Ion permeation in polyethylene and ethyene-based copolymers has been investigat-ed Ions permeate faster through non-crosslink-ed films than through crosslinked films. which can be attributed to the decreased chain flexibility and free volume by crosslinking reaction, In EVA/EAA and EVA/ionomer blends, diffusion coefficients of ion decrease with the increase of EAA and ionomer content This was attributed to the increas of acid group acting as ion trapping site in the blends

This experiment was conducted to examine the effects of different carbohydrate and nitrogen source upon the utilization of amino acids in the small intestine of sheep. The results obtained are as follows: 1) For the quantities of total amino acid-N(TAA-N), essential amino acid-N(EAA-N) and nonessential amino acid-N(NEAA-N) passing at the duodenum and ileum except NEAA-N passing at the ileum were no significant differences (p>0.05) between diets. The quantities of NEAA-N passing at the ileum for the diets containing meat and bone meal were significantly higher (p>0.05) than the diets containing soybean meal. The mean values for the proportionate disappearance apparently digested TAA-N, EAA-N and NEAA-N within the small intestine for four diets were $0.692{\pm}0.0449$, $0.702{\pm}0.0132$ and $0.682{\pm}0.726$, respectively. 2) There were no significant differences (p>0.05) in duodenal individual amino acid flow between diets with the exception of aspartic acid and glycine. The amounts of each amino acid in duodenal digesta, expressed as a proportion of the amounts ingested for the four diets, were shown that there were net gains of EAA with the exception of arginine and NEAA with the exception of glutamic acid, glycine and praline prior to the small intestine. 3) Within the small intestine, there were no significant losses of each EAA (p>0.05) but significant losses of aspartic acid and glycine of NEAA between diets (p<0.01). The mean values of the proportionate losses of methionine, alanine and lysine within the small intestine were $0.816{\pm}0.04$, $0.767{\pm}0.04$ and $0.732{\pm}0.01$, respectively.
Ionomer is a thermoplastic that is composed of covalent bonds and ionic bonds. It is possible to use this material in processes such as injection molding or extrusion molding due to the material's high oil resistance, weatherproof characteristics, and shock resistance. In this study, a new ionomer having a multifunctional group was prepared by a stepwise neutralization system with the addition of acidic and salt additives. In step I, to increase the contents of the multifunctional group and the acid degree in ethylene acrylic acid (EAA), MGA was added to the ionomer resin (EAA). A new ionomer was prepared via the traditional preparation method of the ionic cross-linking process. In step II, metal salt was added to the mixture of EAA and MGA. The extrusion process was performed using a twin extruder (L/D = 40, size : ${\varphi}30$). Ionomer film was prepared for evaluation of gas permeability by using the compression molding process. The degree of neutralized and ionic cross-linked new ionomer was confirmed by FT-IR and XRD analysis. In order to estimate the neutralization of the new ionomer film, various properties such as gas permeation and mechanical properties were measured. The physical strength and anti-scratch property of the new ionomer were improved with increase of the neutralization degree. The gas barrier property of the new ionomer was improved through the introduction of an ionic site. Also, the ionic degree of cross-linking and gas barrier property of the ionomer membrane prepared by stepwise neutralization were increased.
A study on the particle growth in $TEOS/O_2$ plasma was performed, and particle size and its distribution was measured by the electrical aerosol analyzer (EAA), light scattering particle size analyzer and the particle size was also determined by SEM. The effects of process variables such as total gas flow rate, reactor pressure, supplied power and initial reactant concentration on the particle growth were investigated. From the EAA results, the particle size distribution is divided into three groups of the cluster size and the small and large size particles. The particle size distribution measured by the light scattering particle size analyzer becomes bimodal, because the cluster size particles smaller than 20 nm in diameter cannot be detected by the light scattering particle size analyzer. The size of particles measured by the light scattering particle size analyzer is in good agreements with those by the SEM. Also we could understand that the particle formation is very sensitive to the changes of reactor pressure and reactant concentration. As the total gas flow rate increases, the particle size decreases because of the shorter residence time. As the reactor pressure, or the reactant concentration increases, the particle concentration increases and the particles grow more quickly by the faster coagulation between particles.

These studies were carried out to investigate the effects of the addition of amino acids and FBS as source of exogenous nitrogen fixation added to medium on in vitro production of blastocyst derived from bovine follicular oocytes. The base medium was TCM-199 solution for in vitro maturation(IVM) of bovine follicular oocytes and Fer-TALP solution for in vitro fertilization(IVF) and YS solution for in vitro culture(IVC). IVC used the fertilized oocytes of 24-hr culture (day 1) after IVF. Rmbryos were cultured in drop-culture that contained 25 embryos per 10 ${mu}ell$. The results obtained are as follows: 1 The developmental rates of fertilized oocytes to blastocyst that developed from YS solution with NEAA derived from MEM alone were higher than those of YS solution without NEAA. 2. The developmental rates of fertilized oocytes to blastocyst that developed from YS solution with EAA derived RPMI 1640 alone were significantly higher than those of YS solution without EAA (p<0.05). 3. When added to EAA on day 5 after NEAA supplementation on day 1, the developmental rates of hatched blastocyst and blastocyst to hatched blastocyst were improved. 4. When removed to EAA on day 3, day 4 and day 5 from medium after NEAA and EAA supplementation on day 1. the developmental rates of blastocyst to hatched blastocyst were reduced. 5. When added to FBS as source of exogenous nitrogen fixation, the developmental rates of blastocyst and hatched blastocyst that developed from the later culture higher(day 5) than those of the early culture.
Excitatory amino acids (EAA) are thought to play an important role in producing cell death associated with ischemic and traumatic spinal cord injury. The present study was carried out to determine if the response characteristics of spinal sensory neurons in segments adjacent to degeneration sites induced by EAA are altered following these morphological changes. Intraspinal injections of quisqualic acid (QA) produced neuronal degeneration and spinal cavitation of gray matter. The severity of lesions was significantly attenuated by pretreatment with a non-NMDA antagonist NBQX. In extracellular single unit recordings, dorsal horn neurons in QA injected animal showed the increased mechanosensitivity, which included a shift to the left in the stimulus-response relationship, an increased background activity and an increase in the duration of after-discharge responses. Neuronal responses, especially the C-fiber response, to suprathreshold electrical stimulation of sciatic nerve also increased in most cases. These results suggest that altered functional states of neurons may be responsible for sensory abnormalities, e.g. allodynia and hyperalgesia, associated with syringomyolia and spinal cord injury.
Several strains capable of degrading PEGs(Polyethylene Glycols) were isolated and investigated for their biodegradation ability of PEGs. Microorganisms screened for the biodegrada- tion studies were those grown on the PEG used as a sole carbon and energy source. It was known that the number of microorganisms decreased when grown on the high molecular weight of PEG. A biodegradation of PEG was investigated with such microorganisms in the reactor and resulted in the decrease in PEG concentration meaning that PEG was degraded in the reactor. This microorganism was identified as Flavobacterium sp. The biodegradability was found to be about 18.8% for PEG-8000 and 25.4% for PEG-10,000, respectively. For the manufacture of biodeg- radable PEG film, EMAA/PEG and EAA/PEG blending ability was investigated with IR spectrum and showed that it was possible to produce blending film.

The purposes of this study were to provide the data for composition of ethylene glycol ethers and 2-ethoxyethyl acetate(EEA) exposure assessment of workers in various industrial operations. In this study, 80 thinners were analyzed to identify their composition and the air concentration of 2-ethoxyethyl acetate(EEA) and urinary 2-ethoxyacetic acid(EAA) were measured. In this study the subjects were the total of 183 drawn from 98 workers who were occupationally exposed to EEA and 85 workers who were not. The results were as follows: 1. There were found average 4.2 components in each thinner. 2. There were 90 components(26.9%) in ethylene glycol ethers of total of 334 detected organic solvents 3. Ethoxyethyl acetate, ethoxyethanol, buthoxyethanol, methoxy-ethanol were found in 30(37.5%), 27(33.8%), 19(23.8%), 2thinners(2.5%), respectively and their contents were average 18.5%. 4. Benzene was found 8 thinners(10.0%) of the total 80 surveyed. 5. In the electronic painting workers EEA exposure concentration was the highest, as showed 2.88ppm(0.01~15.1ppm), cases of exceeded threshold limit value(TLV=5ppm) were 7(10.6%) workers among the total of 98 exposed workers. 6. The geometric mean of urinary EEA in exposed workers was 1.61 mg/gcreatinine, and was higher than that of workers who were not exposed. In the electronic painting workers and offset printers, the geometric mean of urinary EAA was the highest showing 2.8 mg/gcreatinine. 7. The correlation coefficient between urinary concentration of EAA and air concentration of EEA was 0.90(P<0.05). The present results suggest that composition of ethylene glycol ethers in thinners must be evaluated when industrial hygiene surveys and biological monitoring are performed.
