Among several types of energy saving smart window technologies, the leader, the dynamic EC (electrochromic) window one needs integrated PV (photovoltaics), to minimize expensive electrical wiring as well as to obviate the need for external energy. Self-powered smart windows were reviewed according to PV types used. DSSCs (dye sensitized solar cells) were found to be compatible with EC cells, to have several categories of next generation smart windows such as PECCs (photoelectrochromic cells), PVCCs (photovoltachromic cells), EC polymer PECCs. In addition silicon solar cells and third generation solar cells were investigated. They are summarized in a table showing their advantages and disadvantages respectively for a fast comparison. The strategy to expedite the commercialization of these next generation smart windows includes developing retrofit smart window coverings for use on flexible polymer substrates adhered to the inside surface of a window and easily replaced after use for upto 10 years.

This study aims to investigate dynamic properties of express buses in the very low frequencies which affect motion sickness incidence. Since passengers often use express buses for long distance traveling, it is a critical point whether a give rise to motion sickness or not. In the study accelerations at the three points on the floor of the six test vehicles were measured during the driving at constant speeds. By applying frequency weighting curves suggested in ISO 2631-1 and ISO 2631-3, physical amount of accelerations were changed into perceptual amount which determines incidence of motion sickness. Motion sickness dose values were calculated from the frequency weighted time history of accelerations, and compared between the vehicles, driving conditions, and the seat positions in the bus. During the driving on public road and high ways for 50 minutes vomiting incidence ratios ranged 0.4 to 0.8%, which were equivalent to 2.4 to 4.8% for 5 hours' driving. The value of 4.8 % means two among 45 passengers may vomit after the traveling, which is very serious situation. Considering the very smooth driving condition at which the data were collected, motion sickness dose values will increase in real situations
This paper describes the process of analyzing vehicle stiffness in terms of frequency band in order to improve vehicle handling. Vehicle handling and ride comfort are highly related to the systems such as suspension, seat, steering, and the car body design. In existing analytical processes, the resonance frequency of a car body is designed to be greater than 25 Hz in order to increase the stiffness of the body against idle vibration. This paper introduces a method for using a band with a frequency lower than 20 Hz to analyze how stiffness affects vehicle handling. Accordingly, static stiffness analysis of a 1g cornering force was conducted to minimize the deformation of vehicle components derived from a load on parts attached to the suspension. In addition, this technology is capable of achieving better performance than older technology. Analysis of how body attachment stiffness affects the dynamic stiffness of a bushing in the attachment parts of the suspension is expected to lead to improvements with respect to vehicle handling and road noise. The process of developing a car body with a high degree of stiffness, which was accomplished in the preliminary stage of this study, confirms the possibility of improving the stability performance and of designing a lightweight prototype car. These improvements can reduce the time needed to develop better vehicles.
In this paper, the ride comfort from a computer simulation was compared to the experimental result. For measuring ride comfort of a passenger car, acceleration data was obtained from the floor and seat during highway running with different speeds. The measured acceleration components were multiplied by the proper weighting functions, and then summed together to calculate overall ride values. Testing several passenger cars, the ride comforts were compared. In order to investigate the effect of vibration signals on the steering wheel, an apparatus to measure the vibrations and weighting functions on the steering wheel were designed. The effect of the steering accelerations on the ride comfort were investigated and added for the overall ride comfort. For the computer simulations, Korean dummy models were developed based on the Hybrid III dummy models. For the Korean dummy scaling, the national anthropometric survey of Korean people was used. In order to compare and check the validity of the developed Korean dummy models, dynamic responses were compared to those of Hybrid III dummy models. The computer simulation using the MADYMO software was also compared to the experimental results.

This study aims to measure an apparent mass of a seated human body at the sitting posture in a passenger car in the frequency range from 1 to 20 Hz and to investigate the dynamic characteristics. Thirty subjects joined the test where eight levels of acceleration from $0.1m/s^2\;to\;2.0m/s^2$ were used to excite seated human body. Most of apparent mass curves showed two peaks in the frequency range of $4\sim9Hz$, first peak was clearer at the contact point of the seat and the hip, and the second one at the contact point of the backrest and the back. Both peak frequencies were found to move down to lower frequencies with increase of acceleration magnitude. Shapes of apparent mass curves were clearly different from those at erect posture especially in the frequency range around and above the second peak.
The Child Occupant Safety Assessment was first introduced and carried out by Euro NCAP in 2003, with the goal of ensuring manufacturers to develop safe vehicles for passengers of all ages; the objective was to evaluate the safety and protection offered by different Child Restraint Systems (CRS) in the event of a crash. In 2013, the formerly used P child dummy series was replaced by newer and more biofidelic Q1.5 and Q3 child dummies, representing 1.5 and 3 year old children respectively. The frontal and side impact dynamic performances of the Q1.5 and Q3 were tested within all classes of vehicles assessed by Euro NCAP at the time. As an extension to that initiative, Q6 and Q10 child dummies were later developed representing children of 6 and 10 years old. Since the protection of larger children during vehicle crashes relies greatly on the interaction of vehicle restraint systems such as seat belt and the CRS, instrumented Q6 and Q10 dummies will be used to assess the protection offered in the event of front and side impact crashes. In this paper, we focused on injury criteria of Q6 and Q10 child dummies at 64 kph 40% offset frontal crash test. The whole procedure was designed with DFSS analysis. The full vehicle sled test results of both dummies were conducted with different restraint systems settled through previous sled test. It showed that several injury criteria and image data were collected as the result of the full vehicle sled test. Based on the results of these investigations, this paper describes which factor is most important and combination shows the best performance when evaluating rear seat occupant protection for Q6 and Q10 child dummies.

A quick-hardened concrete track was developed to improve the aged ballasted track to a concrete track, and applied to earthworks and tunnels of main and urban railways. Rebars for reinforcement are not generally applied to prestressed concrete sleepers. On the other hand, many cracked sleepers have been observed in railroad sites. A wide sleeper, which is one of the main components of quick-hardened concrete track, should be structurally safe and crack-resistant in a ballasted and concrete track to avoid this problem. In particular, a wide sleeper manufactured by a post-tension method must have reinforcing bars applied to the rail-seat section. In this paper, static tests, dynamic tests, and fatigue tests were carried out to compare the flexural strength and crack resistance performance of a wide sleeper with and without reinforcing bars for a quick-hardened concrete track. As a result of the test, if some reinforcing bars are applied appropriately to the rail-seat section of a wide sleeper, it will be possible to prevent the occurrence of cracks, delay the expansion of the crack width, and the flexural fracture.

Biomechanical analysis of arm motion during steering was performed using a motion analysis technique. Three-dimensional position data for each part of arm are fed into an interactive model combining a musculoskeletal arm model and the mechanical steering system to calculate joint angles and torques using inverse kinematic and dynamic analyses, respectively. The analysis shows that elbow pronation/supination, wrist flexion/extension, shoulder adduction/abduction, and shoulder flexion/extension have significant magnitudes. Sensitivity analysis of the arm joint motion with respect to seating posture and steering wheel configuration is carried out to investigate the qualitative influence of the seating posture and driver's seat configuration on the steering behavior.

There have been a lot of efforts on the improvement for the ride comfort and handling stability of the combat vehicles. Especially most of vehicles for military purpose have bad inertial condition and severe operating condition such as the rough road driving, and need a high mobility in the emergency status. It is necessary to apply the controlled suspension system in order to improve the vehicle mobile stability and ride comfort ability of crews. A feasibility study is performed on the application of the semi-active suspension system with a magneto-rheological controlled shock absorber for a $6{\times}6$ combat vehicle. First, the dynamic simulation model of the vehicle including the control model for the semi-active suspension system was executed. Based on this model, a hardware-in-the-loop simulation(HILS) system which has a semi-active suspension controller hardware was constructed. After full vehicle simulations were performed in virtual proving courses with this system, the semi-active suspension system was proven to give better ride comfort and handling stability in comparison with the conventional passive suspension system.
A seismic change is under way in diplomatic topography surrounding the Korean Peninsula. A new dynamic is being generated that could lead to a breakthrough in the nuclear stalemate and to an end of hostility between the two Koreas. Moon Administration's bold and creative foreign policy, which is alleged to place South Korea in the "driver's seat", is probably responsible for what is happening on the Korean Peninsula. However, on the other hand, Moon Administration's foreign policy shows a lot of continuity with foreign policy of previous conservative governments. In particular, the Moon government's emphasis on the vitality of the ROK-US alliance and its commitment to close coordination with the US in dealing with nuclear issues of North Korea is the hallmark of the continuity in South Korea's foreign policy. Emphasizing and sharing the notion of the continuities in foreign policy could contribute to social integration by garnering bi-partisan support. It could also spawn sense of stability, predictability, and confidence to diplomatic counterparts in other countries. And it could help avoid the negative effects of expectation-reality gap in the event that the outcome of all the diplomatic endeavor falls short of expectation held by citizens.
