A Functionally Integrative Architecture between e-Marketplace and Corporate Systems Considering Buyer-Supplier Relationship under c-Commerce (c-Commerce 하의 기업간 협력관계를 고려한 전자시장과 기업 시스템간 기능통합적 체계)

  • As the most widely used media of BtoB e-business, the e-Marketplace can be a way of BtoB e-buisness continuously in the age of c-Commerce with the functional collaborative integration between the e-Marketplace and corporate systems. Moreover, collaborative operations like QR, VMI and so on have shown a great efficiency in the area of BtoB supply chain management. However, some critical considerations are discussed in the selection of trade partners between the e-Marketplace and the SCM. In e-Marketplaces, the intermediation to select partnersusually focuses on the competitive process for lower price. However, in the SCM, the relationship with strategic alliance is more importantly addressed for efficiency. Considering the trend to c-Commerce in Internet commerce, the approach to the collaborative relationship in BtoB commerce has important meanings. In this paper, we proposed and appraised an architecture where the e-Marketplace can be an elelctronic functional method for the relationship based BtoB e-business from the viewpoint of SCM and c-Commerce.

  • E-business is not like e-commerce. E-business is more comprehensive than e-commerce. In the near future, it is expected that ebusiness prevails in the fields of wireless, peer-to-peer networks, streaming media and biometrics technologies. In this paper, we discuss the past and current of e-business, and then research topics of e-business, including new technology and the directions.

A systematic literature review on electronic commerce adoption in small enterprises: A bibliometrics with co-citation and keyword network analysis

  • Purpose The purposes of the study are to explore the overall theories used in e-commerce adoption research for small enterprises, to demonstrate the research topics and the growth of the research topics in e-commerce adoption for small businesses over twenty years by co-word analysis and to suggest future directions on e-commerce adoption research in small enterprises. Design/methodology/approach This study used bibliometrics approach to systematically review electronic commerce adoption in small enterprises. More specifically, the study used co-citation to reveal the structure and theoretical foundations and keyword network analysis to understand the changes of research themes in small business e-commerce adoption research from 1999 to 2023. Findings According to the bibliometrics analysis result, this study revealed the nine research topics in small enterprise e-commerce adoption. In addition, this study can be applied to start e-commerce adoption research on small enterprises with a theoretical framework.

  • The purpose of this study is a classification of farm typology and an analysis of characteristic e-commerce type of farm enterprises. The classification of sample farm enterprises thus results in six distinctively agribusiness type. The six identified types can be characteristic as follows: production type, processing type and distribution type, e-commerce type, export-agricultural type, amenity-tourism type. This article attempted to come up with workable strategies to solve these problems affecting e-commerce type farm enterprises. The main results this paper are as follows: 1) to make organization of e-commerce type farm enterprises to accomplish business goals 2) to find out solution for urgent problems and subjects of farm management 3) to practice profitable business model for e-commerce type. E-commerce type farm enterprises needs are not only technology transference but also farm management.

Relationships Among Owner-Manager Characteristics, E-commerce Adoption and Performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia

  • This study examined the relationships among owner-manager characteristics, e-commerce adoption, and performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. Although the growth of e-commerce was encouraging in many countries, studies of e-commerce adoption among SMEs in developing countries such as Malaysia are insufficient. Furthermore, studies that investigated individual characteristics and e-commerce adoption are still low in number. This study specifically employed the technology-organization-environmental (TOE) framework to develop its research model. The sample was selected by using a non-probability judgmental sampling technique because the desired population frame was unavailable. A total of 111 owner-managers of SMEs were surveyed using online self-administered questionnaires. Subsequently, the data was analyzed through partial least square-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results revealed significant relationships between owner-manager characteristics and e-commerce adoption, as well as between e-commerce adoption and the performance of SMEs. The findings suggested that owner-manager characteristics played an important role in determining e-commerce adoption among SMEs. Moreover, e-commerce adoption was crucial in affecting the performance of SMEs. This paper provided new insights into factors affecting e-commerce adoption and firm performance. It could further benefit the government and SMEs in strategizing e-commerce adoption and development, especially in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) and the post-COVID-19 pandemic.

The Impact of TOE Framework on E-Commerce Advantage Among Small Medium Enterprise (SME's) Digital Channel In Malaysia

  • Purpose: This study aims to understand the impact of e-commerce's advantage among SME's digital channel in Malaysia. To achieve the objective, this study used Technology, Organization, Environment (TOE) framework, Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory and Resource-Based View (RBV) theory. Research design, data and methodology: This study is quantitative method involve 195 SMEs online business in Malaysia. The integrated framework highlights the conceptual insight in multidimensional technology context (i.e. relative advantage, compatibility, and complexity); organizational context (i.e. top management support, innovation capability, branding capability, market-sensing capability, and human and organization capability); and environmental context (i.e. government support and supplier pressure). Results: The findings revealed that complexity, branding capability, human and organization capability, government support, and supplier pressure have significant positive relationship with e-commerce advantage. Meanwhile, relative advantage, compatibility, innovation capability, and market-sensing capability have significant negative relationship with e-commerce advantage. However, top management support has found no significant relationship with e-commerce advantage. Conclusions: The extended theoretical framework dimension improves existing knowledge on e-commerce advantage as well as the prospect of SMEs digital channel.

Communicating While Distributing: Little Things That Matter to Consumers' Trust and Confidence in E-Commerce

  • Purpose: As a modern distribution channel, the growth of e-commerce has brought more competitive pressures on e-marketplace, making trust and loyalty become top priority. As one of many sources of trust and loyalty issues, understanding the effect of careless marketing communications on consumers' perception is critical. This study examines the effect of careless marketing communications (e.g. misspellings, incomplete information) in website on consumers' trust toward and confidence in purchasing a product from an e-commerce. Research design and methodology: An experimental research design (with two experimental studies) was used in to test the hypotheses. Study 1 employs a single-factor design and study 2 employs a 2x2, full-factorial, between-subjects design. Results: Results of the two experimental studies (Study 1, n = 60; Study 2, n = 140) demonstrate that simple mistakes significantly decrease consumers' trust toward an e-commerce and their confidence to purchase from the e-commerce. The effect is found to be significant in the case of high-involvement products; whereas no effect is found in low-involvement products. Conclusions: E-commerce relies heavily on carefully crafted marketing communications to establish consumers' trust and confidence. These studies confirm the equal importance of distribution and communication in maintaining consumers' trust and sustainability of the business.

An Empirical Analysis of the Impact of the Institution-based Trust Factors on the Survival of E-commerce Companies in Korea (제도기반 신뢰요소가 한국 전자상거래 기업의 생존에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증 분석 연구)

  • E-commerce in Korea has grown steadily in recent years. E-commerce has provided firms with an effective method to approach potential customers by overcoming geographical and physical barriers. However, despite the rapid growth, many e-commerce businesses closed their businesses and were not able to survive. This study aims to empirically examine the factors that determine the survival of e-commerce businesses in Korea. In particular, this study focuses on the factors related to the notion of institution-based trust that includes delivery, privacy, and security management. This research used the data set about 31,295 e-commerce businesses that have been registered in Seoul. We found that the e-commerce business that does not require extra personal information beyond the standard terms and conditions or provides a feedback mechanism by having an online board to submit a complaint has a higher chance of survival. In addition, the e-commerce business that has a secured web server, shows the specific information about the date of delivery, or provides escrow services is likely to survive longer than others. The research has extended the extant literature on the importance of trust in e-commerce by empirically examining the effects of the institution-based trust factors on the actual survival of e-commerce businesses.

Research Trends in e-commerce Using Topic Modeling: Focusing on SCOPUS Database (토픽 모델링을 활용한 e-commerce 연구 동향: SCOPUS DB 데이터를 중심으로)

  • E-commerce has emerged as a key economic driver in the digital age, and the importance of the e-commerce market has been highlighted, leading to rapid expansion in related research areas. This paper analyzes the research trends on e-commerce from 1996, when e-commerce emerged and research began, to the present day. To this end, we used R and LDA topic modeling techniques and conducted a validity test on the number of topics and an analysis of the predictive value of the topic model centered on the core keyword "e-commerce" using the SCOPUS, a foreign academic database. The analysis of topics showed that ecommerce, model, study, data, and online were among the important topics. Logistics was also found to be important. In the rapidly changing and complex e-commerce market environment, it is important to respond to the diversification of business models and the establishment of a stable revenue structure to survive. As the continuous growth of the e-commerce market is predicted, the results of this study can be used as basic data for entering the e-commerce market and expanding business through countermeasures and strategies.

  • The application of Internet-technologies to support inter-business transactions and relationships (also termed business-to-business, B2B, electronic commerce) has recently received tremendous attention. Recognizing the importance of the Internet as a powerful business tool, many companies including public organization such as KEPCO(Korea Electronic Power Corporation) have moved quickly to take advantage of electronic commerce. This study explores the impact of Internet-based technology on the procurement function, howe-procurement is helping organizations to enhance their competitiveness and the challenges to its adoption. The study also presents the findings from a survey conducted to gain insight into the adoption of e-procurement by KEPCO. Specifically, it seeks to uncover the prevalence of and extent to which public organization is adopting e-procurement, the benefits reaped and the barriers encountered in the course of implementation.
