In this paper, interleaved boost converter is applied as a first-stage converter in switch mode power supply. The first-stage converter plays a role to improve power factor. Interleaved Boost Power Factor Corrector(IBPFC) can reduce input current ripple as a single voltage control loop only without inner current loop, because input current is divided each 50% by two switching devices. Each converter cell is also operated in discontinuous current mode and inductor current of each converter is discontinuous. Total input current which is composed by each converter cell is continuous current. Thus, IBPFC is able to improve input current ripple. IBPFC operating in discontinuous current mode can be classified as six modes from switching state and be carried out state space averaging small signal modeling. A control transfer function is obtained according to the modeling. Not only steady-state characteristics but also dynamic characteristics is considered. Single voltage control loop is also constructed by the control transfer function. From experimental result, improvement of power factor and input current ripple are verified.

This paper presents an output voltage regulation system using PWM Buck-Boost AC-AC converter for power qualify improvement of custom power. This paper proposes dynamic modeling of the system for control object and in addition, a controller design example. Therefore, system state equation is derived whereby the transfer function could be obtained. The paper shows a regulation controller for tracking the output voltage to the reference under specific operating point. Finally, this paper shows validity and practical applicability of the proposed modelling and system design by experimental results.
A digital self-sustained phase shift modulation (DSSPSM) strategy that allows for good soft switching and dynamic response performance in the presence of step variations is presented in this paper. The working principle, soft switching characteristics, and voltage gain formulae of a LLC converter with DSSPSM have been provided separately. Furthermore, the method for realizing DSSPSM is proposed. Specifically, some key components of the proposed DSSPSM are carefully investigated, including a parameter variation analysis, the start-up process, and the zero-crossing capture of the resonant current. The simulation and experiment results verify the feasibility of the proposed control method. It is observed that the zero voltage switching of the switches and the zero current switching of the rectifier diodes can be easily realized in presence of step load variations.
In this paper, a fast transient buck converter using hysteresis PWM control is presented. The proposed control method is based on hysteresis control of the capacitor C voltage. This offers a faster transient response to meet the challenges of the power supply requirements for fast dynamic input and load changes. It also provides better stability and solves the compensation problem of the error amplifier in conversional voltage PWM control. Finally, the steady-state and dynamic operation of the proposed control method are analyzed and verified by simulation and experimental results.
To increase the capacity of secondary cells, an appropriate serial composition of the battery modules is essential. The unbalance that may occur due to the series connection in such a serial composition is the main cause for declines in the efficiency and performance of batteries. Various studies have been conducted on the use of a passive or active topology to eliminate the unbalance from the series circuit of battery modules. Most topologies consist of a complex structure in which the Battery Management System (BMS) detects the voltage of each module and establishes the voltage balancing in the independent electrical power converters installed on each module by comparing the module voltage. This study proposes a new magnetic flux sharing type DC/DC converter topology in order to remove voltage unbalances from batteries. The proposed topology is characterized by a design in which all of the DC/DC convertor outputs connected to the modules converge into a single transformer. In this structure, by taking a form in which all of the battery balancing type converters share magnetic flux through a single harmonic wave transformer, all of the converter voltages automatically converge to the same voltage. This paper attempts to analyze the dynamic properties of the proposed circuit by using a Programmable Synthesizer Interface Module (PSIM), which is useful for power electronics analysis, while also attempting to demonstrate the validity of the proposed circuit through experimental results.
A multi-pulse GTO based voltage source converter (VSC) topology together with a fundamental frequency switching mode of gate control is a mature technology being widely used in static synchronous compensators (STATCOMs). The present practice in utility/industry is to employ a high number of pulses in the STATCOM, preferably a 48-pulse along with matching components of magnetics for dynamic reactive power compensation, voltage regulation, etc. in electrical networks. With an increase in the pulse order, need of power electronic devices and inter-facing magnetic apparatus increases multi-fold to achieve a desired operating performance. In this paper, a competitive topology with a fewer number of devices and reduced magnetics is evolved to develop an 18-pulse, 2-level $\pm$ 100MVAR STATCOM in which a GTO-VSC device is operated at fundamental frequency switching gate control. The inter-facing magnetics topology is conceptualized in two stages and with this harmonics distortion in the network is minimized to permissible IEEE-519 standard limits. This compensator is modeled, designed and simulated by a SimPowerSystems tool box in MATLAB platform and is tested for voltage regulation and power factor correction in power systems. The operating characteristics corresponding to steady state and dynamic operating conditions show an acceptable performance.

The terminal voltage of a synchronous generator is maintained by the field current control of excitation system. Generally AC/DC converter which is component of AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulator) system for excitation current control is connected to diode rectifier and DC/DC converter system. In the case of diode rectifier system of phase controlled converter as AC/DC converter have low power factor and harmonics of lower order in the line current. In this paper, two stage three phase PWM AC/DC converter is studied to solve these problems. The characteristics of a proposed converter reduces the harmonics and reactive power of the distribution line and has fast dynamic response in transient period using boost converter and current control mode buck converts. The proposed method is verified by the computer simulation and experimental results in prototype generation system.

This paper analyzes the steady-state and dynamic characteristics of the watkings-johnson converter. the major contributions of this paper includ identification of the following characteristics unique to the watkins-johnson converter: (1) The output voltage of the converter is nearly constant at the continous conduction mode (CCM), and at discontinousou conduction mode (DCM) it decreses linerly as the output curretn increases. (2) The control-to-output transfer function is a second-order one with a left-half-plane (LHP) zero determined by the combination of the output capacitor and equivalent series resistor of the converter. This LHP zero signinificantly improves the stability of the converter. (3) The control-to-output transfer function reduces to a first-order one, as the converter moves from CCM to DCM. (4) The parastic resistance of the inductor does not cause any significant influence on poles and zeros of the transfer function.

This paper proposes a boost-input self-driven active clamp ZVS converter eliminating the extra dirve circuit for the active clamp switch. The converter used the auxiliary winding of the transformer to drive the active clamp switch and to achieve asymmetrical duty control. This paper presents the operation principle and the analyzed results of dynamic characteristics including steady state characteristics of the converter proposed. The experimental results were used to verify the theoretical predictions. A 300W (15V/20A) prototype converter that only exhibited 2-turn winding number in the auxiliary winding was sufficient to drive the active clamp switch on the input voltage of 80V. Finally, the maximum efficiency of 91.2% was achieved for the prototype converter and the proposed converter had stable closed loop characteristic with phase margin $55^{\circ}$.

In this paper, a novel control strategy of curretn source PWM converter and inverter system for induction motor dirves is proposed. The PWM converter controls line current to be sinusoidal and makes input power factor unity. In the inverter part, a minor voltage control loop is incorporated in the current control looop in order to suppress unstale resonance between the filter capacitor and the motor leakage inductance and to keep the stator voltage under the rated value. In additon, the modulation index control of the inverter currents ripples and inverter loss. With the proposed algorithm, both high dynamic responses and satisfactory static performance can be obtained.
