The method of analyzing flexible mechanisms with clearances was studied considering flexibility of beams in the mechanism using finite elements. Both ends of a beam were modeled as free following Dubowsky's impact pair model. Instead some force constraints were imposed at imposed at the connections between adjoining links. Coulomb model has been developed using dry frictions in place of tangential damping forces in the impact pair model and the contact compliance and damping coefficient approximated in a form of root function were used. As examples, impacts of a rigid ball in a cylinder, impact beam model and four-bar mechanisms made up of three flexible links with clearance connections were simulated numerically. The results from examples showed similar but a little bit smaller magnitude of impact forces compared with published studies.
Dynamic response analysis are conducted for a floating bridge subjected to multiple support earthquake excitation. The floating bridge used in this study is supported by discrete floating pontoons and horizontal pretension cables supported at both ends of the bridge. The bridge is modeled with finite elements and the hydrodynamic added mass and added damping due to the surrounding fluid around pontoons are obtained using boundary elements. Multiple support excitation is introduced at both ends of the bridge and the time history response is compared to that of a simultaneous excitation. The results shows that the differences between two results are not so large except for cable tension for which the multiple support excitation yields larger values. During the analysis the concept of retardation function is utilized to consider the frequency dependency of the hydrodynamic coefficients.
This paper established the dynamic model of a flexible Timoshenko beam capable of geometrical nonlinearities subject to large overall motions by using the finite element method. Equations of motion are derived by using Hamilton principle and are formulated in terms of finite elements using CO elements in which the nonlinear constraint equations are adjoined to the system using Lagrange multipliers. In the final formulation are presented Coriolis and Gyroscopic forces as well as linear and nonlinear stiffnesses effects for the forthcoming numerical computation.

This study investigates the thermal and mechanical properties of insulation elements through the mixing of epoxy based micro and nano particles. Regarding their thermal properties, differential scanning calorimeter and dynamic mechanical analyser were used to calculate the cross-linking densities for various types of insulation elements. The mechanical properties of the bending strength, the shape and scale parameters, were obtained using the Weibull plot. This study obtained the best results in the scale parameters, at 0.5 phr, for the bending strength of the epoxy nano-and-micro mixture composites.

Generally, the problem of vertical vibration of structure is generated slab. Analysis of space framed structures with slab for vertical vibration requires more efficient modeling and analysis technique, because number of elements lead to more complicated model with many degree of freedom which requires large amount of computing resources for dynamic analysis. This paper propose an efficient analysis method for vertical vibration of space framed structure with slab. At first, proposed model is selected minimum joints and degree of freedom which are acquired sufficient dynamic response to the vertical vibration. Secondly, super-elements that are made a number of element are used for simple input data and fast analysis.
In this paper, a non-linear finite element formulation for the spatial cable-net structures is simulated and using this formulation, the characteristics of structural behaviors for the elastic catenary cable are examined In the simulating procedure for the elastic catenary cable, nodal forces and tangential stiffness matrices are derived using catenary parameters of the exact solutions by a governing differential equation of catenary cable, cable self-weights and unstressed cable length. Dynamic Relaxation Method that considers kinetic damping is used for the structure analysis and Newton Raphson Method is used to verify the accuracy of solutions. In the analysis of two dimensional cable, the results obtain from the elastic catenary elements are shown more accurate than does of truss elements and in the case of spatial cable-net structures, Dynamic Relaxation Method is more stable to be converged than Newton Raphson Method.
This study considered the effect of scour depth on the behaviour of pile foundation of bridge structure under seismic excitation. The numerical model was composed of the superstructure, pile foundation and soil. The superstructure and pile was modeled by beam elements and soil was by spring elements. The pile head and concrete footing was considered as hinge and rigid connected situation, respectively. A toro-gap element was used to model the expansion joint of superstructure. Nonlinear dynamic analysis was carried out on the constructed model. It was acknowledged that the steel pile become to yield after the scour depth reached about 2.0m.
Ambient vibration tests were carried out to evaluate the dynamic properties of an asymmetric steel building with semi-rigid connections. The test case has many non-structural elements, constructed in the city of Tehran (Iran). The tests were conducted to obtain natural frequencies, mode shapes and damping ratio of the structure and then Fourier transform were used to analyze the velocity records obtained from the tests. The first and second natural periods of the building were obtained as 1.37 s and 1.28 s through the test and damping ratio for the first mode was calculated as 0.047. However, Natural periods obtained from finite element model have higher values from those gained from ambient vibration. Then the model was calibrated by modeling of the in-fill masonry panels at their exact locations and considering the boundary conditions by modeling two blocks near the block No. 3, but the differences were existed. These differences may be due to some hidden stiffness of nonstructural elements in the low range of elastic behavior, showing the structure stiffer than it is in reality.
Molecular dynamic method has been applied to a single polymer chain immersed in a solvent. The interactions for the pairs, of two solvent molecules (SS), of a chain element and a solvent molecules (CS), and of two non-neighbor chain elements (CC) are given by the Lennard-Jones potential, and the interaction between two bonded chain elements is given by a harmonic potential. We changed the CS interaction parameter ${\varepsilon}_{CS}$ to 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 times of the SS interaction ${\varepsilon}_{SS}$. We calculated the pair correlation functions for the SS, CS, and CC pairs, end-to-end distance and radius of gyration with the varying ${\varepsilon}_{CS}$ parameters. The results showed that a phase separation occurs between the polymer and solvent in the 0.5 system where ${\varepsilon}_{CS}$ = 0.5 {\varepsilon}_{SS}$. The autocorrelation functions for end-to-end distance and radius of gyration were also calculated.
Recently, database technologies have been used commonly. But, ordinary technologies aren't suitable to construct a complicated database such as a classical literature database or an archaeological relic's database. Because this kinds of data are semi-structured data that doesn't have regular structures, database schema can't be defined before databases. We have proposed DREAM model for semi-structured databases. In this model, a database consists of five elements and the model has operations similar to operation of set theory. And further we have introduced dynamic schema "shape" showing structure of each element. We have already realized a prototype of DBMS adopting DREAM model (DREAM DBMS) and constructing function of shapes. However, shape is imperfect to describe database structures because it can't explain nested structures of elements. In this paper, we will profuse a "shape graph"that is dynamic schema showing database structures more exactly and extend the DREAM DBMS. Further we will evaluate the performance of constructing function of shapes and shape graphs.
