  • A real-time vehicle simulation system is a key element of a driving simulator because accurate prediction of vehicle motion with respect to driver input is required to generate realistic visual, motion, sound and proprioceptive cues. In order to predict vehicle motion caused by various driving actions of the driver on board the simulator, the vehicle model should consist of complete subsystems.   • Vehicle driving simulators hale been used in the development and modification of models. A simulator can reduce cost and time through a variety of driving simulations in the laboratory. Recently, driving simulators have begun to proliferate in the automotive industry and the associated research community. This paper presents the hardware and software developed fur a driving simulator of construction vehicles. This effect involves the real-time dynamic analysis of wheel-type excavator, the design and manufacturing of the Stewart platform, an integrated control system of the platform, and three-dimensional graphic modeling of the driving environments.

  • This study proposes an articulated robot control system using an on/off-line robot graphic simulator with multiple networks. The proposed robot control system consists of a robot simulator using OpenGL, a robot controller based on a DSP(TMS320) motion board, and the server/client communication by multiple networks. Each client can control the real robot through a server and can compare the real robot motion with the virtual robot motion in the simulation. Also, all clients can check and analyze the robot motion simultaneously through the motion image and data of the real robot. In order to show the validity of the presented system, we present an experimental result for a 6-axis vertical articulated robot. The proposed robot control system is useful, especially, in the industrial fields using remote robot control as well as industrial production automation with many clients.

  • This paper describes the improvement of the calculation by using $6{\sigma}$ method on steam turbine simulator in a nuclear power plant. The simulator is essential to not only verification and validation of control logic but also making sure of control constants in upgrading the long time used control system into the new one. And the dynamic model is a key point in that simulator. The model used during the retrofit period of the turbine controller in Kori Nuclear Power Plant makes difference in calculating generator output and control valve positions. That is because such operating data as the main steam pressure, the main steam temperature and control valve positions of Yongkwang #3 are different from those of Kori #4. Therefore, the model parameters must be tuned by using actual operating data for the high fidelity of simulator in calculating the dynamic characteristic of the model. This paper describes that the $6{\sigma}$ method is used in improvement of precision of generator output calculation in the steam turbine model of the simulator.

  • Recently, increasing numbers of games and simulators are being implemented by employing the physically-based modeling techniques for better realism. In this paper, we propose the implementation techniques for overhead crane simulator based on ODE, the well-known open source dynamic engine. By comparing the dynamic behavior of the proposed system with a commercial engine based simulator, the physical plausibility and the effectiveness of the ODE based OHC simulator are verified. We expect the proposed the OHC simulator can be successfully utilized for virtual training in various educational institutes.

  • In this study, the dynamic characteristic of a contact wire and pantograph suppling electrical power to electrical railway vehicle is investigated from an electrical response point of view. To analysis voltage and current waveforms by induced contact loss phenomenon on driving electrical railway vehicle, a hardware Simulator which considered contact loss between contact wire and the pantograph as well as contact wire deviation is developed. It is confirmed that a contact wire and pantograph model are necessary for studying the dynamic behavior of the pantograph system. Throughout prototype simulator and contact wire and catenary wire experiments, it is confirmed that current waveforms is distorted by contact loss phenomenon and in case of driving electrical railway vehicle.

  • A vertical skin model with two detachable environmental chambers was developed to simulate a Human-Clothing-Environment system and to evaluate heat and moisture transport properties of textile materials under severe conditions and during transient states. The construction of the system was described and data reproducibility and accuracy of the instrument were verified by using PEG treated nonwovens. Also advantages over a traditional static type experiment were demonstrated based on a series of experiments.
