현장질병가이드.산란저하증후군 - 질병발생주의보! 산란저하증후군(Egg Drop Syndrom '76 : EDS '76)

  • 산란중인 계군이 별다른 원인 없이 한동안 산란저하가 발생하고 있다면 한번쯤은 산란저하증후군(EDS'76)을 의심해봐야한다. 일반적으로 농장에서 산란이 개시되기 전 산란저하증후군(EDS'76)에 대한 백신접종을 실시하면 본 질병을 의심하지 않아도 된다. 몇 년 전 일부지역에서 EDS'76이 발생한 사례가 있어 본소에 보관되어 있는 농장들의 혈청을 꺼내어 혈액응집억제반응(HI) 검사를 실시해 본 결과 다행히 감염역가가 나타나지 않았다. 그래서 국내 일부지역에 발생하고 있는 EDS'76의 발병을 예방하기 위하여 EDS'76 백신을 실시하지 않고 있던 농장들에게 일제히 백신접종을 권하여 대부분의 농장들이 최근까지 추가 피해를 경험하지 않고 있다. 그러나 EDS'76 백신(BNE 혹은 BBNE)을 실시하지 않은 계군은 언제라도 EDS'76에 감염될 수 있으므로 각별히 주의하여야 한다. 한동안 EDS'76은 국내에서 발병이 확인되지 않아 근절된 질병으로 간주되었었다. 그러나 최근 몇 년간 간간히 EDS'76의 발생이 확인되고 있으므로 농장은 결코 EDS'76에 대해 방심해서는 안된다. EDS'76은 산란계에 있어서 매우 치명적인 질병이다. 특히 케이지 사육을 하는 계군은 질병의 경과가 매우 느리고 특징적인 임상증상이 없는 것 때문에 질병피해가 커지기 쉽다. EDS'76의 특징과 발병사례를 간단히 소개하기로 한다.

EDS(Event Driven Service) 시스템 구조에 관한 연구 (A Study on Architecture of Event Driven Service System)

  • EDS is a typical convergence service performing convergence between functions owned by multiple SPs. EDS provides users with the relevant information and the communication by the various personal conditional environment. An alternative terminology for events for net- work related applications is 'triggers'-these are assumed to be included in the present description. Events could be defined as any activities which occur within a service avail ability, signals. Events can be managed, for example, as part of a context-aware application. EDS carry out a procedure for processing user's requested information about mobil network-based entities, such as the combination with various applications, such as a LBS (Location Based Service) and area information. In AS (Application Service) network environments, the user has his customized EDS in the network, the EDS automatically connects the appropriate Terminals consistent with a user profile. EDS can also send the collected information to other requesting users by way of event information and using the procedures of combination with other services. The user can record/retrieve the user-related information to from the information base through EDS.

Resistance to local anesthesia in people with the Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes presenting for dental surgery

  • Background: People with the Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS), a group of heritable disorders of connective tissue, often report experiencing dental procedure pain despite local anesthetic (LA) use. Clinicians have been uncertain how to interpret this apparent LA resistance, as comparison of EDS and non-EDS patient experience is limited to anecdotal evidence and small case series. The primary goal of this hypothesis-generating study was to investigate the recalled adequacy of pain prevention with LA administered during dental procedures in a large cohort of people with and without EDS. A secondary exploratory aim asked people with EDS to recall comparative LA experiences. Methods: We administered an online survey through various social media platforms to people with EDS and their friends without EDS, asking about past dental procedures, LA exposures, and the adequacy of procedure pain prevention. Among EDS respondents who both received LA and recalled the specific LA used, we compared agent-specific pain prevention for lidocaine, procaine, bupivacaine, mepivacaine, and articaine. Results: Among the 980 EDS respondents who had undergone a dental procedure LA, 88% (n = 860) recalled inadequate pain prevention. Among 249 non EDS respondents only 33% (n = 83) recalled inadequate pain prevention (P < 0.001 compared to EDS respondents). The agent with the highest EDS-respondent reported success rate was articaine (30%), followed by bupivacaine (25%), and mepivacaine (22%). Conclusions: EDS survey respondents reported nearly three times the rate of LA non-response compared to non-EDS respondents, suggesting that LAs were less effective in preventing their pain associated with routine office dental procedures.

  • Nowadays, mankind is suffering from serious pollutions. In proportion to industrial modernization, polltional problems have been increased and arised new one endlessly. Todays, we are cope with a newkind pollution materials threatening the life of mankind with root out. It is Environmental Hormon, that is, Endocrine Disrupting Chemical(EDs). EDs was made by dioxin, PCB, DDT, cadmium, lead, ether and even diethylstillbestrol(DES) that used to contraceptive pill etc. These EDs makes changing from normal human hormon to abnormal one and it kill off or fade out spermatozoa. Then the spermatozoa was infected with EDs makes man imposex, sexual malformations and infertility also. It is the more critical phenomenons that EDs invade into the field of wild-life; birds, invertebrate animals, fishes, mammalia especially. England TV(BBC) journalist Cadury, D. introduced a lot of case studies that many kind of male animals was changed feminization by EDs in her book (The Feminization of Nature;1997). Otherwise, Gibbs, P.E. and Bryan, G. W. reported about dog-whelk snail (a sort of sea shell) was changed gender from male to female by EDs in their study. Briefly speaking, Environmental Hormon (EDs) stem from polluted materials maloperate human and animal informational codes of hormon. It is a significant event to an individual ontogeny and ecological system. To overcome these problem WHO, OECD, UNEP held many work-shops, international seminars and researches but it is not enough yet. On May of 1997, the International Meeting of Environmental Administrators makes a $\ulcorner$Declaration on EDs Problems$\lrcorner$ for solving it fortunately and NHK(japan) reported Super Critical Fluid as a new materials for decrease toxicity of dioxin in recent.   • In this paper, we propose an adaptive beamforming algorithm for array antenna. The proposed beamforming algorithm is based on EDS (Euclidean Direction Search) algorithm. Generally LMS algorithm has a much slower rate of convergence, but its low computational complexity and robustness make it a representative method of adaptive beamforming. Although the RLS algorithm is known for its fast convergence to the optimal Wiener solution, it still suffers from high computational complexity and poor performance. The proposed EDS algorithm has a rapid convergence better than LMS algorithm, and has a computational more simple complexity than RLS algorithm. In this paper we compared the efficiency of the EDS algorithm with a standard LMS algorithm.

Effects of Viability of Canine Oocytes Vitrified-Warmed by the EDS and EDT Methods

  • In the present studies, we have intended to compare the EDS (20% EG + 20% DMSO + 0.4 M sucrose + 10% FCS) and EDT (20% EG + 20% DMSO + 0.3 M trehalose 10% FCS) methods for vitrification of canine oocytes, in order to improve the vitrification methods. The survival rate of vitrified-thawed oocytes using the EDS method was $15.1{\pm}1.8%$ (p<0.05), which was lower than that of the control group $(66.7{\pm}2.5%)$. About $45{\sim}55%$ of the vitrified-warmed oocytes showed normal morphology, as assessed by PI staining. However, the ratio of survival rate of oocytes showed lower than that of normal morphology in comparison between EDS method and control group. The survival and developmental rates of vitrified-warmed oocytes by the EDS and EDT methods were $16.7{\pm}1.4%\;and\;11.1{\pm}0.8%$ and $8.3{\pm}1.4%\;and\;4.4{\pm}1.8%$, respectively (p<0.05). The results were significantly lower than the control group $(66.7{\pm}2.5%\;and\;16.7{\pm}3.7%)$. However, the survival rate of vitrified-warmed oocytes using EDS method showed higher than that in the ETS group.

Misexpression of AtTX12 encoding a Toll/interleukin-1 receptor domain induces growth defects and expression of defense-related genes partially independently of EDS1 in Arabidopsis

  • In this study, a tissue-specific GAL4/UAS activation tagging system was used for the characterization of genes which could induce lethality when ubiquitously expressed. A dominant mutant exhibiting stunted growth was isolated and named defective root development 1-D (drd1-D). The T-DNA tag was located within the promoter region of AtTX12, which is predicted to encode a truncated nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat (NLR) protein, containing a Toll/interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domain. The transcript levels of AtTX12 and defense-related genes were elevated in drd1-D, and the misexpression of AtTX12 recapitulated the drd1-D phenotypes. In the presence of ENHANCED DISEASE SUSCEPTIBILITY 1 (EDS1), a key transducer of signals triggered by TIR-type NLRs, a low-level of AtTX12 misexpression induced strong defective phenotypes including seedling lethality whereas, in the absence of EDS1, a high-level of AtTX12 misexpression induced weak growth defects like dwarfism, suggesting that AtTX12 might function mainly in an EDS1-dependent and partially in an EDS1-independent manner.

대학생의 수면양상과 주간졸음증에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Sleep Patterns and Factors Associated with Excessive Daytime Sleepiness in University Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate sleep patterns and predictors of excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) in university students. Methods: Participants were 120 university students who were attending two universities in S-city and C-city. Data were collected from May 20 to June 15, 2012 using self-report questionnaires which included Johns' Epworth Sleepiness Scale, Yi's Sleep Quality Scale, and Beck Depression Inventory. Data were digitalized and analyzed using frequency, percentages, means and standard deviations, Wilcoxon rank sum test, Chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, and multiple logistic regression with SAS 9.0. Results: Mean total sleep time was 6.6 hours on weekdays, 8.1 hours on weekends. Mean sleep latency was 19.1 minutes and the score for mean sleep quality was 22.6. Prevalence of EDS was 12.5%. Depression was significantly different between EDS and Non-EDS students (t=2.17, p=.030). Multiple logistic regression showed that the only factor associated with EDS was depression (adjusted odds ratio of depression=5.33, 95% Confidence Interval=1.49-19.04). Conclusion: Results of this study indicate that university students experience short sleep time, low sleep quality, and common EDS with depression, suggesting that students with complaints of EDS should be completely assessed for depression as well as sleep problems.

여론 주도 집단의 환경보건 위해물질에 대한 인식도와 그 관리 정책에 관한 연구 -유전자재조합식품과 내분비계 장애물질을 중심으로 (Perceptions of Opinion Leaders on Environmental Health Hazards and their Management Policies in Korea -Focusing on the Genetically Modified Organisms and Endocrine Disruptors)

  • This study was performed to investigate the perceptions of the opinion leaders, such as government officials, researchers, NGO workers, and journalists on the risks of endocrine disrupters (EDs) and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) as well as the related policies on these two hazards or potential hazards. The opinion leaders generally considered the EDs as the most serious hazard among twenty-one environmental health hazards in Korea, and agreed that the EDs would continuously be the most serious hazard. On overall average, the GMOs were ranked the 11th among the twenty-one health hazards. Further investigation indicated that the GMOs were variously ranked by the group of respondents: they were ranked the 2nd by the NGO workers, the 7th by the journalists, the 9th by the researchers and the 11th by the government officials. In general, the respondents considered the dioxin as a hazard with the highest risk while the GMOs were considered less hazardous. The opinion leaders considered that although the risks of the GMOs and EDs were not fully verified, the risks should be controlled through the legislation. The EDs and GMOs should be separately regulated for the time being, while the EDs should put under more strengthened regulation. It is recommended that a web-site containing the information on the EDs and the GMOs be prepared for the journalists. In addition, a training program in relation to the EDs and the GMOs needs to be organized by the Korean Press Foundation and the Korea Food and Drug Administration to educate the journalists. A committee consisting of government officials, scientists, and NGO workers needs to be established, and it should provide framework of future policies and public relations programs.

흰쥐 부정소 내의 스테로이드 호르몬 수용체, $5{\alpha}$-reductase 그리고 Aromatase 발현에 미치는 EDS의 영향 (Effect of Ethane 1,2-Dimethane Sulfonate(EDS) on the Expression of Steroid Hormone Receptors, $5{\alpha}$-reductase and Aromatase in the Rat Epididymis)

  • Ethane 1,2-dimethane sulfonate(EDS)는 Leydig 세포의 선별적 사멸을 유도하는 약물로서 가역적인 테스토스테론 결핍 흰쥐를 만드는데 널리 사용된다. 부정소의 구조와 기능 유지는 크게 보아 정소에서 분비되는 테스토스테론에 의존적이지만, 테스토스테론으로부터 유도되는 dihydroxytestosterone(DHT)와 에스트로겐도 중요한 역할을 한다. 본 연구에서는 EDS 주사 후 7주까지 부정소에서의 스테로이드 호르몬 수용체, cyctochrome P450aromatase(P450arom)와 $5{\alpha}$-reductase의 유전자 발현 양상을 조사하였다. 성숙한 수컷 흰쥐($350{\sim}400\;g$)에 EDS를 1회 복강 주사하고(75 mg/kg i.p.) 주사 후 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7주가 경과한 날에 희생하였다. 표적 유전자들의 전사 활성은 반 정량적 역전사 중합효소 반응법(semi-quantitative RT-PCRs)으로 측정하였다. Estrogen receptor alpha($ER{\alpha}$) 전사 수준은 EDS 실험군에서 대조군에 비해 주사 1주후에 유의하게 상승했으나(P<0.01) 2주 후부터는 대조군과 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았다. Estrogen receptor beta($ER{\beta}$)의 전사 수준은 주사 1주후 EDS 실험군에서 대조군에 비해 유의하게 증가했다가(P<0.05), 2주와 3주에는 감소하였고(P<0.05와 P<0.01), 4주와 6주까지는 변동폭을 보이다가 7주 후에는 대조군에 비해 증가하였다(P<0.05). Androgen receptor(AR) 전사 수준은 주사 2주 후에 유의하게 증가하다가(P<0.01) 3주 후부터는 대조군 수준으로 회복하였다. 반면, P450arom는 주사 1주 후부터 3주까지 급격하게 감소했다가(P<0.01 1주와 2주; P<0.05 3주), 4주에 대조군 수준으로 회복하였다. $5{\alpha}$-reductase type 2($5{\alpha}$-RT2)의 mRNA 수준은 4주 후 유의하게 증가했다가(P<0.01), 이후 대조군 수준으로 회복하였다. 본 연구는 EDS 주사가 성 스테로이드 호르몬 수용체들과 안드로겐 전환 효소들의 전사 활성에 가역적인 변화를 유도함을 보여준 것이다. EDS 주사 모델은 부정소의 생리 조절 기작을 이해하는데 유용할 것으로 사료된다.
