Using flexible multibody system dynamic method, the rigid-flexible coupling multibody dynamic analysis model of the drum brake system was developed, and the kinematic and dynamic simulation of the system was processed as its object of study. Simulations show that the friction will increase with the dynamic friction coefficient, but high dynamic friction coefficient will cause the abnormal vibration and worsen the stability of the brake system, even the stability of the whole automobile. The modeling of flexible multi-body can effectively analyze and solve complex three-dimensional dynamic subjects of brake system and evaluate brake capability. Further research and study on this basis will result in a convenient and effective solution that can be much helpful to study, design and development of the brake system.

The hydraulic energy regnerative brake systems is introduced in this work. An accumulator stores kinetic energy during braking action, and the stored energy is used in a following acceleration action. The dynamic model of the brake system is derived for computer simulation study, and the Runge-Kutta numerical integration method is applied to the simulation work. Since the model contains several unknown parameters, these were determined by data which had been proceeded. Through a series of computer simulation , dynamic performance of the energy regenerative brake system is compared with that of a conventional system in which a conventional brake circuit is used. A series of test is carried out in the laboratory. The dynamic characteristics of the hydraulic motor system, such as the surge pressure and response time, are investigated in both brake action and acceleration action.
Dynamo based vehicle inspection device is end of line device for automobile industry. The device is utilized as implementing vehicle functionality inspection such as brake force, cruise control, kick-down acceleration, CAN inspection. As dynamo based inspection device is broadly adopted in automobile industry, the dynamic study is required to verify the vehicle test equipment reliability. This research recommends appropriate dynamic brake force inspection procedure and theoretical background for developed equipment. Dynamic characteristic of brake force implementation to roller is simplified. With simplified characteristics, the indirect brake force measurement strategy is developed and adopted. Comparison of each brake force result, the appropriate brake force inspection criterion is given.

The study presents a new testing and analysis method for brake judder on vehicle. For the identification of the excitation mechanism of a brake judder, it is necessary to measure the dynamic brake disc geometry during braking on vehicle. The non-contact sensor system was used to monitor the brake disc geometry. Brake torque variation (BTV) caused by disc thickness variation (DTV) is the primary excitation for brake judder. The mechanical effects generating BTV are linked not only to initial manufacturing tolerances but also to uneven wear. Therefore, the brake disc geometry should be strictly managed to initial condition. The aim of this study has been to measure the dynamic DTV and runout on vehicle and analyze the influence of test parameters on brake judder and compare the disc component with vehicle matching about the DTV Profile. As a result of this study, The amplitude of brake judder is proportional to vehicle speed and fluid pressure fluctuation on braking. The major sources of brake judder are directly related to disc thickness variation and side runout variation of corner assembly (disc, hub. bearing).

The effect of austempering treatment on the dynamic properties of a brake drum was investigated to primarily evaluate the potential damping advantage of an AGI (austempered gray iron) drum over a PGI (pearlitic gray iron) drum. This investigation provides valuable information for brake noise reduction since the brake drum is most often the outstanding component that generates the noise of the brake assembly. Test results show that the AGI drum provided slightly larger damping values than the PGI drum for the first few major resonances observed. A finite element model of a drum was also developed to aid in studying its dynamic behavior. A good correlation was obtained between the analytical results and the actual measurement data.

The problem of brake judder is typically caused by quality defects in manufacturing. This quality problem, however, can't be controlled deterministically and requires analyses and designs considering uncertainties. This paper presents a method for dynamic analysis of a brake judder considering uncertainties. Firstly, quality defects, which come from the uncertainties, are determined by examination of symptoms of the brake judder quality problem. Effective quality defects are selected by investigation of process capability and comparison of sensitivity of each quality defects and noise levels of the effective quality defects are determined. Secondly, flexible multibody dynamic analysis and finite element analysis according to the proposed method are carried out. Finally, The analysis results are compared with the test results with noise levels of the effective quality defects.

The brake system of a high speed train has a crucial role for the safety of the train. To develop a safe brake system of the high speed train, it is necessary to understand the braking principle and phenomena of the total brake system and its subsystems. In this paper, we have suggested a mathematical model which includes car dynamics, interactions between cars, adhesive forces, brake blending algorithm, and the dynamics of each brake devices. Also, we have proposed a ready-time compensation algorithm of eddy-current brake system and a brake control logic on electric-pneumatic blending. A simulation study has shown the proposed models and algorithms are effective on the braking of the train.

This paper deals with the dynamic stability of a disc brake pad taking into account of its shear deformation and rotary inertia. A brake pad can be modeled as a beam like model subjected to distributed friction forces and having two translational springs. The study of this model is intended to provide a fundamental understanding of dynamic stability of drum brake pad. Governing equations of motion are derived from extended Hamilton's principle and their corresponding numerical solutions are obtained by applying the finite element formulation. The critical distributed friction force and the instability types are investigated bt changing two translational spring constants, rotary inertia parameter and shear deformation parameter. Also, the changes of eigen-frequencies of a beam determining instability types are investigated for various combinations of two translational spring constants.
In this paper, it is to development of brake system with ABS function for aircraft. The test of brake system is required before applying on aircraft. The real-time dynamic simulator with 5-D.O.F. aircraft dynamic model is developed for braking performance test of ABS (Anti-skid Brake System) control h/w with anti-skid brake functions. The dynamic simulator is real-time interface system that is composed of dynamic simulation parts, master control parts, digital and analog in/out interface parts, and user interface parts. The 5-D.O.F. aircraft dynamic model is composed of a big contour and a little contour by simulation s/w. The big contour represents the interactions of forces in airframe, nose and main landing gear, and engines on the center of gravity. The little contour represents interactions of wheel, braking units, hydraulic units and a control unit. ABS control h/w unit with ABS control algorithm is also developed and is tested with simulator under the some conditions of gripping coefficient. We have known that ABS control h/w unit on wet or snowy runway as well as dry runway very well protects wheel skid.

Brake-induced vibrations of a vehicle such as brake judder are determined by the excitation of brake torque variations and by their transfer to the driver's contact points via suspension, body and steering system. The formation of brake torque variation is mainly determined by static and dynamic disk thickness variations. The vibration transfer from the excitation by brake torque variation to the perception by the driver depends on the kinematic and dynamic behaviour of the components in the transfer path. Optimization of the judder performance can be achieved either by minimizing the excitation or by reduction of the judder sensitivity of the vehicle. In this paper, the optimization process of a front rotor is suggested to reduce brake judder considering the cooling performance of the rotor, the judder sensitivity of the vehicle and durability of the rotor.
