The objective of the study is to discriminate EEG(electroencephalogram) due to emotional changes. Emotion was evoked by the series of auditory stimuli which were selected from the natural sounds in the sound effect collection of compact disc. Seventeen university students participated and experienced positive or negative emotions by six auditory stimuli with intermission between stimuli. Temporal EEG ($T_3$, $T_4$, $T_5$, and $T_6$) was recorded at the same time and a subjective test was performed on the eleven point scales after the experiment. The maximum and minimum scores of the EEG among six stimuli EEG were analyzed for discrimination of emotion. The EEG signals were transformed into feature objects based on scalar intervention model coefficients. Auditory stimulus was considered as intervention variable. They were classified by Discriminant Analysis for each channel. The features showed results with the best classification accuracy of 91.2 % in $T_4$ for auditory stimuli. This study could be extended to establish an algorithm which quantifies and classifies emotions evoked by auditory stimulus using time-series models.

In this paper, we propose a classification algorithm based on the obtained EEG(Electroencephalogram) signal for the control of 'left' and 'right' turnings of which a driving system composed of EEG sensor, Labview, DAQ, Matlab and driving robot. The proposed algorithm uses features extracted from frequency band information obtained by DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transform) and selects features of high discrimination by using Fisher score. We, also propose the number of feature vectors for the best classification performance by using SVM(Support Vector Machine) classifier and propose a decision pending algorithm based on MLD (Maximum Likelihood Decision) to prevent malfunction due to misclassification. The selected four feature vectors for the proposed algorithm are the mean of absolute value of voltage and the standard deviation of d5(2-4Hz) and d2(16-32Hz) frequency bands of P8 channel according to the international standard electrode placement method. By using the SVM classifier, we obtained 98.75% accuracy and 1.25% error rate. Also, when we specify error probability of 70% for decision pending, we obtained 95.63% accuracy and 0% error rate by using the proposed decision pending algorithm.

This study proposed and evaluated electroencephalography (EEG)-based and eye-tracking-based methods to determine relevance by utilizing users' implicit relevance feedback while navigating content in a digital library. For this, EEG/eye-tracking experiments were conducted on 32 participants using video, image, and text data. To assess the usefulness of the proposed methods, deep learning-based artificial intelligence (AI) techniques were used as a competitive benchmark. The evaluation results showed that EEG component-based methods (av_P600 and f_P3b components) demonstrated high classification accuracy in selecting relevant videos and images (faces/emotions). In contrast, AI-based methods, specifically object recognition and natural language processing, showed high classification accuracy for selecting images (objects) and texts (newspaper articles). Finally, guidelines for implementing a digital library interface based on EEG, eye-tracking, and artificial intelligence technologies have been proposed. Specifically, a system model based on implicit relevance feedback has been presented. Moreover, to enhance classification accuracy, methods suitable for each media type have been suggested, including EEG-based, eye-tracking-based, and AI-based approaches.

This study describes an emotion classification method using two different feature parameters of four-channel EEG signals. One of the parameters is linear prediction coefficients based on AR modelling. Another one is cross-correlation coefficients on frequencies of ${\theta}$, ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$ bands of FFT spectra. Using the linear predictor coefficients and the cross-correlation coefficients of frequencies, the emotion classification test for four emotions, such as anger, sad, joy, and relaxation is performed with an artificial neural network. The results of the two parameters showed that the linear prediction coefficients have produced the better results for emotion classification than the cross-correlation coefficients of FFT spectra.
This paper presents a methodology for classifying sleep disturbance using electroencephalogram (EEG) signal at sleep stage 2 and principal component analysis. For extracting initial features, fast Fourier transforms(FFT) were carried out to remove some noise from EEG signal at sleep stage 2. In the second phase, we used principal component analysis to reduction from EEG signal that was removed some noise by FFT to 5 features. In the final phase, 5 features were used as inputs of NEWFM to get performance results. The proposed methodology shows that accuracy rate, specificity rate, and sensitivity were all 100%.
The objective of this study is to extract information from electroencephalogram(EEG) signals with which we can discriminate mental states. Seven university students were participated in this study. Ten stimuli based on IAPS (International Affective Picture Systems) Were presented at random according to the experimental schedule. 8-channel ($O_1$, $O_2$, $F_3$, $F_4$, $F_7$, $F_8$, $FP_1$, and $FP_2$)EEG signals were recorded at a sampling rate of 204.8 Hz for visual stimuli and analyzed. After random ten sequential stimuli presentation, the subject subjectively assessed the stimulus by scaling from -5 to 5. If the stimulus was the best and the worst, it was scored 5 and -5, respectively. Only maximum and minimum scored-EEG signals within each subject were selected on the basis of subjectively assessment for analysis. EEG signals were transformed into feature objects based on scalar autoregressive model coefficients. They were classified with Discriminant Analysis for each channel. The features produced results with the best classification accuracy of 85.7 % in $O_1$ and $O_2$ for visual stimuli. This study could be extended to establish an algorithm which quantify and classify emotions evoked by visual stimulus using autoregressive models.
The sleep stages provides the most basic evidence for diagnosing a variety of sleep diseases. for staging sleep by analysis of EEG(electroencephalogram), it is especially important to detect the characteristic waveforms from EEG. In this paper, sleep EEG signals were analyzed using Fourier transform and continuous wavelet transform as well as discrete wavelet transform. Proposeed system methods. Fourier and wavelet for detecting of important characteristic waves(hump, sleep spindles. K-complex, hill wave, ripple wave) in sleep EEG. Sleep EEG data were analysed using Daubechies wavelet transform method and FFT method. As a result of simulation, we suggest that our neural network system attain high performance in classification of characteristic waves.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the use of the Deep Neural Networks(DNN) model to classify user's emotions, in particular Electroencephalography(EEG) toward Virtual-Reality(VR) based 3D design alternatives. Four different types of VR Space were constructed to measure a user's emotion and EEG was measured for each stimulus. In addition to the quantitative evaluation based on EEG data, a questionnaire was conducted to qualitatively check whether there is a difference between VR stimuli. As a result, there is a significant difference between plan types according to the normalized ranking method. Therefore, the value of the subjective questionnaire was used as labeling data and collected EEG data was used for a feature value in the DNN model. Google TensorFlow was used to build and train the model. The accuracy of the developed model was 98.9%, which is higher than in previous studies. This indicates that there is a possibility of VR and Fast Fourier Transform(FFT) processing would affect the accuracy of the model, which means that it is possible to classify a user's emotions toward VR based 3D design alternatives by measuring the EEG with this model.
In this paper, we propose an EEG-based mental state prediction method during a mental tasks. In the experimental task, a subject goes through the process of responding to visual stimulus, understanding the given problem, controlling hand motions, and hitting a key. Considering the subject's varying brain activities, we model subjects' mental states with defining selection time. EEG signals from four subjects were recorded while they performed three mental tasks. Feature vectors defined by these representations were classified with a standard, feed-forward neural network trained via the error back-propagation algorithm. We expect that the proposed detection method can be a basic technology for brain-computer interface by combining with left/right hand movement or cognitive decision discrimination methods.

This paper describes a technique for human sensibility evaluation using 10-channel EEG(electroencephalogram). The proposed method uses the linear predictor coefficients as EEG feature parameters and a neural network as sensibility pattern classifier. For subject independent system, multiple templates are stored and the most similar template can be selected. EEG signals corresponding to 4 emotions such as, relaxation, joy, sadness and anger are collected from 5 armature performers. The states of relaxation and joy are considered as positive sensibility and those of sadness and anger as negative. The classification performance using the proposed method is about 72.6%. This will be promising performance in the human sensibility evaluation.
