In this paper, we propose a delayed multiple copy retransmission (DMCR) scheme for data communication in wireless networks, by which multiple copies of a lost link layer frame are retransmitted one-by-one with a retransmission delay in between. The number of the copies gradually increases with the number of retransmissions. Furthermore, for implementation of the DMCR scheme in practical mobile communication system, we also propose a dynamic retransmission scheme by interleaving and a new round-robin scheduling algorithm. We compare our scheme with the previous non-delayed retransmission schemes on the performance of frame loss probability, channel capacity and total transmission time. Numerical results show that the DMCR scheme can achieve higher performance. The effect of the delay time on endto-end TCP throughput is investigated as well.

The dynamic opportunistic device-to-device (DO-D2D) network will frequently emerge in the fifth generation (5G) wireless communication due to high-density and fast-moving mobile devices. In order to improve the Quality of Experience (QoE) of users with different computing capacity devices in the DO-D2D network, in this paper, we focus on the study of how to reduce the packets retransmission delay and satisfy heterogeneous devices. To select as many devices as possible to transmit simultaneously without interference, the concurrent transmitters-selecting algorithm is firstly put forward. It jointly considers the number of packets successfully received by each device and the device's connectivity. Then, to satisfy different devices' demands while primarily ensuring the base-layer packets successfully received by all the devices, the layer-cooperation instantly decodable network coding is presented, which is used to select transmission packets combination for each transmitter. Simulation results illustrate that there is an appreciable retransmission delay gain especially in the poor channel quality network compared to the traditional base-station (BS) retransmission algorithm. In addition, our proposed algorithms perform well to satisfy the different demands of users with heterogeneous devices.
Link-16은 가장 널리 사용 중인 전술데이터링크로써 TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access)를 기반으로 동작한다.

In this paper, we study the cross-layer design for the AMC/HARQ-based wireless networks, and propose a new dynamic transmission-mode selection scheme to improve system spectrum efficiency. In the proposed scheme, dynamic thresholds for transmission-mode selection in each packet transmission and retransmission are jointly designed under the constraint of the overall packet error rate. Comparing with the existing schemes, the proposed scheme is inclined to apply higher modulation order at the first several (re)transmissions, which corresponds to higher-rate transmission modes thus higher average system spectrum efficiency. We also extend the cross-layer design to MIMO (Multi-input Multi-output) communication scenarios. Numerical results show that the proposed new dynamic transmission-mode selection scheme generally achieves higher average spectrum efficiency than the conventional and existing cross-layer design.
The long propagation delay over satellite internet causes degradation of TCP performance in slow start phase. Especially, web traffic performance is greatly reduced by low throughput in slow start phase. To improve web traffic performance, we propose the Dynamic ACK Generation Scheme which generates ACKs and considers sender RTO in PEP (Performance Enhancing Proxy). The Normal ACK generation mechanism improves TCP throughput, and also decreases sender RTO. if PEP stops generating ACKs, TCP performance will be reduced by frequent RTO expiration. To solve this problem, our scheme adjusts RTO using ACK generation interval. And it supports retransmission mechanism for loss recovery in PEP. The results of the performance analysis provide a good evidence to demonstrate the efficiency of our mechanisms over satellite internet.
Underwater Wireless Acoustic Sensor Networks have become an important area of research over the recent decades. Designing an underwater network, especially a media access control (MAC) protocol, faces many challenges due to the peculiarities of underwater environment. One of the most important problems is resulted from long and variable propagation delay of the acoustic wave. In this paper, we propose a new method, namely Dynamic Timeout over Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (DT/MACA), which is designed to handle long and high variable propagation delay in underwater acoustic sensor networks. In this proposed method, the difference timeout intervals are evaluated and applied to each network transmission. Simulation results show that our work not only improves the network throughput, but also decreases the unnecessary retransmission and end-to-end delay.
