  • A sensorless motion planner which succeeds in grasping a polygonal part firmly into a desired orientation has been developed through the dynamic analysis. The analytical results on the impact process with friction are used for modeling the contact motionduring the parallel-jaw grasp operation, which is com- posed of the pushing and the squeezing process. The developed planner succeeds in grasping a part into a specified orientation in the face of uncertainties of initial position and orientation of the part, motion direction of the finger, and the physical parameters such as the coefficients of friction and restitution. The motion planner has been fully implemented into a viable package on the computer system, and verified experimentally. The motion of parts is recorded using a high-speed video camera, and then compared to the results of the planner and the graphic simulation results that illustrate the simulated motion of the grasp operation.

  • In this paper, a case study is introduced on the development on a production planning system for the efficient control of work-in-process material flows. A special attention has been given to the prevention of the shortage of the automobile-components at the auto-assembly lines and the dynamic adaptation of the production plan to the continuously changing environment. The expertise of the production planner is analyzed and transformed into the logic of the software developed.

  • One of main concerns of operators of the Earth observation satellite is taking images as many as possible under the constraints of satellite resources during fixed period. In order to achieve this goal, satellite operators are strongly required to generate the optimized image collection plans, and it is a very time consuming process to achieve an optimized image collection plan when it is done by manual. This paper suggests automation of image collection planning based on the dynamic programming algorithm to reduce the time required for image collection planning. The validity of the proposed method is tested using operating satellite system and the result is given in this paper.

  • Process planning is a very complex task and requires the dynamic informatioon of shop foor and market situations. Process plan selection is one of the main problems in the process planning. In this paper, we propose a new process plan selection model considering operation flexibility for the computer aided process planing. The model is formulated as a 0-1 integer programming considering realistic shop factors such as production volume, machining time, machine capacity, transportation time and capacity of tractors such as production volume, machining time, machine capacity, transportation time capacity of transfer device. The objective of the model is to minimize the sum of the processing and transportation time for all parts. A genetic algorithm a, pp.oach is developed to solve the model. The efficiency of the proposed a, pp.oach is verified with numerical examples.

  • In this research, an object-oriented Petri net model for representing a flexible process plan is proposed, which is hierarchically multi-faceted for supporting planning, scheduling, and shop floor control functions. The multi-faceted process plan model consists of the following: a) an object model which represents on object-oriented data model, b) a static model which represents a process flow model with process alternatives, and c) a dynamic model which represents a process activity model with resources alternatives, of a flexible process plan. Petri nets allow the static and the dynamic process plan models to be represented in a unified formalism with an ease of model transformation. The multi-faceted process plan model suggested in this paper, is illustrated with a prismatic port in comprehensive detail.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the school location and site planning direction for land use planning of public land development. And this research proposed the direction of small park in school. So this research present the implication on urban planning and design for architecture, park-school complex. This study perform the relationship analysis on location of school and park. The result follows as this : 1) land use planning : Location and space of park-school must be checked in advance. Schools and parks are placed together. The park is located south of the school. 2) school site planning : Small field for dynamic activity is needed in school. The character of small park in school is relationship of educational programs. 3) management : CCTV is installed at school. Bright lights are placed in school. This result will be used in decision-making-process of land use planning, public land development construction, urban design and city policy.

  • In this paper, we develop a new navigation algorithm for industrial mobile robots to arrive at the destination in unknown environment. To achieve this, we suggest a navigation algorithm that combines Dynamic Window Approach (DWA) and Dijkstra path planning algorithm. We compare Local Dynamic Window Approach (LDWA), Global Dynamic Window Approach(GDWA), Rapidly-exploring Random Tree (RRT) Algorithm. The navigation algorithm using Dijkstra algorithm combined with LDWA and GDWA makes mobile robots to reach the destination. and obstacles faced during the path planning process of LDWA and GDWA. Then, we compare on time taken to arrive at the destination, obstacle avoidance and computation complexity of each algorithm. To overcome the limitation, we seek ways to use the optimized navigation algorithm for industrial use.

  • The progressive collapse phenomenon is generally regarded as dynamic. Due to the impracticality of nonlinear dynamic computations for practitioners, an interest arises for the development of equivalent static pushover procedures. The present paper proposes a methodology to identify such a procedure for sudden column removals, using energetic evaluations to determine the pushover loads to apply. In a dynamic context, equality between the cumulated external and internal works indicates a vanishing kinetic energy. If such a state is reached, the structure is sometimes assumed able to withstand the column removal. Approximations of these works can be estimated using a static computation, leading to an estimate of the displacements at the zero kinetic energy configuration. In comparison with other available procedures based on such criteria, the present contribution identifies loading patterns to associate with the zero-kinetic energy criterion to avoid a single-degree-of-freedom idealisation. A parametric study over a family of regular steel structures of varying sizes uses non-linear dynamic computations to assess the proposed pushover loading pattern for the cases of central and lateral ground floor column failure. The identified quasi-static loading schemes are shown to allow detecting nearly all dynamically detected plastic hinges, so that the various beams are provided with sufficient resistance during the design process. A proper accuracy is obtained for the plastic rotations of the most plastified hinges almost independently of the design parameters (loads, geometry, robustness), indicating that the methodology could be extended to provide estimates of the required ductility for the beams, columns, and beam-column connections.

  • The goal of the multi-reservoir operation planning is to provide an optimal release plan that maximize the reservoir storage and hydropower generation while minimizing the spillages. However, the reservoir operation is difficult due to the uncertainty associated with inflows. In order to consider the uncertain inflows in the reservoir operating problem, we present a Stochastic Dynamic Programming (SDP) model based on the markov decision process (MDP). The objective of the model is to maximize the expected value of the system performance that is the weighted sum of all expected objective values. With the SDP model, multi-reservoir operating rule can be derived, and it also generates the steady state probabilities of reservoir storage and inflow as output. We applied the model to the Geum-river basin in Korea and could generate a multi-reservoir monthly operating plan that can consider the uncertainty of inflow.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a dynamic DSS (Decision Support System) interfaced with GIS (Geographic Information System) and agriculture information network, In this study, DSS was developed to assist services which required tremendous and real time data in national scale. The data transmitte'd from the local area by the agriculture network were stored in DBMS (Data Base Management System) and analyzed by GIS. GIS and database tools used in this study were ARC/INFO 7.1.1 and INFORMIX 4.0. ACSAS (Agriculture Calamity Service Asist System) by the system prototype was constructed to solve the problem about the drought counterplan service which was to take the responsibility in the Ministry of Agriculture. It was easy to transfer, process, and analyze the information using the system. Specially, the meteological, the reservoir storage rate and the drought counterplan information were spatially analyzed by the functions of GIS.
