발치 및 비발치 치료증례에서의 치료전후 치열궁형태의 변화에 관한 연구 (A STUDY OF THE VARIANCES IN PRE- AND POST-TREATMENT DENTAL ARCH SHAPES IN EXTRACTION AND NON-EXTRACTION CASES)

  • This study was carried out in order to findout the amount of tooth movement, the changes arch size and the changes in arch morphology following orthodontic treatment and to provide a guideline for to predict post-treatment arch morphology. The sample group for this study consists of 15 males and 22 females, totalling in 37 persons, who received orthodontic treatment at Orthodontic Department of Dankook Univ. Dental Hospital. They are classified into Extraction Class I treatment group (E I), Non-extraction Class I treatment group (N I), and Non-extraction Class III treatment group (N III), according to their pre-treatment malocclusion state and methods of treatment. Following conclusions and averaged dental arch form for each group were obtained by cephalometric linear measurements and dental arch measurements using pre- and post-treatment lateral cephalograms and plaster study models. 1. Intercanine width were reduced in max. of both EI and NI during the period of treatment, 2. Intermolar width were reduced in max. of EI and increased in max. of NI. Therefore although there was no difference between these two groups before the treatment, intermolar width of the max, of NI was wider than that of E1 after the treatment. 3. PMV-incisor distance and PMV-canine distance were decreased in both max. and mand. of EI and that of NI, during the period of treatment. PMV-molar distance was decreased in both max. and mand. of NI and in mand. of NIII. 4. Items that showed stability during the treatment were: max. & mand. PMV-molar distance, mand. intercanine and intermolar width in EI; mand. intercanine and intermolar width in NI; mand. & max. PMV-incisor distance, PMV-canine distance, max. PMV-molar distance and max. & mand. intercanine and intermolar width in NIII. 5. The differences in averaged canine and molar variances to post-treatment dental arch form were present only in EI and in NI. There was no variance between maxilla and mandible in each group.

  • Recent year, the vibration induced fatigue and noise of piping work become critical in offshore hydrocarbon production facilities with increasing requests by major oil company. In this paper, the risk base piping vibration induced fatigue assessment of NORSOK L-002 standard and UK Energy Institute guideline have been introduced with real project application practice. Also the piping breakout noise evaluation by flow restriction devices of compressible and in-compressible flow are reviewed with its practical application on real project.

  • Purpose: This research was aimed to analyze the reports of qualitative researches published in Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing (KJWHN). Methods: Twenty qualitative researches using in-depth interviews or focus groups published in KJWHN during from 2002 to 2011 were selected for analysis. Selected reports were analyzed by consolidated criteria for reporting qualitative research (COREQ), which were a reporting guideline for qualitative researches, and consisted of thirty two items and three domains, i.e., (1) research team and reflexivity, (2) study design, and (3) data analysis and reporting. Results: Personal characteristics related to credentials, gender and interviewer's bias or assumption were less reported than other items in the 1st domain. In the 2nd domain, descriptions such as a presence of non-participants, pilot test for interview guide development, and transcript return to participants were less reported than other items. In the 3rd domain, items related to number of data coder, participants checking of the finding, and clarity of minor themes were less reported than other items. Conclusion: It could be concluded that COREQ is a useful guideline for reporting of qualitative studies. From these results, we suggest that full items of COREQ should be considered and described when researchers report qualitative research.

GC-MS/MS를 이용한 한강수계 및 상수도계통에서 N-nitrosamines 조사 (Investigation of N-nitrosamines using GC-MS/MS in Han-river Water Supply Systems)

  • This study was conducted to improve the analysis method used for N-nitrosamines and to investigate the occurrences of N-nitrosamines in tributaries of the Han-river, intake stations, water treatment plants and tap water used within the city of Seoul. The samples were pretreated through a solid phase extraction and analyzed using a gas chromatography tandem mass spectrometer (GC-MS/MS). The GC-MS/MS in CI mode was compared with the GC-MS/MS in EI mode by the method detection limits (MDLs). MDLs by GC-CI/MS/MS and GC-EI/MS/MS were 0.2 ~ 1.1 ng/L and 0.2 ~ 1.4 ng/L, respectively. Samples were collected from ten tributaries of the Han-river (T1 ~ T10), six intake stations (I1 ~ I6), six water treatment plants (P1 ~ P6) and 25 taps in Seoul city. The maximum levels of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) were 0.013 μg/L, 0.008 μg/L, 0.006 μg/L and 0.002 μg/L in tributary water, raw water, finished water and tap water samples, respectively. Detected levels were much lower than 0.1 μg/L corresponding to the guideline value of WHO.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the quality of reports on observational studies published in the Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing (KJWHN). Methods: Forty-six studies using cross-sectional designs published in KJWHN from January 2011 to June 2013 were selected for analysis. Selected articles were reviewed and evaluated by three reviewers using the 22 items of the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) statement. As some of 22 items had more than one check point, further broken down, 34 checklist items were used for analysis. Results: Overall, the reviewed studies provided sufficient descriptions for many STROBE items. Seven of the 34 items were found to be not applicable, and 15 of the remaining 27 items (55.5%) were evaluated as 'sufficient' in reporting. Only one study included a flow diagram illustrating participation and this lack of flow diagram was the weakest area of reporting in this review. Conclusion: Clearer reporting of cross-sectional studies can be attained by attention to vulnerable areas of reporting, such as including a flow diagram of participants, descriptions of sources of bias and reason for non-participation, and describing limitations of the study. Issues regarding the application of STROBE statement items should be actively discussed in order to aid future revision and clarification of items included in STROBE statement.

여성건강간호학회지에 게재된 중재 연구 논문보고의 질 평가: TREND 지침에 근거하여 (The Quality of Reporting of Intervention Studies in the Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing (KJWHN): Based on the TREND Guidelines)

  • Purpose: This study was done to evaluate quality of reports of non-randomized controlled quasi-experimental study articles published in the Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing (KJWHN). Methods: A search was done for experimental studies assessing intervention effects among all articles published in the KJWHN from 2008 to 2013. Original articles were reviewed and analyzed according to the 22 checklist items of the guidelines for Transparent Reporting for Evaluations with Non-randomized Designs (TREND). Results: Thirty-five articles on experimental studies were identified. The evaluation of the quality of reporting in these experimental studies found that there was a wide variety in the level of satisfying the TREND checklist. In particular, according to TREND topics, low levels of reporting quality were found for "title & abstract (only for information on how units were allocated to the intervention)", "outcomes in methods", "assignment in methods", "blinding in methods", "recruitment in results", "baseline data in results", "interpretation in discussion (especially intervention mechanism and success or barriers), "generalizability in discussion". Conclusion: Results indicate that adherence to TREND guidelines varied in experimental studies published in the KJWHN suggesting the recommendation that for higher levels of complete reporting, TREND guidelines be used in reports on experimental studies.

이산화탄소 증가로 인한 해수 산성화가 해양생물에 미치는 영향평가 및 생태영향기준 도출 (Effect Assessment and Derivation of Ecological Effect Guideline on CO2-Induced Acidification for Marine Organisms)

  • 이산화탄소 포집 및 저장기술(CCS: Carbon dioxide Capture and Storage)은 이산화탄소($CO_2$: Carbon dioxide)를 저감하여 기후변화에 대응하는 방법의 하나로 인식되고 있다. 국내에서는 해양지중저장을 통해 $CO_2$의 영구적인 격리를 목표로 연구를 진행하고 있다. 하지만, 이론적으로 안전한 해저 지층구조에 이산화탄소를 저장한다하더라도 CCS 사업과정 또는 중장기적인 지질학적 구조 변형으로 인해 저장된 $CO_2$가 해양환경으로 누출 될 가능성이 존재하기 때문에 CCS 사업 추진과정에서 환경 및 생태계 안전에 대하여 많은 관심을 기울여야한다. 만약에 $CO_2$의 누출이 발생할 경우 일차적으로 해수 및 해양퇴적물 내 공극수의 pH를 낮추게 될 것이며, 이로 인해 해양 생물은 부정적인 영향을 받을 수 있다. 따라서 해양생태계를 보호하고 안전한 해양지중저장을 위해서는 이산화탄소에 노출된 해양생물의 영향 정도를 파악하고, 정량적인 생태위해성평가를 통해 합리적인 생태영향기준을 마련하는 것이 CCS 기술의 실용화를 위해서 매우 중요한 요소라 할 수 있다. 이러한 배경하에서 본 연구에서는 누출된 $CO_2$로부터 해양생태계 보호를 위한 생태영향기준 마련을 위해 $CO_2$ 노출에 따른 생물영향 자료를 기반으로 종민감도분포(SSD: Species Sensitivity Distribution)를 이용해 해양생물보호를 위한 pH 변화수준(${\delta}pH$)을 추정하여 정량적 생태위해성평가 기반의 잠정기준을 도출하였다. 정량적 생태위해성평가를 위한 생물영향자료는 미생물, 갑각류, 극피동물, 연체동물, 환형동물, 어류 등 다양한 해양생물에 대한 $CO_2$ 노출영향 평가연구자료를 비교 분석하여 확보하였다. 해양생물에 대한 $CO_2$ 노출영향 pH 범위는 6.61~8.22 이었으며, 수집된 자료로부터 무영향관찰농도(NOEC: No Observed Effect Concentrations)를 추정하고 종민감도분포를 이용하여 상위 95%의 생물종을 보호할 수 있는 ${\delta}pH$ 0.137을 추정하였다. 추정된 ${\delta}pH$는 불확실성을 고려하여 평가계수(assessment factor)를 이용하여 보정하거나, 보정없이 생태영향기준(pH 변화수준)으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. 다만 본 연구에 활용된 생물영향자료가 국내 서식생물 또는 $CO_2$ 저장후보지의 지역 특이적인 생물에 대한 자료가 충분하지 않아 명확한 안전수준으로 활용되기에는 제한될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 추후 생물영양단계 및 지역특이적으로 서식하는 생물에 대한 충분한 생물영향자료의 보강을 통해 이러한 단점을 보완할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
