Orientation and International Strategies for the East Asian Journal of Business Economics

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study was to review and analyze EAJBE (The East Asian Journal of Business Economics) of EABEA (The East Asia Business Economics Association) and all of their published articles of 2013 to 2017 and to revise and update the existing publication standards and practices in order to improve the overall quality and reputation of EAJBE. Research design, data, and methodology - This paper applied an analytical approach, a case study method, to analyze and examine the published articles and the publication standards and practices of EAJBE (East Asian Journal of Business Economics) from their first publication. Results - The EAJBE has been issuing academic journals four times a year since its foundation. Although it is a journal based in Korea, overseas scholars publish articles steadily compared to other academic journals and the EAJBE raises the level of globalization. The level of internationalization of association's management and editorial members is also high, making the overall academic journal more cosmopolitan. Conclusions - Although the EABEA (The East Asia Business Economics Association) is a newly formed, the association is actively managing the academic community and making two major goals for the development of the academic journal. First, this journal is actively attracting overseas scholars, and is raising the level of internationalization. As an integrated academic conference is held with overseas scholars, they actively exchange with overseas scholars by contributing and publishing their papers. Second, it is seeking to establish national and international ties by publishing the papers of Korean scholars as well as abroad and holding academic contests regularly.

  • Purpose: This paper is to review and analyze development strategy of the East Asian Journal of Business Economics and to look at the previous and current changed publication system and process in order to step up the article quality of EAJBE. Research design, data and methodology: This study grasped the current status and strategy of this journal through literature review. In addition, through the case of EAJBE, the internationalization strategy and research ethics policy of this journal were analyzed. Results: EAJBE clarifies the copyright delegation procedure of the final publication paper. Regarding compliance with research ethics, Editor-in-Chief and Management Editor are completing research ethics training. From 2017 to the present, Editor-in-Chief and Management Editor have completed online ethics training and hold certificates of completion. Conclusions: EAJBE specifies the rules for exclusion of examination by the contributor and the examiner belonging to the same institution and actually operates in this way. Currently, by using the Jams system, the plagiarism verification procedure is operated using the thesis plagiarism prevention system. Finally, in order to strengthen research ethics standards, EAJBE is trying to establish and strengthen a verification system for each paper using the system of the Korea Research Foundation, not the previous foreign paid plagiarism system.

  • Purpose: This study is to review and analyze orientation and strategy of the East Asian Journal of Business Economics and all of the published articles of 2013 to 2020 and to investigate the previous publication system and process in order to enhance the general quality of EAJBE. Research design, data and methodology: This paper applied a case study method and analyzed the previous published articles and system including homepage of East Asian Journal of Business Economics. Results: This journal strives to be the most globalized than other domestic journals in the field of management/economy, and since its inception in 2013, all the papers is written in English, and more than 40% of the contributors are overseas contributors, so it is developed by global strategies in a different direction from other domestic journals. Conclusions: The EAJBE provides the full text of the contributors' research ethics regulations to the online system, and mandates researchers to submit a pledge from the stage of the contribution. The journal provides clear criteria such as self-plagiarism and duplicates publication, and specifies the copyright agreement and submission application twice, and guides the contributors and the reviewers to use the system in advance.

  • Purpose: EAJBE is actively responding to changes in academic paradigms at domestic and abroad and is carrying out measures to maximize synergy effects between academic fields with the goal of being at the world level. This study aims to present a developmental strategy for EAJBE to grow into an academic journal with international public trust and prepare for future changes. Research design, data and methodology: This paper identifies the current status from the first issue of EAJBE to the present, and analyzes the overall development strategy and direction. Results: EAJBE continues to strengthen long-term investment for internationalization and activities to attract members of excellent scholars. Specifically, first of all, EAJBE aims to operate responsible academic journals, such as guaranteeing the long term of the president of the academic society, the chairman of the editorial board, and the editor-in-chief. EAJBE also focuses on expanding investment for internationalization from a long-term perspective. Finally, EAJBE actively strives for academic exchanges between scholars abroad and at home. Conclusions: EAJBE was indexed in the KCI of the Korea Research Foundation and currently operates a rigorous academic journal to be indexed in the SCOPUS. Already, EAJBE is doing its best to become a successful model for Korean academic journals. EAJBE's path forward will be the first one that no academic society has ever reached as the world's top academic journal.

  • This study bridges the gap between management accounting, CG and entrepreneurship disciplines. Unlike previous studies, this study adopts a positivist approach to develop a contingency framework of CG that operationalises the conformance and performance dimensions into measurable constructs. The contingency framework also adopts a holistic approach that investigates the interrelationships between VBM, CG and CE, as important predictors of organizational performance, which can provide insights into the complementary or conflicting relationships among these predictors in their effects on organizational performance.

  • Persuasive emotion advertising has great effect on attention and motivation. The using of negative emotions has been an interest in consumer psychology and advertising. This is because emotions place impact on consumers, attention and decision making. Emotions are also believed to cretin evoke brand name from memory. This paper presents the evidence for the impact of negative emotions by comparing then greater with positive emotions advertising.

  • Purpose - This study aims to analyze PASECO's environment and strategies during its advance into the Middle East to find out the success factors of the kerosene heater market and provide strategic implications for small and medium enterprises' growth based on these factors. Research design and methodology - This study analyzes the success factors of companies operating in the Middle East. As a case analysis study, the method of research analyzes case enterprises through existing literature, newspaper articles, and corporate interview materials. Results - PASECO's success was shown by its high technological power in kerosene heater products, understanding customers' needs, understanding the Middle East market and localization strategy. Conclusions - PASECO has been constantly developing R&D capability to secure competitive products and has released localized products to enhance the satisfaction of its customers in the Middle East and has also been successful by constantly creating new opportunities. The firm's success strategies provide implications for small and medium-sized businesses for greater growth.

Comparative Study of Korean and Chinese University Students' Economics and Business Literacy

  • Purpose - This study attempts a multifaceted analysis utilizing the Chinese test takers' results of the Economy & Business Aptitude Test. Since Chinese students study socialist theories of economics along with market-based ones, comparing Chinese university students' basic knowledge of economics and business and its application to those of Korean test takers is also very meaningful from the perspective of economics education research. Research design, data, and methodology - This study investigates the results on the test of economy and business understanding between Korea and China. For comparison of the result, we conducted MK-TEST for two universities in China. Result - This study finds that the average correct answer rate of Korea is higher than one of China according to the overall results. The average difference rate is about 15% between Korea and China. More concretely, the correct answer rate of business area is higher than one of economy area, identifying them by subject area. Conclusion - According to the results, this study can infer that there are no or little differences in the ability of examinee to solve applied questions between Korea and China and the differences of the scope and emphasis point in an academic curriculum between both countries might bring these kinds of results. Finally, Chinese students shows higher correct answer rate to the questions about the economy issues and policies related to China than one of Korea examinee.

  • The main purpose of this study intends to study the theoretical interconnection between human response capability and customer relationship management advantage while considering the essential role of service application of information technology as direct, indirect (mediating), and interactive (moderating) influences in the theory. Based on the study sample, the new findings help comprehend the overall interconnected relationship which includes the direct and indirect (mediating) effects of information technology service capability and human response capability as well as their interaction (moderation) on customer relationship management advantage. The new insights interprets the two capabilities (human and information technology) are vital to business because they are the foundation set of service resources significantly to enhance customer relationship management advantage.
