Road measuring system using surface profile sensing algorithm (표면 종단면 형상 감지 알고리즘을 이용한 노면 해석 시스템)

  • This paper presents the development of the surface profile sensing system (SPSS) and its application to analysis of road surface. The SPSS which can robustly reconstruct the road input profiles from the intermixed data with the vehicle's dynamic motion, is implemented using the multi-sensor system with the optimally shaped transfer function. The performance of this system is evaluated by a series of experimental works in the devised simulator. And a real car test equipped with the proposed system is performed in the proving ground over both deterministic and random road surfaces. Finally, a feasibility of the system is investigated considering the road model.

  • The achievable machining accuracy depends upon the level of the micro-engineering, and the dimensional tolerances in the order of 10nm and surface roughness in the order of 1nm are the accuracytargets to be achieved today. Suchrequirements cannot be satisfiedby the conventional machining processes. Single point diamond turning is one of the new techniques which can produce the parts with such accuracy limits. The aims of this thesis are to get a better understanding of the complex cutting process with a diamond tool and, consequently, to develope a predicting modelof a turned surface profile. In order to predict the turned surface profile, a numerical model has been developed. By means of this model, the influences of the cutting conditions, the material properties of the workpiece, the geometry of the cutting tool and the dynamic behaviour of the lathe and their influences via the cutting forces upon the surface roughness have been estimated.

  • The ‘AEIPR’(Accelerometer Established Inertial Profiling Reference) method has been applied to measure the road profile. The dynamic road profiling method using AEIPR has the advantages of cost effectiveness, measuring speed and relatively high reliability. However, it is required to improve the double integration algorithm to get the measurement results with the accuracy of hither level. In the first part of this paper, the effective double integration algorithm is suggested and the ‘Road Profiler’ software is developed on the basis of the algorithm. Road profiling tests are performed using the developed ‘Road Profiler’ system on the specially designed tracks for the durability tests and the various types of pubic roads. Test results are shown and evaluated by the international road evaluation indicies and classification.

  • In design stage of vehicles, the application of virtual durability analysis techniques enables us to cut down the necessary time and cost to carry out various physical experiments. In this study, computer simulations of vehicle suspensions were carried out with DADS program including component flexibility, and the durability analysis of vehicle components was executed with MSC/Fatigue program using the load history obtained from vehicle dynamic simulation. Driving test of a vehicle was also carried out to obtain precise input data for the durability analysis, and the results of virtual durability analysis were compared to those of experiments.

  • This paper presents the key idea of handlebar reaction force and pedal resistance force generation in creating life-like feeling in KAIST bicycle simulator. Also, it provides methods to evaluate its reality level with given reaction force profile. In KAIST bicycle simulator, the pedal resistance force and the handlebar reaction force are calculated using the bicycle dynamic model. With the information handlebar angle, rider´s pedaling torque and road profile transmitted from the handlebar system, the pedal system and the visual part, the bicycle dynamics engine calculates the handlebar reaction force and the pedal velocity. In vitro Retention of Antimicrobial Activity of Ciprofloxacin-incorporated Central Venous Catheters

  • In vitro ciprofloxacin (CFX)-release study and bioassay using microorganisms were performed to estimate the retention of the antimicrobial activity of the CFX-incorporated central venous catheters (CFX-CVCs). The release experiments were carried out under the optional CFX-release conditions to mimic the in vivo environment. The release of CFX experienced an initial burst followed by a slow and steady matrix-diffusion controlled release. The 1.0CP (polyurethane catheter containing 1.0% (w/w) of CFX) under dynamic condition showed a near zero-order CFX release profile, which is beneficial for the long-tenn antimicrobial activity. The modified Kirby-Bauer method was performed employing S. aureus and E. coli to evaluate the retention of antimicrobial activity of the catheters retrieved from the release experiments. The 1.0CP showed the long-term antimicrobial activity (${\geq}\;21$ days) against both S. aureus and E. coli. These results indicate that 1.0CP is useful as a long-tenn indwelling CVC.

  • According to the number of cold-rolled coils, the amount of roll wear and thermal expansion, and roll gap profile were calculated, by using the actual data from the finishing mill. Also, based on those data, the calculations of the deflection, the flattening, and the contact pressure of vwork rolls and backup rolls were made respectively. Specially, in the calculation of contact pressure, the numerical results were obtained not only during the normal rolling, but also during the abnormal rolling, by modeling mathematically the dynamic impact force which occurs when the head section of the strip is threading through rolls. With those results the growth of the fatigue region and the fatigue damage of rolls were predicted. Also the optimum roll-grinding depth was determined to maximize the roll life.

  • To solve a problem of micro drive due to small size and portability, it is necessary to understand and to investigate micro drive widely ,deeply. So, we performed modal analysis of suspension of micro drive, and load/unload experiment for Input current to VCM coil and disk speed. To determine the effect of ramp profile, curve fitting of lateral speed is performed with equation of speed. The results indicate that small load/unload speeds decrease the number of head/disk contacts, and during unloading process, low disk speed increase the number of head/disk contacts.

  • A new control scheme s proposed for the control of reactive batch distillation (RBD) column. A nonlinear wave model captures the essential dynamic behavior of the RBD process. The proposed control scheme is based on both Generic Model Control(GNC) and nonlinear wave model. The control scheme uses a profile position of the column as a controlled variable. Ethanol esterification process using RBD is chosen as an example process. Tight control of the distillate purity is obtained with the use of the proposed control scheme.

  • This paper introduces u-learning service model based on context awareness. Also, it concentrates on agent-based WPAN technology, OSGi based middleware design, and the application mechanism such as context manager/profile manager provided by agents/server. Especially, we'll introduce the meta structure and its management algorithm, which can be updated with learning experience dynamically. So, we can provide learner with personalized profile and dynamic context for seamless learning service. The OSGi middleware is applied to our meta structure as a conceptual infrastructure.
