Purpose : To evaluate the radiographic change of operation sites after orthognathic surgery using the digital image processing and fractal analysis. Materials and Methods : A series of panoramic radiographs of thirty-five randomly selected patients who had undergone mandibular orthognathic surgery (bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy) without clinical complication for osseous healing, were taken. The panoramic radiographs of each selected patient were taken at pre-operation (stage 0), 1 or 2 days after operation (stage 1), 1 month after operation (stage 2), 6 months after operation (stage 3), and 12 months after operation (stage 4). The radiographs were digitized at 600 dpi, 8 bit, and 256 gray levels. The region of interest, centered on the bony gap area of the operation site, was selected and the fractal dimension was calculated by using the tile-counting method. The mean values and standard deviations of fractal dimension for each stage were calculated and the differences among stage 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 were evaluated through repeated measures of the ANOVA and paired t-test. Results : The mean values and standard deviations of the fractal dimensions obtained from stage 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 1.658±0.048, 1.580±0.050, 1.607±0.046, 1.624±0.049, and 1.641 ±0.061, respectively. The fractal dimensions from stage 1 to stage 4 were shown to have a tendency to increase (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The tendency of the fractal dimesion to increase relative to healing time may be a useful means of evaluating post-operative bony healing of the osteotomy site.

The Stage-Gate is a market-oriented model that aims to launch new products on the market. Therefore, it can be appropriately introduced and applied to the operation and management of NSSCP, which is undergoing demonstration projects for Daegu and Siheung. In addition, smart cities have the characteristics of convergence and complex among various innovative technologies. When the Stage-Gate is introduced, the performance can be managed centering on the outcomes for each research institution. Therefore, the NSSCP is applying the Stage-Gate for the first time among national R&D projects to improve the quality of the research results and to demonstrate and commercialize them successfully. This paper reviews the operation results of the 1st and 2nd years when the State-Gate was introduced and analyzes the opinions of an R&D management agency, research institutes, and gate reviewers to present the supplementary and improvements for applying to the evaluation process for the next year. When operating the Stage-Gate by optimizing the situation for each project and being wary of inefficiencies caused by the rigid operation, it is expected that flexible evaluation for each outcome will be possible according to the convergence characteristics of smart cities.
Finite element (FE) model updating is a useful tool for global damage detection technique, which identifies the damage of the structure using measured vibration data. This paper presents the application of a finite element model updating method to detect the damage of a small-scale reinforced concrete building structure using measured acceleration data from shaking table tests. An iterative FE model updating strategy using the least-squares solution based on sensitivity of frequency response functions and natural frequencies was provided. In addition, a side constraint to mitigate numerical difficulties associated with ill-conditioning was described. The test structure was subjected to six El Centro 1942 ground motion histories with different Peak Ground Accelerations (PGA) ranging from 0.06 g to 0.5 g, and analytical models corresponding to each stage of the shaking were obtained using the model updating method. Flexural stiffness values of the structural members were chosen as the updating parameters. In model updating at each stage of shaking, the initial values of the parameter were set to those obtained from the previous stage. Severity of damage at each stage of shaking was determined from the change of the updated stiffness values. Results indicated that larger reductions in stiffness values occurred at the slab members than at the wall members, and this was consistent with the observed damage pattern of the test structure.
This paper presents a construction method of logic-based switching control system which operates in widely changing environments. The logic-based switching controller is composed of a family of candidate controllers together with a supervisor. The system does not require any identification schemes of environments. Switching from one candidate controller to another is carried out based on monitoring the output of the system. The basic ideas of adaptation are as follows: (1)each candidate controller is prepared for each environment in advance; (2)the supervisor applies a sequence of speculative controls to a plant with candidate controllers just after the control has started and just after the change of the environment has been detected. It is important that each candidate controller can keep the system stable during a sequence of speculative controls, and the most appropriate candidate controller for the environment to which the system is exposed can be selected before the last speculative control is ended. An application to an antiskid braking system clarifies the effectiveness of the proposed method.
We consider a reverse logistics network design problem for recycling. The problem consists of three stages of transportation. In the first stage products are transported from retrieval centers to disassembly centers. In the second stage disassembled modules are transported from disassembly centers to processing centers. Finally, in the third stage modules are transported from either processing centers or a supplier to a manufacturer, a recycling site, or a disposal site. The objective is to design a network which minimizes the total transportation cost. We design a cooperative coevolutionary algorithm to solve the problem. First, the problem is decomposed into three subproblems each of which corresponds to a stage of transportation. For subproblems 1 and 2, a population of chromosomes is constructed. Each chromosome in the population is coded as a permutation of integers and an algorithm which decodes a chromosome is suggested. For subproblem 3, an heuristic algorithm is utilized. Then, a performance evaluation procedure is suggested which combines the chromosomes from each of two populations and the heuristic algorithm for subproblem 3. An experiment was carried out using test problems. The experiments showed that the cooperative coevolutionary algorithm generally tends to show better performances than the previous genetic algorithm as the problem size gets larger.

This paper considers a scheduling problem to minimize the total weighted completion time in the two-stage assembly-type flowshop. The system is composed of multiple fabrication machines in the first stage and a final-assembly machine in the second stage. Each job consists of multiple components, each component is machined on the fabrication machine specified in advance. The manufactured components of each job are subsequently assembled into a final product on the final-assembly machine. The objective of this paper is to find the optimal schedule minimizing the total weighted completion time of jobs. Three lower bounds are derived and tested in a branch-and-bound (B&B) Procedure. Also, three heuristic algorithms are developed based on the greedy strategies. Computational results show that the proposed B&B procedure is more efficient than the previous work which has considered the same problem as this paper.
This study examined the different meal duration expectations and dining characteristics of customers each stage of service (order, cook, check), and investigated the impact of perceived meal duration on customers' satisfaction. The procedures consisted of four phases. During the first phase, the different meal duration expectations and dining characteristics of customers of an Italian restaurant in Seoul were examined by survey at each stage of service. The second phase investigated the impact of perceived meal duration on customer' satisfaction. The third phase compared perceived meal duration and actual meal duration. The last phase suggested appropriate meal duration for maximization of customer' satisfaction. We also examined the effects of meal time (lunch or dinner) on meal duration preferences. Customer satisfaction was decreased with longer perceived meal duration for the order and check stages and too short perceived meal duration for the cook stage. To determine appropriate meal duration for each service stage, the relationship between perceived and actual meal durations was examined. This study confirms that customers dining at restaurants preferred a longer cook time and that a shorter meal duration at dinner decreased satisfaction ratings more when compared to lunch.
The purpose of the study was to apply and to expand the six sigma to reduce waiting times for computed tomography (CT) examination which manipulated by the department of radiology. It was preceded by DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control). In the stage of definition, it wereselected for total 5 critical to quality (CTQ), which were the kindness, the waiting time, the examination explanation, the waiting day and the waiting stand environment, that increased the reserved time of CT examination. In the stage of measurement, the number of examinations and of reservation waiting days performed and resulted in final CTQ(Y) which measured each 1.68 and 1.85 sigma. In the stage of analysis, the examination concentrated on morning time, non-scheduled examination of the day, the delayed time of booking, frequent telephone contacting and equipment malfunction were determined as variable key causes. In the stage of improvement, it were performed with expansion of the examination in the morning time, integration of laboratories that used to in each steps, developing the ability of simultaneous booking schedule for the multiple examinations, developing program of examination request, and the customer management team operations. For the control, the number of examinations and reserved waiting days were measured each 3.14 and 1.13 sigma.

This paper studies a novel method to find the profit-maximizing Nash Equilibriums in allocating generation quantities with consideration of ramp-rates under competitive market environment. Each GenCo in a market participates in a game to maximize its profit through competitions and play a game with bidding strategies. In order to find the Nash equilibriums it is necessary to search the feasible combinations of GenCos' strategies which satisfy every participant's profit and no one wants various constraints. During the procedure to find Nash equilibriums, the payoff matrix can be simplified as eliminating the dominated strategies. in each time interval. Because of the ramp-rate, generator's physically or technically limits to increase or decrease outputs in its range, it can restrict the number of bidding strategies of each generator at the next stage. So in this paper, we found the Nash Equilibriums for multi-stage generation allocation game considering the ramp-rate limits of generators. In the case studies, we analyzed the generation allocation game for a 12-hour multi-stage and compared it with the results of dynamic economic dispatch. Both of the two cases were considered generator's ramp-rate effects.

Purpose: The most important thing in curing Malignant melanoma is surgical excision, operating method is wide excision. The author et al. studied 5-year survival rate of each stage and appropriate surgical margin after operating wide excision and immuno-chemotherapy. Materials and methods: From March 1995 to August 2003, wide excision and immunochemotherapy were operated to 35 patients (17 males and 18 females) who were diagnosed as malignant melanoma and followed up. Excision was done around 2 cm from edge of tumor regardless of the size or effected degree of the skin, and flap or full thickness skin graft was used for skin deficit that was not covered after excision. As for immuno-chemotherapy, method that prescribes 400 mg of dacarbazine (DTIC) and 3 million IU of interferone-${\alpha}$ in combination was used. Immuno-chemotherapy was operated to patients in over stage III. We used AJCC stage that was revised in 2002. Local recurrence, local metastasis and distant metastasis were investigated for these patients as well as the 5-year survival rate of each stage. Results: Most frequently 15 cases(42.8%) occurred in foot, 5 cases(14.2%) occured in ankle, 2 cases(5.7%) in leg, 2 cases(5.7%) in thigh and 5 cases(14.2%) in hand. The incidence of each stage were 8 cases(22.8%) in IA, 9 cases(25.7 %) in IB, 4 cases(11.4%) in IIA, 2 cases(5.7%) in IIB, 1 cases(2.8%) in IIIA, 2 cases(5.7%) in IIIB, 2 cases(5.7%) in IIIC and 7 cases(20.0%) in stage IV. 5-year survival rate of each stage were 94.1% in stage I, 66.8% in stage II, 40% in stage III and 14.3% in stage IV. Conclusion: 5-year survival rate of stage IV was low in malignant melanoma. In treatment of malignant melanoma, staging before operation is important as operation methods are different from each stage. We recommend wide excision which remove around 1~3 cm from margin of tumor up to each thickness.
