The present study aims to investigate the influence of the water to binder ratio of finishing mortar on the floor impact sound of apartments. For this, same resilient materials Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) with constant dynamic stiffness and different mortar layers with 52 %, 66 % and 72 % water to binder ratio respectively were used to build floating floor structures on which floor impact sounds were measured in standard testing facilities. As a result, it was found that light-weight floor impact sound was transmitted well when the water to binder ratio was 52% due to the high density. In case of heavy-weight floor impact sounds, since water to binder ratio of finishing mortar becomes higher as the weight of upper layer of resilient material lighter, it was shown that the natural frequency of floating floor structure moves to 63 Hz bandwidth which eventually cause a higher sound pressure level of floor impact sound. Thus, effect of water to binder ratio of mortar on the heavy-weight floor impact sounds was investigated.
In general, the design of structures and its construction processes are fundamentally dependent on their foundation and supporting ground. Thus, it is imperative to understand the behavior of the soil under certain stress and drainage conditions. As it is well known that certain characteristics and behaviors of soils with fines are highly dependent on water content, it is critical to accurately measure and identify the status of the soils in terms of water contents. Liquid limit is one of the important soil index properties to define such characteristics. However, liquid limit measurement can be affected by the proficiency of the operator. On the other hand, dynamic properties of soils are also necessary in many different applications and current testing methods often require special equipment in the laboratory, which is often expensive and sensitive to test conditions. In order to address these concerns and advance the state of the art, this study explores a novel method to determine the liquid limit of cohesive soil by employing video-based vibration analysis. In this research, the modal characteristics of cohesive soil columns are extracted from videos by utilizing phase-based motion estimation. By utilizing the proposed method that analyzes the optical flow in every pixel of the series of frames that effectively represents the motion of corresponding points of the soil specimen, the vibration characteristics of the entire soil specimen could be assessed in a non-contact and non-destructive manner. The experimental investigation results compared with the liquid limit determined by the standard method verify that the proposed method reliably and straightforwardly identifies the liquid limit of clay. It is envisioned that the proposed approach could be applied to measuring liquid limit of soil in practical field, entertaining its simple implementation that only requires a digital camera or even a smartphone without the need for special equipment that may be subject to the proficiency of the operator.

The purpose of this study is identifying the relationship among the business strategy, order receiving capability and leverage variables of a construction company using industry characteristic variables, in addition to the explanation variables used in the previous studies. The samples of this study were limited to the construction companies listed in Korean stock market. This study built multiple regression analysis models, which have been frequently used in traditional previous studies, in the explanation of company capital structure. Empirical analysis on Static Trade-off Theory and Pecking Order Theory was done by the built model. The study results suggested that the capital structure determination behavior of a construction company generally follows Static Trade-off Theory; however, profitability was found to follow Pecking Order Theory. The explanation variables used in the previous capital structure studies mostly produced significant results; however, the variables, which this study experimentally used, did not produce significant results. It is believed that it implies that additional studies are required in the selection of variables and study methodology. Consequently, a case that unconditionally supports a particular theory is scarce. It has been also found that a case can support both theories at the same time. Therefore, it is believed that development study methodology or introduction of new study methodology that can identify the dynamic characteristic of construction company capital structure formation is required.

In this study, AA1060/Alumina composites were fabricated by combined stir casting and accumulative press bonding (APB). The APB process was repeated up to six press bonding steps at 300Ċ. As the novelty, potential dynamic polarization in 3.5Wt% NaCl solution was used to study the corrosion properties of these composites. The corrosion behavior of these samples was compared and studied with that of the annealed aluminum alloy 1060 and versus the number of APB steps. So, as a result of enhancing influence on the number of APB process, this experimental investigation showed a significant enhancement in the main electrochemical parameters and the inert character of the Alumina particles. Together with Reducing the active zones of the material surfaces could delay the corrosion process. Also, at higher number of steps, the corrosion resistance of composites improved. The sample produced after six number of steps had a low corrosion density in comparison with high corrosion density of annealed specimens. Also, the scanning electron microscopy (SEM), was used to study the corrosion surface of samples.
This study evaluates three distinct observation methods, CRDS, OA-ICOS, and OF-CEAS, in greenhouse gas monitoring equipment for atmospheric CO2 and CH4 concentrations. The assessment encompasses fundamental performance, high-concentration measurement accuracy, calibration methods, and the impact of atmospheric humidity on measurement accuracy. Results indicate that within a range of approximately 500 ppm, all three devices demonstrate high accuracy and linearity. However, beyond 1000 ppm, CO2 accuracy sharply declines (84%), emphasizing the need for caution when interpreting high-concentration CO2 data. An analysis of calibration methods reveals that both CO2 and CH4 measurements achieve high accuracy and linearity through 1-point calibration, suggesting that multi-point calibration is not imperative for precision. In dynamic atmospheric conditions with significant CO2 and CH4 concentration variations, a 1-point calibration suffices for reliable data (99% accuracy). The evaluation of humidity impact demonstrates that humidity removal devices significantly reduce air moisture levels, yet this has a negligible effect on dry CO2 concentrations (less than 0.5% relative error). All three observation method instruments, which have integrated humidity correction to calculate dry CO2 concentrations, exhibit minor sensitivity to humidity removal devices, implying that additional removal devices may not be essential. Consequently, this study offers valuable insights for comparing data from different measurement devices and provides crucial information to consider in the operation of monitoring sites.
In this study, a drop impact tester was developed to comprehensively conduct basic testing and academic research on the drop impact characteristics of aerospace structures. A drop tester enables accurate assessment of the dynamic stresses and deformations that occur when an aircraft collides with the ground, thereby enabling the verification of important design factors, such as safety and mechanical strength. The drop tester consists of an electromagnet to attach and drop the test object, a crane to adjust the drop height of the test object, and a drop support structure for vertical drops. Numerical analysis of the drop test object for the test was performed, and basic tests were performed using the drop impact tester. Through the analysis and test results, the structural shape of the landing gear was analyzed, and the behavior of each part was evaluated.
This study conducts numerical modeling and eigen-analysis of a rod-fastened rotor, which is mainly used in aircraft gas turbine engines in which multiple disks are in contact through curvic coupling. Nayak's theory is adopted to calculate surface parameters measured from the tooth profile of the curvic coupling gear. Surface parameters are important design parameters for predicting the stiffness between contact surfaces. Based on the calculated surface parameters, elastoplastic contact analysis is performed according to the interference between two surfaces based on the Greenwood-Williamson model. The equivalent bending stiffness is predicted based on the shape and elastoplastic contact stiffness of the curvic coupling. An equation of motion of the rod-fastened rotor, including the bending stiffness of the curvic coupling, is developed. Methods for applying the bending stiffness of a curvic coupling to the equation of motion and for modeling the equation of motion of a rotor that includes both inner and outer rotors are introduced. Rotordynamic analysis is performed through one-dimensional finite element analysis, and each element is modeled based on Timoshenko beam theory. Changes in bending stiffness and the resultant critical speed change in accordance with the rod fastening force are predicted, and the corresponding mode shapes are analyzed.

To evaluate the vertical loads on railway bridges, conventional load tests are typically conducted. However, these tests often entail significant costs and procedural challenges. Railway conditions involve nearly identical load profiles due to standardized rail systems, which may appear straightforward in terms of load conditions. Nevertheless, this study aims to validate load tests conducted under operational train conditions by comparing the results with those obtained from conventional load tests. Additionally, static and dynamic structural behaviors are extracted from the measurement data for evaluation. To ensure the reliability of load testing, this research demonstrates feasibility through comparisons of existing measurement data with sensor attachment locations, train speeds, responses between different rail lines, tendency analysis, selection of impact coefficients, and analysis of natural frequencies. This study applies to the Dongho Railway Bridge and verifies the applicability of the proposed method. Ten operational trains and 44 sensors were deployed on the bridge to measure deformations and deflections during load test intervals, which were then compared with theoretical values. The analysis results indicate good symmetry and overlap of loads, as well as a favorable comparison between static and dynamic load test results. The maximum measured impact coefficient (0.092) was found to be lower than the theoretical impact coefficient (0.327), and the impact influence from live loads was deemed acceptable. The measured natural frequencies approximated the theoretical values, with an average of 2.393Hz compared to the calculated value of 2.415Hz. Based on these results, this paper demonstrates that for evaluating vertical loads, it is possible to measure deformations and deflections of truss railway bridges through load tests under operational train conditions without traffic control, enabling the calculation of response factors for stress adjustments.
Purpose: To evaluate the optimal number of additional half hitches for achieving an optimal knot-holding capacity (KHC) of Lockable sliding knots. Methods: Four configurations of arthroscopic knots (Duncan loop, Field knot, Giant knot, and SMC knot) were tested for their knot-holding capacity. For each knot configuration, 6 sequential knots were made including the initial sliding knot and additional 5 knots by incrementing one half hitches at a time. Each added half-hitch were in reversing half-hitches with alternate posts (RHAPs) fashion. For each sequential knot configuration, 12 knots were made by No. 2 braided sutures. On the servo-hydraulic material testing system (Instron 8511, MTS, Minneapolis, MN), cyclic loading, load to clinical failure (3-mm displacement), load to ultimate failure, and mode of failure were measured. Results: Most of the initial loop without additional half-hitch showed dynamic failure with cyclic loading. The mean displacement after the end of cyclic loading decreased with each additional half-hitches. SMC and Giant knot reached plateau to 0.1 mm or less displacement after one additional half-hitch, shereas Field and Duncan loop needed 3 additional half-hitches. The SMC and Duncan knots needed 1 additional half-hitch to reach greater than 80N at clinical failure, whefeas the other 2 knots needed2 additional half-hitches. For the load exceeding 100N for clinical failure, the SMC knot required 3 additional half-hitches and the other three knots needed 4 additional half-hitches. As the number of additional half-hitches incremented, the mode of failure switched from pure loop failure (slippage) to material failure (breakage). Duncan loop showed poor loop security in that even with 5 additional half-hitches, some failed by slippage (17%). On the other hand, after 3 additional half-hitches, the 3 other knots showed greater than 75% of failure by material breakage mode (SMC and Field 92%, Giant 75%). Conclusion: Even with its own locking mechanism, lockable sliding knot alone does not withstand the initial dynamic cyclic load. For all tested variables, SMC knot requires a minimum of 2 additional half-hitches. Duncan knot may need more than 3 additional half-hitches for optimal security. All knots showed a mear plateau in knot security with 3 or more additional half-hitches.
I. Introduction : The constipation is one of the common gastrointestinal symptoms seen in the clinical practice. When people come to the clinic complaining of the constipation, it is generally one of the cases of infrequent, painful or difficult evacuation as well as the hardened feces and unsatisfactory evacuation sense. Since the constipation is heavily influenced by dietary habit as well as the social and medical environment, the diagnostic radiology is useful to establish the objective and standardized definition in consideration of those various factors before diagnosis and treatment of the constipation patient. This paper describes the study of such diagnosis. II. Main Subject : Testing of CTT (colon transit time) is key study of the colon performance. CTT is very helpful in classifying the pathologic physiological types and defining the treatment plan for the chronic constipation. The study methods include using the radipaque marker, multiple marker technique and scintigraphic measurement. The defecography is the functional radiologic examination a that provides not only the anatomical information of anorectal but also performance of the pelvic floor and rectal change during evacuation. Study of dynamic movement of the anorectal during evacuation is helpful for diagnosis and treatment planning as well as follow-up testing for the constipation patient. One of the issues essential for the case history is the thorough observation of whether the patient shows the psychic psychological symptoms such as the behavior disorder or emotional disturbance. In that case, the decision must be made whether or which type of medication is needed for such psychiatric problem. III. Conclusion : The main causes of the constipation are insufficient intake of fiber or liquid. The key objective of such tests is to check etiology of the constipation. In general, the radiological examination does not provde the colon or anorectal performance information. It is envisaged that this study will provide the information to decide the testing and treatment plans and predict the prognosis of the patient by classifying the pathologic physiological types.
