Dynamic characteristic of manufacturing stage is understood and the utilization of each machine is maximized by developing on-line dynamic CAPP system to consider the overloads in the aircraft part manufacturing line. In this paper, a scheme of production planning and scheduling system was proposed through inspection about some predeveloped CAPP system. Developed production planning and scheduling system included process planning module. After precise inspection of some FMS line schema at domestic heavy industry, optimized FMS line was applied to aircraft part manufacturing and repairing factory. By virtue of considering overloads of factory and machine through on-line dynamic CAPP system, the utilization of resources is maximized and manufacturing lead time is minimized.
A manipulator system that needs significantly large workspace volume and high payload capacity has greater link flexibility than typical industrial robots and teleoperators. If link flexibility is significant, position control of the manipulator's end-effector exhibits the nonminimum phase, noncollocated, and flexible structure system control problems. This paper addresses inverse dynamic trajectory planning issues of a flexible manipulator. The inverse dynamic equation of a flexible manipulator was solved in the time domain. By dividing the inverse system equation into the causal part and the anticausal part, the inverse dynamic method calculates the feedforward torque and the trajectories of all state variables that do not excite structural vibrations for a given end-point trajectory. Through simulation and experiment with a single-Unk flexible manipulator, the effectiveness of the inverse dynamic method has been demonstrated.

Dynamic process planning requires not only more flexible capabilities of a CAPP system but also higher utility of the generated process plans. In order to meet the requirements, this paper develops an algorithm that can select machines for the machining operations by calculating the machine loads. The developed algorithm is based on the multi-objective genetic algorithm that gives rise to a set of optimal solutions (in general, known as the Pareto-optimal solutions). The objective is to satisfy both the minimization number of part movements and the maximization of machine utilization. The algorithm is characterized by a new and efficient method for nondominated sorting through K-means algorithm, which can speed up the running time, as well as a method of two stages for genetic operations, which can maintain a diverse set of solutions. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated by comparing with another multiple objective genetic algorithm, called NSGA-II and branch and bound algorithm.

The generalized goal decomposition model proposed by Ruefli as a single period decision model is presented for the purpose of a review and extended to make a multiple period planning model. The multiple period planning model in the three level organization is formulated with, linear goal deviations by introducing the goal programming method. Dynamic formulation using the generalized goal decomposition model for each single period problem is also presented. An iterative search algorithm is presented as an appropriate solution method of the dynamic formulation of the multiple period planning model.
Production planning and control system plays an important role in manufacturing companies because it determines all production capacity planning, material procurement planning, and production scheduling which are needed in the process of producing products. Many researches on production planning and control system have been conducted for many manufacturing companies for recent decade. But, a considerable research achievement has mainly been obtained on the forecast-driven production for a make-to-stock and an assemble-to-order. The reason is that there are some hardships such as difficulties of standardizing product information, the frequent changes of design and material, and the unexpected dynamic events that influence the production of customer's order in a make-to-order or an engineering-to-order environments. By these characteristics and their complexities, some studies for production planning and control system in a make-to-order environment are presented recently. In this paper, we present the framework of the hietachical production planning and control for a make-to-order environment with dynamic events. In order to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed framework for a hietachical production planning and control, the information system for a make-to-order production was implemented with the object of the company of producing electricity transformer.

The goal of site layout planning(SLP) is to maximize the productivity and efficiency of the construction by reducing travel distance and material handling cost and manpower. However, SLPs are static layout schemes, which cannot be reorganized during the construction process to correspond with errors, phase transition, changing working environments on the site. To solve this problem, researches on dynamic site layout planning(DSLP) are emerging. This preliminary study clarifies characteristics of temporary facility's variables to develop the vertical DSLP algorithm of high-rise building construction.
To survive in the current shipbuilding industry it is of vital importance for shipyards to achieve an optimal utilization of resources, make an achievable planning and ensure that this planning is kept. Possible problems should be eliminated before production starts and if unexpected disturbances occur in the actual production the right measures should be taken. Due to the dynamic nature of the production process, the continuous variation in products and the complexity of both, all this can hardly be achieved with conventional static planning and analysis systems. Simulation provides a solution here, since this enables the modelling and evaluation of the dynamic relations between product and production process. After a global introduction to production simulation in general and the application of simulation at the Flensburger shipyard, this paper presents a tool that has been developed to simulate the various complex assembly processes taking place at shipyards. Subsequently the simulation model for the subassembly production at Flensburger, in which this tool is applied, will be discussed.
One of the most challenging safety precautions for workers in dynamic, radioactive environments is avoiding radiation sources and sustaining low exposure. This paper presents a sampling-based algorithm, DL-RRT*, for minimum dose walk-path re-planning in radioactive environments, expedient for occupational workers in nuclear facilities to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure. The method combines the principle of random tree star ($RRT^*$) and $D^*$ Lite, and uses the expansion strength of grid search strategy from $D^*$ Lite to quickly find a high-quality initial path to accelerate convergence rate in $RRT^*$. The algorithm inherits probabilistic completeness and asymptotic optimality from $RRT^*$ to refine the existing paths continually by sampling the search-graph obtained from the grid search process. It can not only be applied to continuous cost spaces, but also make full use of the last planning information to avoid global re-planning, so as to improve the efficiency of path planning in frequently changing environments. The effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method was verified by simulating radiation field under varying obstacles and radioactive environments, and the results were compared with $RRT^*$ algorithm output.

When we try to design a production planning system for a manufacturing company, it is a time consuming task to analyze various planning activities and identify inter-relationship among a lot of decisions made for the production planning. Most of the research efforts have been concentrated to well-organized independent decision-making problems that may usually be identified only after analyzing the characteristics of the decision-making process as a whole. In this paper, a methodology is suggested to characterize the whole process of the production planning for a manufacturing company and reduce the complexity of decision-making problems. The methodology is based on an experience of developing a production planning software for an automobile component manufacturer in korea. First, it is explained how to identify and represent the dependency among various decision-making variables. And a methodology is proposed to analyze the identified dependency among decision variables and identify decision-making process. Lastly, a practical example is provided to illustrate the analysis procedure in this paper.

Generating a project network of a specific construction project is very time consuming and difficult task in the field. To effectiviely automate and support the planning process, we design a case-based project planning expert system inspired by the fact a human expert project planner uses previous cases for planning a new project. A construction project case consist of its specific characteristics and the corresponding project network (i.e. project plan). Using frame based representation. we represent the project features affecting the progress network and the entities composing the project plan such as the buildings, construction methods, WBS (work breakdown structure), activities, and resources. The project planning process runs through most similar case retrieval, case adaptation, and user requirement satisfaction. We represent the construction domain knowledge for each procedure using constraints and rules. We develop the methodology for constraint-based case adaption. Case adaptation process mainly consist of activity generation/deletion and predecence constraint satisfaction, for which we develop the dynamic constraint generation method and connect user-level requirement representation the system-level network modification knowledge. The methodology is being applied to the prototype for apartment construction project planning.
