan oriental hospital of D univ. for medical examination, which includes Sasang constitution examination, equilibrium function test, questionnaire. We evaluationed the equilibrium function by measurement of open eyes and close eyes trace length, using the posturography system, according to drinking groups, smoking groups and drinking-smoking groups. 3. Results and Conclusions: The results were as follows : 1) In all subjects, trace length of heavy-drinker was significantly higher than non-drinker, trace length of smoker was significantly higher than non-smoker, trace length of drinker and smoker was significantly higher than non-drinker and non-smoker, trace length of male was significantly higher than female. 2) In Soyangin, trace length of middle-drinker was significantly higher than non-drinker. 3) In Taeumin, trace length of heavy-drinker was significantly higher than non-drinker, trace length of smoker was significantly higher than non-smoker, trace length of drinker and smoker was significantly higher than non-drinker and non-smoker. 4) In Soumin, trace length of drinker and smoker was significantly higher than non-drinker and non-smoker. The above results show that driking and smoking are one of main causes to decrease equilibrium function, specially the case of at once drinking and smoking are a potent influence. Also in Taeumin, comparing to different consitutions, the above results show that it is more obvious that drinking and smoking are influence on decrease of equilibrium function.
